Xbox controller S/Duke | USB PC Conversion

How to make an original Xbox S type or Duke controller work on a PC.
It really is a simple as cut the plug off an attach a USB!

I can only find cheap replacement cables that have 4 wires. If I'm using a controller with an xbox, won't i need the 5th wire? Pinout found on google says it's for Timer (VSync). All the 6 pin wires are from america, and are like $50 delivered. 😟

Usb 2.0 only uses 4 wires, disregard the 5th, its for the vibrate feature. If you modify the adaptor, the controller will work as designed on an xbox.

@@RestoreTechnique basically. Are you modding it for use on a pc? Or just replacing cable for use on xbox? If just replacing cable, 6 core alarm cable might work better.

@@TheAussieRepairGuy Replacing for use on Xbox. But I don't have the connector either. Just the controller with a stump where the cable once was. Almost seems like it's a write off, if the proper cable is worth more than the controller itself.

Pro tip - you can easily get a generic breakaway cable for Xbox controllers to mod instead of using an original one. 🙂

@@jcchaconjr in rural australia, "easily" usually means a couple of months. My kid wanted something same night.

Thanks for posting this. I have an old duke controller, n its the only thing my hands are comfortable with holding. Looked for an adapter online, but ended up buying a 360 adapter, n got really annoyed. At least i can use it to do what you're doin here

Me alegra que al final lo hayas solucionado. xbox360 fue un modelo mucho posterior. Estos eran de la consola Xbox original.
