Today I will be unboxing and installing a new Wifi door bell.
My old door bell is on the fritz and I require I new one, so I decided on a new wifi enabled, video and audio door bell that can connect to your phone or tablet and will ring to your phone. You can then just go and answer the door or you can check out the video function with the wifi HD camera and also chat to the person at your door.
I will go through the installation and setup of the wifi door bell and also leave a small description below.

I believe the paring issue is due to the fact that the wifi needs to be 2.4Ghz for this to work and most people have 5Ghz these days.

PINACI news - very true. A lot of these devices seem to be 1 step forward and 1 step backwards in requiring 2.4ghz. It defo states this in the specs before you purchase it, but yep I guess it should indeed be included in this vid that’s otherwise very helpful. 👍🏾😊 (I LOVE this doorbell. I REALLY wish manufacturers of devices like these would design them to be able to use 21700 cells OR 18650 cells. With 21700 cells, for just that 3 millimeters increase in length and 5mm increase in diameter, you increase the capacity by nearly 50% !!! They could provide space for the 21700's and with an appropriately sized spring connector (or articulating contact) it could use EITHER 18650 or 21700 cells...offering greater flexibility to the customers and if desired, substantially longer operating time. 21700 Li-Ion cells can be easily found in true 5000mAh capacities.

I cannot confirm it is true for THIS specific unit, but the user manuals I have for several "identical" looking doorbells all stipulate the camera itself is JUST 1MP resolution (1 mega-pixels). That is VERY low resolution. So this is just something to keep in mind. Even though it can DISPLAY in an 720p format, the 1MP image is still low resolution because it is limited by the camera itself. A 1MP image will be fuzzy, especially if you try to "zoom" in or "magnify" the image. So set expectations accordingly. Note that most phones have 5MP cameras or higher these days and a number of them even have 20MP cameras. Surveillance camera vendors often specify "HD" or "720p" or "1080p" to give the impression the image quality is very high...but it's often misleading due to the camera itself having much lower optical resolution. They just artificially "stretch" the 1MP image using computer processing so it FITS the 720p or 1080p or higher DISPLAY format...which they call resolution.

5:40 that is for when you hard wire it, its not alarm 😃 . The alarm is sounded when the white small square button is released when someone detached it from the wall unit.

For me I installed the app using batteries then hooked up to my doorbell wires (Please do your research on how to do this and be careful as touching any electrical wires can be dangerous) -- if you're going to hook up to doorbell wires you take out the batteries... the device should still be paired -- but if you delete the device out of the app you'll have to reset it again using batteries, not sure why it wouldn't work with the wires but actually easier. Also buy a high quality doorbell wire, I bought some which was cheap but not very good and wish I would have bought a better quality... Also, for those like me who don't realize for ding dong pairing you have to buy the ding dong that plugs in separately in an indoor outlet which you buy separately. Which you can then pair once you plug that ding dong in. I also used a plastic butter container and cut space to ring the bell and for the camera, then screwed that to the wood on side of door with special star screws - makes it harder for anyone to steal because a robber will steal it and not care if the alarm goes off. Question 1: It's difficult if you're a busy person to check when there's a notifications of motion detection and even on the lowest setting mine picks up cars going by... ug. Do you know if there's an auto record and if so please provide instructions or a link. Question 2: I live in the US, should I use 50 or 60hz? I'm assuming 60hz... and in the UK 50hz...

​@@tomharris5777 By "tamper protection", I think you're referring to it will sound an alarm (assuming enabled)...if removed from the mounting plate by a thief. But...it has no way to PHYSICALLY secure it to the mounting plate to prevent theft even when the plate is attached to the wall using screws. I think rabone1963 was pointing out what I also consider a flaw. IF it does have a way to PHYSICALLY secure the unit to the plate (security screw, key lock, etc), I didn't see any. I would find a way to modify it to provide physical anti-theft in addition to the alarm.

A USB charger only supplies 5 vdc. Charging these batteries would take a door bell or other 14 to 25 volt transformer. And yes, you can use either ac or dc as the circuit has a full wave rectifier and voltage control.

Notifications is extremely slow. Sometimes any. It is entirely based on cloud. Camera send hundreds package to various servers. Checked by Pihole.

Hi, can anyone tell me do I need to wire this up to my own existing doorbell? Otherwise How can I hear this doorbell ringing if the doorbell is on the outside of my front door? The instructions say that I need a buzzer matching device that comes separately, so do I need the buzzer matching device if I haven’t got an existing doorbell to wire it to and how do I wire this to my existing doorbell please?

Am I understanding this right? That this model let you view the images from the doorbell on your smartphone, and talk with the person at the door WITHOUT having to first send the audio/video data to the "cloud"? e.g. the app provides a direct WiFi link to your phone from your home WiFi network?

Example: I have a place that is "off the grid". However, it has an internal/personal WiFi network that extends over a large area which I can communicate between devices on MY network. But, again...it has ZERO connection to any external phone or external wifi support.

Hey, dude! Do you know if its possible to disable the sounds coming from the doorbell it self? You know ,the part that's outside? Kind of stupid it makes the ding-dong-sound when people are pressing the doorbell-button, like they dont know they're ringing the bell.

How do I get my existing hard wire door bell to work? With the battery's in the door bell, the interior mechanical door bell does not ding dong., and there is a 60 cycle buzzing sound from the mechanical door bell. I take the battery's out of the exterior door bell and the buzzing stops inside. The outside door bell still works from the power from the hard wiring. What is the secret Sause to get my mechanical door bell to ring. Thanks for your help.

If hardwiring ignore the part where he says you can connect 240v to it. It needs a transformer to lower it to 12v

I would speculate that the "240V" was a typo in the user manual and or the product box...they are often full of such typos/mistranslations. They almost certainly meant "24.0V". Example of major typo: I've seen a user manual for this type of doorbell that specifies it uses 2x 18650 cells, only to state in the next paragraph that is requires 3x 18650 cells. I don't know about THIS specific brand, but a number of identical looking brands accept 12-24vAC from a "standard" hardwired doorbell transformer...that's AC volts...not DC volts... although 12-24VDC input MIGHT still work but it would depend on the specific electrical design of a given brand AND it would be polarity sensitive...you would have to match the (+) to the correct input connection. With an AC input it wouldn't matter which of the two wires went in which of the two connections.

I love mine. It’s brilliant. I was nervous and thought it would look chunky. It Works fantastically. Instead of wiring it, as well as my phone & other devices, I’ve Bluetoothed it to a prehistoric tired old Samsung tablet that remains plugged in, in one area of the house so everyone in the house can hear the doorbell ring (& view) if my phone/devices are switched off. I’ve also popped in a 32gb micro usb card (i can’t believe what I saw my neighbour do on playback! Another story...🤦🏾‍♀️). With rechargeable batteries, this was a really great buy. 👌🏾👍🏾

Can you download the XSH "app" as an .apk so you can save it in case this company goes out of business and their "app" is removed or no longer available for whatever reason? The problem I have with "apps" that are REQUIRED to use a product, is that companies DO remove them from the internet when they change models, and/or go out of business and they get removed, and so on...making the product useless when you change phones or have to reload the app for any reason (e.g. recovering after a phone problem requiring a reset). Companies removing their "app" from the internet has happened to me twice now...leaving unusable over $100 of products I have. Note: I'm assuming an *unrooted* smartphone, but the phone does allow you to sideload .apk app files. (I know rooted smartphones will generally allow one to save apps as .apk files even if an app isn't designed to be saved like that, but rooting is such a hassle sometimes)

In the states our internal wiring for doorbells runs around 24VAC. This looks like unit I bought but has better features than the XSH Cam unit I bought and will not work. So I see they make different models, mine you have to wire to doorbell direct, not to mounting bracket so cheap chinese knockoff of this device which never connects.
