I'm becoming obsessed with Xiaomi. I wanted Vivo after i lost my Sony xPeria. Redmi Note 4 was already provided by Swazi Mobile and i said let me try out this phone. It was just amazing and i've never looked back. I'm scared i'm stuck with this brand, moreso because once i'm with curious people i display things their phones can only dream of. That's the wonders of MIUI. It's not the best phone worldwide but it's number 2 here in Swaziland after Samsung. iPhone is a no go area for our economy, only those who really want to stand out sacrifice that much. I can safely say Xiaomi sits comforably at #3 in South Africa after Samsung and iPhone.

They aren't using miui anymore and now are on HyperOs they are heavily testing and working on it across multiple devices in a beta system. Great Video and thank you for this!! Allthough as pro photographer for more than 20 years I am always surprised how misunderstood coloring, tinting and exposure are used at wrong places. At this case Xiaomi 14 pro is much more for professional users, letting you decide what you want to exposure or set focus on whily iPhone seems not to be as professional or adjustable when it comes to light, shadows and colors. If iPhone was much cheaper then it would be fairly okay. I wish reviewer would take some more Graphic and Photography Course before confusing people that want to decide what they should get for better use. but I understand that you just give at shots on hardware that is not available here right now and just doing your thing to get some money, and you are doing a great job!! love your videos!! 🤩

The zoom is good but it falters and has to keep refocusing and it is hard to notice. Also in the evening you see it in my short video , it is not good.

Is it possible for you to test Xiaomi 14 Pro with Gcam app? A lot of issues that you mentioned such as slight motion blur and overexposed images can ve fixed with that. Im still using Redmi K20 and the difference between stock cam and gcam images is huge.

Love to see more comparisons with P8 Pro. PS. loved that rant, it is so true on so many levels. In general, it is just crowd mentality, and it is not just because its Apple (its everything mainstream), if suddenly other brand would become more popular, everyone would be jumping ship to that brand and leaving Apple, it is the "sheep" way chasing the label and mainstream. With that said, Xiaomi is on a rise ever since Mi 10 Ultra, absolutely loved Mi 11 Ultra camera, and now Xiaomi really going out all in with the hardware and innovation, even software is becoming really good and honestly Xiaomi with Leica actually doing great things together, same as Vivo with Zeiss and even Lumia phones with Zeiss in the past.

The stills are only comparable to the ultra wide lens of the phones because the focal length is so wide. The DJI pocket 3 camera only good for landscape or group photos. Can't shoot portraits or street photography sith it. It's too wide

Hi Ben, can help to check on an interesting phenomenon presented by C4E tech. Seems that even though the mi 14 pro has F1.42 it usually default (even in good lighting) to F2 when shooting in automatic mode (ie default mode) Whereas the mi 14 (non pro) that has the F1.6 will shoot at F1.6 in automatic mode giving it a better bokeh than the F2.0 default of the 14 pro

Ben I would say that both cameras are fantastic but when you look at the difference in price then the Xiaomi becomes more attractive. I don't really care about iMessage and stuff like that so I see why people would buy the iPhone. But I really like how the 14 Pro is able to create dramatic looking photos and footage and keep them looking a bit more natural. That's why I lean towards it personally

Great photo comparison and review as always! Chinese brands always have very good hardware but I think their software is probably not as good. At the end of the day more competitor is always good as it will drive more innovation for each brand.

Great video, Ben. 1 comment and 1 question. The comment: the camera bumps of the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro are among the ugliest I've seen in any smartphone ever. The question: in China, Southeast Asia markets, what was the price difference between the 13 Pro and the 13 Ultra? Because I'm trying to figure out who would be the customer that would want to purchase a 14 Pro (if they are looking for the best Xiaomi camera, surely they'll want to wait and buy the 14 Ultra).

The price difference in Asia is about equivalent to US$200 difference
