I got mine in the mail today...never flown a heli in real life before. Did ok on the sim so I figured I'd be fine. So...I've now been a helicopter pilot for roughly 20 seconds. About 15 of those seconds were spent in panic. I have ordered three metal gear servos. A new tail assembly. New landing gear and frame. New main shafts....basically I ordered almost every single piece...because as I picked it up off the ground they were easy to identify one by one as they sort of dangled in the wind on the way back into my house. That sucked....a lot. Lmao. So ty for the video cause I am obviously in way over my head.

First thing I had to order, landing gear from micro heli. Always felt the tail was a bit too quick the rest was fine.
@vansonmafeet734

I had the same issue with the landing skids. First flight out I came down a little hard and cracked two legs on one side. I repaired them with Gorilla glue clear and that did the trick. I saw the end of the video where you show the settings. I'm using the X6 radio that came with the K130 and don't understand the values you use on your radio. I'd like to set it up for more tame flying until I get enough practice.
@Rchelicopterfun
@Rchelicopterfun 4 жыл бұрын
Taming any CP heli down consists of 4 basic steps: 1. Reduce the collective range (pitch curve programming). 2. Reduce the power output / lower head speeds (throttle curve programming). 3. Reduce throw of all 3 primary flight control channels to both tame response and increase stick resolution: tail rotor & cyclic (rudder, aileron, elevator). 4. Use exponential on your 3 flight control channels if you still find mid stick response too aggressive after taming down cyclic & tail with dual rates (dual rate reduction on its own reduces mid stick response a fair amount). The X6 like Futaba's radios uses negative expo to flatten mid stick response, not positive like most others (including the Horus radio I showed the values for in this video). I cover all that and much more including micro CP setup in my setup & tips eBook: www.rchelicopterfun.com/rc-helicopter-tips.html I also just finished an XK K110 review where I talk about taming the setup and list some values for the X6 radio which you may get some info out of: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKqsc2VjgLiNr80 I also just put up an X6 radio review where I go over all the settings but you likely know all that stuff already. Here's the link if you'er interested: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqu6aqBubZ5sis0

My pinion gear has moved down where it dont make contact with main gear. How can I push the pinion gear back on? Can I do it without removing motor?
@Rchelicopterfun
@Rchelicopterfun 4 жыл бұрын
The pinion has likely come loose on the shaft; they are held on with Loctite 648/similar bearing retaining compound. You may be able to pull the pinion the remainder the way off (to re-loctite it on), or pull up on the motor can to remove the pinion. The can is held on by the pinion on the bottom. There is also a small brass spacer collar between the pinion the lower motor bearing so make sure you don't lose it in the process and refit when you refit the pinion back on. You could try to just push the pinion back up on the shaft of course, but if it has moved down on the shaft, the retaining compound is not longer holding it and it will soon move down on the shaft again or just start spinning on the shaft whenever a torque spike hits.

Great reviews John, and thanks for all your flight school tips. Learning proper unstabilised heli flight has probably been the most difficult thing I've ever done, at one stage I nearly gave up as I thought I'd never get to the stage of actually flying a circuit. With practicing the steps you outlined it eventually clicked (slow learner LOL!), and it was a revelation to become comfortable with high speed backyard flying, surfing on wind gusts etc. Enjoyed watching your reviews of the K110 and K130. Unfortunately the 130 didn't live up to the great standards of it's little brother. Just done my first 2S 110 conversion, looks like a fun compromise on performance. Thanks again!

Hi John. What is the purpose of the button on top of the rotor head, I bought mine used, and it did not have that part, do you think it will effect how it flies?
@Rchelicopterfun
@Rchelicopterfun 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Joe, Head buttons are mostly decoration. Lack of one won't have any impact on flight. Head buttons do offer a little bit of head & blade grip protection when hovering inverted very close to the ground for those that like to mow the grass or sweep the asphalt with their egg beaters. 🙃

That thing looks really difficult to see. I hate flying mini helicopters in the wind. I bought a Blade mCPX BL2 a week ago but haven’t flown it outside yet because of the wind here in central Texas. My wife is getting tired of me zipping around the living room. I am really liking your Horus. I have been solid Spektrum since the original DX7. Using a DX9 now. I am perfectly happy with it but I like the flexibility and the looks of the Horus. Seems a really reasonable price too.

Hey John I wish I had a buddy like you… You're smart you're good at what you do your good thinker… Your video was stunning and surprising and fantastic at the same time… I learned a few things. Mostly I just thought you were amazing. I Use to fly helicopters many years Ago I never went 3-D… I would do loops roles simple things and I could bring them home every day mostly… I was quite successful then I quit and now my friend gave me the Blade nano S 3… And it's really fun that's what brought me here… Truthfully I wouldn't buy this helicopter it's what you said not my style… If I was going to go into an outdoor machine I would buy maybe a T Rex something with a great reputation. And considering how they explode you might as well go a little larger for outdoors for the stability… But anyway I'm just here to say your amazing this is the coolest video I think I've ever seen in my entire life… And you're an expert pilot

Not so with the K130. The positive wire of the lipo is going to the positive post of the XT30 connector. Balance plug is also conventional.

Great video! Thanks!! Which helicopter do you consider is better (easier to fly) for a beginner? This one or Eachine E160?
@Rchelicopterfun
@Rchelicopterfun 4 жыл бұрын
Neither. If you are looking for a micro size collective pitch heli to learn on and one that is fairly robust that will survive most impacts, the XK K110 would be my top pick. It's not overly powerful, it's well suited for beginners, and it's light along with being 1S powered so it doesn't release too much energy in a crash. Here's my review on it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKqsc2VjgLiNr80 Both the K130 & E160 will usually break something in a moderate crash due to having both more mass, more spinning rotor mass, and thus more energy release when crashing. Out of the two however, the E160 is by far the clear choice in my opinion. If you already have some CP flying experiance already & don't crash much anymore, then of course the E160 would be okay. My best RC helicopter page on my website may also help further if you are considering your first CP heli - it goes into much more detail of choosing your first CP heli: www.rchelicopterfun.com/best-rc-helicopter.html

@Rchelicopterfun
@Rchelicopterfun 3 жыл бұрын
Collective pitch is a totally different ball game from fixed pitch (yes much harder to fly). This is also not a good CP heli to learn on in my opinion. The XK K110 is much better suited for beginners and learning. Here's my review on it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aKqsc2VjgLiNr80 Collective pitch handles wind much better than fixed pitch, but keep in mind micro/small RC helicopters with little mass and small rotor area are never going to be able to handle large amounts of wind like a larger collective pitch RC heli. If you want lots of wind handling ability, best to join an RC heli club, get a bigger machine (500 or larger), and get one on one instruction from an instructor.

Love your channel! It's really a shame XK shifted away from the packaging they used on the K100, K110, K120, K123, and the K124 I felt that really gave it some extra value plus it really helped organize things! when I saw this unboxing the experience really just felt cheap to me which is a shame because I really like XK

You shouldn't of zip tied the battery wire to the landing skiddz man. The weight of the battery an inersha pulled the esc apart had no let go points.an I wouldn't even used that xt connected. Maybe a thick gauge jst.
@Rchelicopterfun
@Rchelicopterfun 4 жыл бұрын
The LiPo battery cable is not zipped to the landing skids, the ESC power cable is! That is done at the factory, I never put that zip tie in place if you watched the video , it was like that out of the box. When the battery went flying during the impact, it pulled the ESC wiring and that's what pulled the landing struts out. If the ESC power wires were not zip ties to the landing struts, the ESC would have still been torn from the frame, and perhaps even more damage would have been done to it. Some of the energy was absorbed by first tearing out the landing strut pins after all. If the ESC wiring was however zipped to a stronger part of the frame instead of the landing struts, that might have helped?
