The game looks good from a distance but it starts to crack when you get a bit closer. For example, there are parts of Makna Forest with big roots leading into gigantic trees and the texture quality between them doesn't match at all and it's super jarring.

Just enormous changes that made every graphics and textures look more lively. Even Mechonis looks a lot better. Now i don't have to play on the 3DS anymore

It's really nice to see that on the Fallen Arm of the Mechonis no longer uses flat shaded grass textures and textures on the arm no longer look flat and painted and also decorating the Fallen Arm with real greenery is a very nice touch and looks more lively and organic.

i just have one baby complaint - I like the old cutscene with the pure white fog much better. Otherwise though they nailed it, and I'm usually super harsh on any remakes/retextures

I also noticed that Alcamoth isn't lit up with blue lights in the DE for some reason. Hoping they change that in the final release.

@@ArceusDX ​ Would be a weird change imo... Though I doubt that is the case because in another shot of Alcamoth during the day at 3:15, you can see that the blue lights are still there. Just a lot more subdued. (only realized this recently) Still prefer how it was before but it is better than no lights I guess. Granted, the game is still subject to change.

To me, I've never been a fan of the SUPER anime art style. It made XC2, while amazing, unbearable to play sometimes. (ESPECIALLY how they ruined Nia's, alongside many blades', design, and a whole bunch of forced anime troupes) That's why I LOVED XC1. Serious but expressive. P.S. That's not Reyn. That's Ryan.

One of my favorite changes they made was making a ton of objects that were textures before into actual 3D models. Some of the stuff protruding from the Mechom look super jarring in the original because they look like cardboard cutouts glued to the models.

Huge improvements on character models and lighting. Environments look noticeably better as well. However, the image is really soft and low res. This was the case for XB2 as well, leading me to think they are using that engine. I sincerely hope they can increase rendering resolution for the final release. Keep in mind that the original game was 480p and this looks almost as sharp.

It's hard because I played only a few hours into the first one, but now I dont know if I should wait to enjoy everything in HD, or play it all on the 3ds and be able to be excited for things coming up when I'm replaying it

I actually just realized Definitive Edition doesn't have subtitles like the old game which I really hope is an option you can turn on or is just carried over. Not for any particular reason though it just feels right.

They didn't changed it though. The models are just better at capturing their actual concepts. Xenoblade 1 models looks like expressionless wet dogs ffs, either being like X or 2 would be a huge improvement.

I think what I don't like about the remake is that they look a bit too "Anime" where in the original it was semi realistic, kind of like Final Fantasy. I wish they kept it like that. It gave them much more character.

What people are referring to when they want the game to keep it's "original art style" is for the characters to look more like the original game's official artwork. They're _NOT_ referring to the crusty, low-poly, low-res in-game models.

I don't like this as much as I want to. Shulk's hair looks like it has an unlit shader, and the faces look a bit more like XC2 instead of just being better versions of themeselves. I'd like a full blown remake for the next Nintendo console as the Switch isn't powerful enough for something that good

The actual artstyle of Shulk hasn't changed that much. His eyes still the same (but modern hardware) his hair has changed and is a tad brighter and bigger. Though his chin isn't as pointly, he still looks like good old shulk. It still the xc1 artstyle still, just modernised and better modelling. His hair only looks bright as he is directly under the sun, the two scenes with his in the mechcon attack looks great and so does the shoulder scene
