never needed to be said TBH just look at how he gazes at her. But Mulder had some amazing ways of professing his love and devotion. He used some pretty spectacular words like constant, touchstone, whole person and 1 in 5 billion which beats the cliched "i love you" though he did say that, and mean it, but he was drugged so it was handwaved.

I absolutely loved this scene. The way Mulder says hes not risking losing her, I cant. To me it was like finally Fox. Chris waited way too long for them to be together. I do love their moments throughout the run of the show, I just love this moment best because he is making his point clear.

@@drimaz85 Unfortunately, fans don't get to decide what is and isn't canon. That is down to the creators and Carter himself confirmed what CSM said to be true. The revival may be bs but it happened unless Carter decides to make it not canon somewhere down the line.

@@nikunjdixit1175 Carter can decide what he writes, but the fans can do decide what they accept or not. Actually, something similar happens to Star Wars fans. Philosophically speaking, the creator has no authority over his characters after their story is concluded, so he can't sixteen years (or six, if we're considering IWTB) after the end spoil everything it was constructed in terms of characters development and story just because he can. So to me only the original show is canon, the rest is Carter's bs to get more money. 🙂

Adriana Uhm... the creators have full authority over their creation, unless you are someone like Lucas who gives up his authority. Carter gets to decide when a story is concluded, not the fans. We may think we know better but in the end, Carter’s word will always count for more towards canon than anything we wish. What you are describing is fanon and headcanon.

I never saw them as uncomfortable with each when Mulder returns in the back half of season 8. For me Mulder experiences culture shock and trauma and is struggling which is completely understandable. He's unsure where he fits in. Is territorial with Dogett and the x-files, and is afraid to confirm with Scully that she's pregnant with his baby. But they settle back in quite quickly. He goes to Lamaze classes with her, is totally playing daddy, has a daddy moment with her pregnant belly in the hospital, fun banter with her and agent Layla, cute moments with his gifting her a family doll, she gives him scully aid again, and he swears he'll do anything to protect her when she's in danger, Then holds his son and kisses Scully at the end. He goes on the run but when they reunite he kisses her again. Acts tender and devoted right till the end of the series. Other then that episode after his return he's still sweet loving Mulder. but the show had to show him adjusting after being abducted, tortured, killed, buried and revived again.

Their love was what I call godly. I wrote this for them: I once saw a great romance depicted. This was an unusual story, not initially introduced as an affair by any means. And yet, as the relationship between the couple grew and unfolded, over a very long period of time, respect… consideration…trust…and even love developed. Love on many levels. Yes, there was attraction; but this aspect was not augmented in their story, almost avoided, because it wasn’t necessary to spell this truth out to the audience…for it was clear. And the deep, mutual love between the pair went without that absolutely deciding, altering dynamic of sexual or sensual fulfillment. It was as if this ultimate consummation of the couple’s love in a sexual manner would somehow destroy the beauty and purity of their love-a love that I would almost call godly. It was almost-at least for me-as if that eternal, lingering last boundary, ever kept at arms length, yet on their horizon of hope, made their appetite for their higher romance never falter or wane; because they were each completely assured of the other’s equal love. It was perfectly reciprocal, without being spoken, necessarily. It was just…understood…without a single particle of doubt. This is the kind of love we all long for; we just don’t know it…because (almost) none of us has ever thought to seek this kind of love, or to hope to create it. It would never occur to any of us to even consider the existence of such love during mortality. Perhaps this is the case because it surely must not be possible for the common man or woman, in any situation, to endure self-denial in that way-to deny our natural selves, for what purpose we were created: to merge our bodies, our hearts…melded into singularity. To belong to someone that assuredly…that completely…without doubt or even an inkling of questioning as to the validity or endurance of the love bond. Like acceptance that the Sun is always there, even behind the clouds.
