I've owned one of these for several years and I'm really impressed. I use it to jumpstart batteries and its never failed to jumpstart. Once its charged, it Holds the charge. I've pulled this unit off my garage shelf after an entire winter and the charge was 98% off the last charge, last season, remarkable. This is one of the best home jumpstart units I've experienced. Thumbs Up

I bought 1 just over a year ago and love it. I use it the jump start cars and air up/down my ATV tires. The air compressor is a little weak airing up truck tires though. It really holds a charge and you really have to use it a lot before needing to recharge great product in my opinion.
@Bassguitarist1985
@Bassguitarist1985 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah the air compressor is very low CFM, but filling a passenger car tire from flat is fairly reasonable time. I'm using mine to power all the LED lights in my shed. Two Spot lights 120 watts equiv and two 100 watt equivalent takes about 80 watts total. Lasts on the battery pack for about 5 hours. Perfect amount of time when mowing the grass or snow blowing at night!

I've had this model for over year and love it. Battery life has been great. I leave it in my truck and use it camping too. I've jumped at least 10 cars with it. I also use it to air up/down my ATV tires. Well worth the money.

@Bassguitarist1985

Flashing red means that the battery inside has failed and will not accept a charge. Likely the voltage at the terminals is too low for the charger to engage.
@Bassguitarist1985
@Bassguitarist1985 Жыл бұрын
You will have to check the wattage ratings of the coffee grinder. Even if the wattage is within 200 watts likely the surge wattage when the grinder first starts up the inverter cannot handle. In addition with it being a modified sine wave the efficiency is far less and you would need more wattage capacity in order to run an inductive motor load like that.

I also have the previous model Schumacher all in one unit. However, when someone attempted to jump a vehicle 1 summer day, the outer plastic leads appeared to be slightly burned and part of plastic melted. The unit worked very well up to that point. I own a Schumacher Portable Battery, model SJ1332 QP. I want to use the Schumacher battery to power a 200-400 watt heated throw blanket on a camping trip. Will the battery handle the load? If so, for how long? I estimate we will use the blanket for between 2 to 4 hours each night while camping.
@Bassguitarist1985

Based on the highest setting of 400 watts. A 20Ah battery will last a half hour. At 200 watts continuous about an hour. Id say no its not big enough. Now a big 29DC boat battery with about 220Ah, that would do it with an inverter running off that

@Bassguitarist1985
@Bassguitarist1985 2 жыл бұрын

@@Bassguitarist1985 can it power any kind of leaf blower at all that's corded? I'm asking for an outdoor project that requires a power source, whether it be charging a backup battery, or just going with cordless, larger leaf blower battery.
@Bassguitarist1985
@Bassguitarist1985 2 жыл бұрын
@@CoasterTeaFox it cannot run any corded leaf blower. Even charging a battery for a cordless blower is not practical or recommended. A 22Ah battery is limited for the purpose you want. Also the modified sine wave output of the inverter may not work with your charger, could actually damage it. Bottom line not the right tool for your job. If you truly want to power a 12A corded blower from a portable power source, a 2k sine inverter with two group 29DC boat batteries will get the job done.

I have this model and I also have the prior one, it burned out on me, however. I was using it to raise/lower a electric flatbed trailer. Not sure why it crapped out because I had been doing that for a couple years with no problems. But my question is on the new model. The recharging plug on the back must’ve taken a hit or somehow separated and the two prongs swing freely now. It’s hard to see, but I think there may have been a crack in the plastic that joined the two. Is there another way to recharge this thing or is that part replaceable?

I got an email response from them, they said there’s no replacement for that part but you can charge the device using a male to male DC cable on one of the DC ports. When I asked them how to get that to an AC wall outlet they said I’d have to buy a second cable to convert DC over to AC. (They also said DC charging in your car should be limited to 30 minutes while the car is running.) I’m waiting to hear if they have a different solution that’s one single cable, DC on one end and AC on the other, that I can use to charge through the DC port. If you have any advice on that type of a cable, let me know!

The internal battery has sulfated due to age. It needs to be replaced. Battery is about $40 or so off Amazon. The battery can be replaced and access from the bottom with a couple screws. If you do that you should be fine. The unit is able to power up just for a few minutes because you are using the power of the charger to turn on all of the accessories. I have the sj1332. I use inverter on a regular or a small fan. It runs 5-7watts on display when I have one running or 15-17 when. I have two running. They run for 6-7 hours. Then I get woke up by the alarm going off. Turn off the inverter and check battery % and it's between 50-65% left and always start off at 100%. My question is why does it shut off if it has so much % left. I understand if it was like 10-20% and saving itself. If you've had or anyone else had issue please let me know. Also I have two units I bought at same time and rotate out. And they both do similar things. Thanks in advance.
@Bassguitarist1985
@Bassguitarist1985 4 жыл бұрын
A phenomenon called Peukert's Law. The display may say 55-65% but the display is reading open circuit voltage, its an approximation of remaining capacity. 6-7 hours is very good for a fan given the size battery. It is not a deep cycle battery with thick large plates inside. Its an SLA battery, thinner plates designed for quick high current draw to jumpstart cars. While it has capacity for low power applications with the inverter, you are asking a lot of it for a 20aH battery. Still, impressed at the capacity you got given its size. Its a decent unit!

Need more info. Do you have the panel along with a charge controller? Is the controller designed for 12 volts? If so then yes. In the scenario I just stated you would need to make a wire that goes from the charge controller to a male type cigarette accessory adapter. That would charge the internal battery with the solar panel. I would not expect a small solar panel with charge controller to connect at the AC power inlet for charging. For that you would need an external inverter to power that charge circuit

@@Journeymanblues Its hard to say, what model guitar amp you have? Is it solid state? Tube amp? If its 90 watts output, you need to look at the name plate where the power cord is. No amplifier is 100% efficient, likely it will take far more wattage input to get you the 90 watts of sound output. For example a fender guitar amp that is 90 watts output, takes 310 watts input to run. In that case this jumper back is too small. In terms of the buzz sound being permanent, it is possible. Keep in mind a stepped square wave this inverter produces is not as efficient with energy transfer as a sine wave like what you get from the utility. The amp will run hotter, less efficient, possibly causing damage. Bottom line, even if you have an amp small enough to run on 200 watts, there is possibility of damage. guitar amps are sensitive electronic devices IMHO

Great Video - thanks. I need a portable AC power source to run a large computer monitor (or possibly a flat screen TV of up to 50inches) for an in-door trade-show that will not have power available. @Bassguitarist1985
@Bassguitarist1985 4 жыл бұрын
A small computer monitor say 20 in wide screen should be just fine. I don't think the modified sine wave will be a problem. The runtime for the monitor probably won't be as long as you need it to. For example my Dell 20 inch widescreen is 1 1/2 amps at 120 volts. That's roughly 175 Watts. That would only run for about an hour on the jumper pack. What you can do is get a group 29 deep cycle battery and connect the power leads to it. That will give you ample power for a monitor that size to run at 4 more than 4 hours for example. Now add in a computer desktop tower. Thats several hundred watts, means you need more big batteries, and a larger inverter preferably a sine wave inverter that is beyond the capabilities of the Schumacher jumper pack in question

That means the inverter output stage is shorting out. Soon as you turn it on it goes from 0 watts to 192 Watts which is right at the limit of continuous power the inverter can handle. It will then go into protect mode and shutdown that's what the continuous beep is for. If you got this new from the store I would return it and get another one. If you got it used then likely the inverter output transistors need to be replaced or any number of components. Can this machine explode or blow up for no reason. I want to use this for back up at home in the even the power goes out but there’s so many warnings about explosions but I’m just not sure how this occurs.. if it’s from not minding the manual or if it’s because that’s just how it’s made and there’s always a chance? I have kids and it’s just concerning please help

There is an SLA battery inside. If the jump pack is improperly used such as short circuit that battery can explode going into thermal runaway. DON'T CONNECT THIS TO A HOUSE BY ANY MEANS! Other than that the jump pack is very reliable!

I wonder if Schumacher sells one just as strong but without a compressor.

doubtful, no one would buy it, and it be cheaper and easier to build one self.

Will this blow up an air mattress that has a built in motor and a 110 plug?

You planning to use the units inflator, or use the unit to power the air mattress that has its own inflator built in?

I dont see why not. The motor is likley a DC motor powered by 120VAC

I am using the power to run the motor in the mattress. I tried it and it worked, it took about 2 minutes to inflate! Thanks for answering my question!

I was using this model today to try to jumpstart a car that had been sitting for several months with a pretty much discharged battery. The unit would periodically beep three times. Do you have any idea what those beeps meant?

It reminds you that the switch is on to the jumper cables.

@@Bassguitarist1985 The switch is on to the jumper cables? What do you mean? Aren't you supposed to turn the switch to on when you are jumpstarting?
@Bassguitarist1985
@Bassguitarist1985 4 жыл бұрын
@@RootsRockRebel the main twist switch on the front is on (which powers the jumper cables) for too long. If left on it creates a parasatic draw. The led display and the buck converter for the usb draws on the battery, thus the 3 reminder beeps

So this will not charge car batteries?
@Bassguitarist1985
@Bassguitarist1985 4 жыл бұрын
it will jump start your car's battery, meaning it will give the short term high current to crank the engine ONLY. Once the car is running, your cars alternator will do the charging. Someone else asked if this would "charge" a cars battery, and technically this is true, BUT....its only a short term burst of energy. To charge your cars battery from being fully depleted you need to run the car or put the battery on a proper charger.
