MS never really understood how the console market worked. In hindsight, they seem to perceive consoles as an entertainment appliance* (at least, Don Mattrick certainly did). And Xbox never having a constant 'North Star' was due to this type of thinking. *appliance: a product interchangeable with another of the same type, sometimes of differing quality, which does the same function, eg. toaster

It has actually been reported. That Xbox has never made a profit selling consoles. Which is why people are talking about the issue today. For every Xbox sold, there is at least 2 PlayStations sold. I’m not saying one is better than the other but there is talks about Xbox giving its games onto other consoles. Starfield and hi fi rush are strongly rumored to be coming to other consoles

Microsoft is giving people less of a reason to buy an xbox console. every screen is an Xbox no need to drop 500 to 600 if my TV plays xbox games. Xbox is now getting outright skipped by 3rd party developers. When xbox releases a game from its own studios, they release games like HALO Starfield and Redfall absolutely horrible next gen titles. Microsoft gave me a reason to invest in a high end Gaming Rig, and upon release buy a PS5 pro. Microsoft will keep building consoles and PlayStation will keep selling PS consoles at a 3-1 clip over xbox.
