I replaced the carb with one off Amazon ($25) that is jetted differently and appears to be made in Japan. It also has mixture adjustment screws. The stock carb is missing ANY form of adjustment and is jetted for EPA fuel economy. It made a very noticeable difference. It's not life changing but worth the upgrade. It really helped with acceleration and helped a little with top end speeds. I will get between 52 and 54 mph on flat roads. I find that the scooter likes to go around 45-48 comfortably. When installing I did not use any of the hoses that come with the new carb. I just unhooked the stock carb and transplanted the new one in. Make sure to open the drain up that is at the end of the long hose with the spring around it. you will have to cut some zip ties to remove the choke wire from the harness. Hey dude when you got yours did you have issues with the engine just dying when riding? For some reasons the last couple of days of riding mine has been dying mid ride and don’t know why. I haven’t done anything to it other than giving it oil when it needs it.
@scottcol23 Жыл бұрын
@@jarodhuber2687 When it dies, does it just bog down and then stall out. And does it re start easily? if it does, its probably a fuel issue. Stuff can clog the lines, starving it of fuel. I would for sure replace the fuel filter. There could have been dirt or metal bits in the tank. But for sure check the fuel lines. Also there is a vacuum line that goes to a pulse pump. make sure that is hooked up correctly, some times a vac tube might be kinked if they cut it too long.

@@jarodhuber2687 Its a fuel issue for sure. you can replace the filter and then open the carb drain. its a screw at the end of a long hose that is on the left side near the peg that sticks off the center stand. its easy to identify. there is a spring/coil that is around the hose. open that a few turns and let the bowl drain completely. there could be sediment in it.

Got mine today. I had to install several parts, none too difficult. Mirrors, exhaust cover, battery, tiny windscreen and everyone's menace - the center stand. Luckily, I've installed several of these so if you know the trick, it's not too difficult. DO check the oil! Mine had very little. Topped it off and added gas then rode around for awhile. Adding oil is a trick though - get a looooong funnel and add in small amounts. Coming from an 89cc (bore kit on a 49cc), the size difference is considerable. Weight too. The feel of riding it reminds me more of an ATV than a tiny scooter. You can ride with your head held high. Guys riding Harley's will rode (two-finger) salute you. Also, it does have mounting points on the frame for crash bars. An after market cruise control / throttle lock will come in handy if you plan to ride long distance, which you can.

Even though it is a different brand but overall these scooters are quite similar given they all designed and made in the same region of China. These are seemingly trivial yet important aspects but usually people reviewing these do not mention them at all. Thanks for the review.

You know you have an AC coil (in most cases) if your headlight stays off when you turn the key to the RUN position. But I will give it a try. Changing the headlights is not an easy task. you have to take off the front fender and the luggage rack, farings and front bezels. Takes about 30 minutes to do. So yes, Fuel Injection is neat and a great feature to have on a scooter. But I do not like the complex nature of it on a cheap scooter. Lifan does make a reliable fuel injected motor. So I have over 3k miles on it now. I have not had a single issue with mine aside from the stock carb running lean and had no adjustment for mixture. I could have re jetted the thing but I opted for a new one off Amazon which was $23 and made it run way better. It is rather quiet. I liked how quiet it is stock. BUT these scooters all have one issue. The muffler baffles will break inside. It didnt make it louder. It just makes the thing rattle over every little bump. This happens to every Chinese scooter I have ever had after about a year. I got a aftermarket muffler which works well. BUT it is a lot louder. I think I am going to try one that is larger. The one in this video is the stock muffler. Out of the 3 Chinese scooters I have had over the years, this is the only one that I can 100% recommend. Nothing that normally breaks on these has broke yet, not even the CDI. It uses a magnetic speedo sensor, the normal screw and cable kind break easily. The digital speedo cluster might be the same one that yamaha uses. Another thing this scooter has going for it... All the aftermarket Zuma parts I have tried bolted right on. I overloaded the aluminum luggage rack and it broke after many many grocery runs. I was going to replace it with a stock Zuma part from yamaha but it was the same part that was on it originally... so I went with an aftermarket steel tube one which I love. You wont find another Chinese scooter that has direct bolt on parts if something breaks body wise. The GY6 engine parts can be sourced anywhere. Even the headlight assembly from a Zuma will bolt right up if you ever needed a new one. Its kinda crazy.

If you sit back on the seat yes it will wheelie. But its more of a balance thing. The cvt trans is a little lazy. Meaning it likes about 2k rpm before it gets moving. And just eases into the power. Not real snappy.

Mine Was Delivered Today. Had To Assemble Very Little. Took It Around The Neighborhood, Then Changed The Oil. Mine Is The Red Version !
@jerrybriardy Жыл бұрын
I ordered this model 2 days ago and it arrived today. I was amazed how fast the shipping was. I'm in Omaha and the scooter was shipped from Texas. It took me 70 minutes to get it out of the package. I then installed the hand guards and mirrors. There is a missing screw on one hand guard. I then tried installing the rear kickstand. It is not complicated but there is a spring that I cannot get on. I measured it at 9 centimeters, or 3.5". I think it must be the wrong size. I wasted at least 2 hours trying to get the spring to fit. Now I'm out of daylight. I removed the rear kickstand and tomorrow I'll keep working on it. I still need to install the battery and the little faring. He is right about the foot rests. It takes a very subtle touch to get the foot rests in. Once you know how it is easy but it takes a little practice. The battery is in the floor if the scooter, so very easy to access. I'm not sure if it needs an oil change before starting it or after 300 miles. I have not had a chance to check it yet. The scooter is a Yamaha Zuma clone. The Yamaha gas tank is on the front left, and this scooter has what looks like the same thing but it is actually under the seat. I don't know what that thing is that looks like a fuel tank opposite the key.

Did R&L deliver it to you? How was packaging when you got it? Was it packaged well? Any damage while being shipped? Also was it fully assembled?
@jerrybriardy Жыл бұрын
@@jarodhuber2687 I don't remember the name of the shipping company. He did a great job though. He had it on a truck with a lift and he had it on a small fork lift and put it exactly where I wanted it. I didn't lift a finger. I was ready to do some lifting, and had my son there ready to help. He called me 10 minutes before he arrived. One handlebar had broken through the package and was scratched but it has bar ends I had to install which cover the scratches. My only complaint is the rear kickstand was not attached. It was lying in the box flopping around. I don't think it damaged anything but the spring it uses is so tight I cannot get it on. The install video the company sends shows it installed at the factory. It isn't complicated but they must either use a special tool to get that spring on or the sprng is the wrong size. There are no instructions whatsoever for putting it together. Most of it is easy though. I'mnot quite finished. The weather here is terrible right now. I'm waiting for a warm up to finish. I still haven't tried to start it. I spent 70 minutes removing it from the crate, another hour working on the install and 2 solid hours trying to get the spring on the rear kickstand before I ran out of light. The company has been no help at all with this issue. I think maybe one more hour to get it running, not including the kick stand. The front was already installed so it is not essential to get it running. I may have to buy another spring.
@jerrybriardy Жыл бұрын
@@jarodhuber2687 I see yes. It was R&L shipping. No not fully assembled but mostly. The hand guards, the battery and cover, the little tiny faring, and the rear kick stand was not attached. I think normally the rear kickstand is attached. I see no reason why it isn't. I think the spring on mine somehow got knocked off and so they disattached it (2 bolts) and just laid in in the crate, and too bad for me. It was not even fastened down. It has been a nightmare trying to get it on because the spring is so tight.

Hey Scott, hate to bug you with another question but, when you insured or registered what was it under as I've been told the dmv typically only wants to pick a manufacturer/etc that's on their list
@scottcol232 жыл бұрын
I have Progressive insurance and the process was easy. You just have to type in the Make and model number, which would be Senling, MP-150. In Louisiana I did have to pay for the notarized Manufacterer Certificate of Origin (MCO). There is a tab at the top of the powersportsmax website that says "request an MCO". The one that comes in the mail a few days after the bike arrived is not notarized. Just check with your state because not all states require a notarized MCO. They also give you a bill of sale.

I'm in Nebraska. I went to get plates today. Allstate insures my other bikes so they wrote me a policy. The woman at the DMV told me sine the manufacturer is not in the database, she would have to add it and she would let me know when it was done. Then I could complete the registration. I thought it would haver ot get inspected but the inspection staff told me no. Since it had the Manufacterer certificate of origin, that was enough. No inspection neccesary. Hopefully I'll have plates tomorrow or the next day.

3 trips to the Nebraska DMV so far. Still no plates. The biggest hang up has been mysterious requirements some inspector in Lincoln (I'm in Omaha, 50 miles away) is telling the ladies at the desk I need. An "EPA Sticker" and a "DOT sticker" So I'm looking all over the bike for these damn stickers. I asked the lady "What do they look like?" "I don't know" "So how am I supposed to know what they look like?" "I don't know". "Do you know where I can find this information?" "No, I don't know" So I finally figured out the large metal sign to the left of the steering column above the floorboard is the EPA "sticker". I thought that was enough. It is extremely difficult to photograph because it is metal and has a terrible glare. I brought in a photo but he still wanted the "DOT sticker". I'm searching all over the bike for a damn sticker there is none. Google finally showed me it doesn't say "DOT" on it at all, but is a Federal Safety notice. It is another metal tag, this time on the right side of the steering column, just above the floorboard RIGHT IN PLAIN SITE. I had emailed X-Pro and asked them. They had no idea what I was talking about. I emailed the guy in Lincoln and he hasn't responded. I can't believe what a hassle this has been. To compound it all, my printer doesn't work very well and I still haven't gotten a readable photo of the "DOT sticker". This is unbelievably difficult. I have around 150 miles on the bike so far. I'll be doing the first oil change soon. I changed the oil when I first got it. It recomends 300 KM. Afterward change it every 1000 KM. Bike is running great so far. I have had it up to 46 mph, though trying not to go too fast. But I have to ride a couple of very busy streets with heavy traffic to get to the DMV.
@scottcol23 Жыл бұрын
Wow, that is crazy. I know that some states are crazy. Do you have state vehicle inspections, like emissions? In Louisiana we do not have any emissions tests but we do have what we call a brake tag. This is just a test for basic safety items like horn, turn signals and brake lights. BUT it is done through your local parish (county) at repair shops, muffler shops, and even some gas stations. and wont stop you from getting plates because part of the inspection is having valid registration. If you have a library near you I would take a bunch of pictures of the plates needed using different lighting to see what shows up the best. try taking the pics from different angles. Then email the pics to yourself and go to the library and print them out there. It usually costs less than .25 cents a page. OR you can search for FedEx Kinkos , Office Depot locations which also have professional print services. When you go to the DMV bring all the pics you took because I would think that if you can at least see all the data even if it is from 2 separate pics should be sufficient. I just looked at my scooter and yes both of those plates are the ones they are looking for. Or just take a video with your phone showing all the stickers and bring that in to the DMV. maybe they will accept a video showing what they need... The big one on the left is the California CARB certification which has all the emmisions data, and the smaller one on the right is the DOT plate which has the VIN number, Manufacturer name and assembly date along with engine displacement and emissions compliance (at the federal level). The one on the left is only needed for registration in states that require CARB certification. This would likely be the EPA sticker they are referring to.

I went to ride the scooter last night, very new scooter, less than 600 miles on it, owned maybe 2 months. It did not want to start. Finally did and then it kept dying on me. Finally after getting warmed up it ran okay, though it doesn't seem as strong as it has been. It seemed like it was having trouble getting fuel but the tank is full. It has never done this to me. It is raining so I put it in the garage and went out and it started without issues. I'm a newbie so do not know the basics even. Is there an automatic choke on these things? Could it have been flooded? Do the cheap Chinese spark plugs give out easily? Clogged fuel line? It was a cheap bike, an X-Pro Tahiti 150. $1100 + shipping. I had ridden it earlier in the day without issues. I hope this is not going to become a regular thing.
@scottcol23 Жыл бұрын
If you haven't upgraded the carb, I would do that. I had issues with my stock carb. There is a link to it in the comments that I made. was $20 on amazon and came with a new spark plug and fuel filter. Yes the scooter has an electronic choke. Also there is a carb drain located at the bottom of the scooter. it's at the end of a long tube that is surrounded by a spring, there is a Philips screw in it that if you turn it, it will open and drain the carb bowl. If this happens again I would open that and see if fuel comes out. if it does not I would check the fuel filter. maybe there was some debris in the fuel tank that worked its way out and clogged the filter. I replaced the stock filter with the one that came with the new carb. EDIT: There is also a pulse fuel pump that runs off a long vacuum tube. Check to see if there is a kink in any of the hoses going to it. You can find it if you follow the fuel line from the carb. Although the tank sits higher than the carb so this is not likely the issue. its a good idea to check out the lines for any bends or kinks. It can happen if they cut a line too long. And while you are down there I would check that the exhaust nuts are tight. Mines loosened up and ended up falling off on a long 100 mile ride I did last week. I think they were loose for a while because after I replaced them the scooter is very quiet.

I went to my local Yamaha dealer when the new Zuma came out and talked with them in detail about the braking system. It does have what they call a "unified braking system" which just means that when you pull the left brake lever both the front and rear brakes are applied evenly. But sadly they do not have ABS. I have the exact same model. 150 miles on it so far. I weigh 300 pounds. Brakes work great. No problem there. Even with my weight it is adequate. We have pretty steep hills around here (Omaha) and though I'm babying it since I'm still breaking it in, it has power to get me up the steepest, though it does slow down. During the break in phase you are supposed to keep it down to 30 mph or so. I've been doing that as much as possible but have gone on some busy roads with fast traffic and had no problem getting it to 40 mph. I was NOT using full throttle. My guess is it'll do 50 mph even with my weight on a flat road. But I haven't been able to test it yet. It is obviously not built for speed. I think 30-40 mph range may be best. Is that something that’s wrong with it or is it normal for it to only mark the gas at certain times?
@scottcol2311 ай бұрын
It should always read the fuel level. Sounds like it is a fuel sending unit issue in the tank. First I would look at all the connectors and check where it grounds to the frame, making sure it is a good connection as It could be a ground issue.. Remove the bolt where it mounts, clean the surface and re install. If you are still having problems I would just replace the fuel tank. You can get the parts from the dealer who sold you the bike. I went through power sports max. And they can get any part on it. Not sure if they only sell parts if you purchased it from them. But its worth a shot if your dealer doesn't offer support. To get to the tank, remove the 4 bolts located under the seat, 2 near the hinge and 2 near the fuel cap. Check for 2 Phillips screws on the side you might need to remove and the whole seat and storage comp. lifts off. You can also remove the front cover if need be.
