I really hate the part where brad complain about the pressure level. of course you wont be able to tell. your art style uses hard thick solid lines so this level of pressure wont really matter to you. but for artist like me who has and art style that uses different line thickness/width. higher pen pressure is really a time saver cause I don't have to change the brush/pen size whenever I draw. I can just use 1 big size and draw with it from start to finish because I can just press light on the pen to produce a thin lines and if I want thick line I can just put a little pressure on the pen. so just because it's not useful to you "because you're not even utilizing it" doesn't mean it's not useful for everybody else. I'm using an pen with 8k pressure and my pen size is always at 200 and I don't have to change it to produce different line thickness. so that 16k pressure means I can leave my pen size to 400 and produce more different line thickness with it.
@KiloGraham Жыл бұрын
I like the rubber feet, the change to a remote and the aspect ratio. overall the design looks really smart or mature. but the lines look like they favor being micro thin or lipstick thick with little build up.

It sounds like they doubled the levels -- and they did -- but basically it went from 13 bit to 14 bit -- so perhaps it would be more appropriate to say it was a 7.7% increase (14 divided by 13) in sensitivity rather than a 100% increase (16K divided by 8K). Drive-by-wire throttle systems for cars and trucks, which measure the throttle pedal position and actuate the throttle bodies based on that position (but also several other factors) have increased in resolution. I believe the current state of the art is 14 bit -- 16K levels. 14 bit is probably overkill and I doubt anyone but a professional competitive driver could tell 8K levels (13 bit) from 16K levels (14 bit). But what's MORE important is the polling rate -- how often the measurement is taken -- and the system's ability to understand the delta -- how quickly the level is changing (i.e. how quickly or gradually you're requesting more throttle with your toes), along with how many other factors and nannies intervene to change the instructions to the throttle bodies. Linearity and latency are also a lot more important than having thousands of levels. Anyway, it's interesting to me that for pen displays the levels are touted but the polling rate is less prominently marketed. I had a digital guitar effects expression pedal in the 90s that had only 8 bit measuring -- 256 levels -- and the polling rate was slow. It wasn't great. But once you get above, say 11 bits -- 2,048 levels -- and a decent polling rate like 200 Hz -- I think you reach diminishing returns where the marketing may look like a bigger number but it's not giving back very much additional granularity. The level where this occurs is surely different for pen displays, automotive throttles, and guitar fx expression pedals, but the diminishing return aspect is real in all cases.
@alessandromorelli5866 Жыл бұрын
it's like saying going up from 1'000.000 to 10'000.000 is technically a 10% increase because it's just one more 0 one more bit doubles the ammount, that's it

After watching this i felt kinda scammed by XP-PEN. I got the Artist Pro 16tp, which is their highest end model. But the out of the box experience felt extremely lackluster when compared to this one. First of all it had no stand, not even the basic legs this one has, so you HAVE to spend extra to make this usable and not ruin your back. (also it doesnt even have any sort of Vesa support) Second it had no extra controller, or any hotkey support (which i imagine they consider the touch functionality a replacement for that) Third the Pen is not even their best pen. It has only one button and the same basic specs as the other pens they had at the time. It would have been nice that they at least make the new 3X pen backwards compatible with the 16TP. And lastly IT COST 3 TIMES MORE. And yeah it has 4k and touch screen support, but the reality is that 4k panels are not even that expensive anymore and touch functionality, specially on Windows is not as good as a proper tablet made for it. It works fine for what I use it for, but man it does sting a lot watching their new products get more love than their priciest model.

Diminishing returns! Unless you are drawing on a 4k+ screen + a LARGE canvas, you don't need that many levels. Honestly even the 8k pens are overkill. But it's a larger number to check off the list, so they do it.

Kinda bummed with this release tbh. When Huion came up with an essentially a Surface Pro clone but significantly better experience for doing art, I was hoping for XP-Pen to counter that with their own, or offer another feature that aren't yet offered by their standard lineups. I would appreciate for example, 120Hz refresh screen (which you will notice! I use my pen display as pen tablet sometimes for my 165Hz monitor and it felt so so great how smooth the lines came out!), better integrated touch screen display with their X3 pen tech, or their own Surface Pro clone. When their main selling point is 16,000 pressure sensitivity my thought was "nobody is going to be able to tell the difference! There's 2000 pressure wacom pen that works better than some 4000 pressure XP-Pen/Huion old model pens!" On the plus side, I guess my money is safe for now lol. Maybe I'll get an upgrade for next year or so.

To my dismay, my computer does not support the type-c mode needed for the tablet and therefore only a 3-in-1 cable, which is very sad. However, I found a huge discussion on the internet about how to add type-c with the right dp alt mode modes so that the tablet can be connected with a single wire. The only problem is 7.5 watts of power, for this pcie board, and this tablet supposedly requires 11 watts. But! There is a video of a wacom one 13 touch - working when plugged into this pcie board. Although its consumption on the wacom website is stated as the same as xp-pen, almost. So I write to xp-pen with a question - will this tablet, like wacom, start up with this board? The level of willingness to help is zero. They don't care at all. Maybe you can help me ? Ask xp-pen how much their tablet typically consumes and whether 7.5 watts is enough, as it was enough for the wacom tablet.

But if you want the added effect of the 16k pressure etc, I would rather buy the much cheaper Deco 2nd Gen class using that same 16k tech for finishing up one's artwork. Feature rich as they are, unfortunately these Xp Pen and Huion Screen Tablets simply do not last. The failure rate compared to cintiq is atrocious. Lines in screen, ribbon cable fails, no screen, etc. And worse yet, it seems to happen after the warranty ends! Hopefully this changes, but until it does, I cannot recommend them. I know so many that went back to their cintiqs. ): The non-screen based line is fine though. For screens I recommend cintiq , ipad pro, or samsung Galaxy Tab S line. >>>If you really feel you must buy a kamvas or artist, get a 4 year protection warranty!

random curiosity: I want to know what a 16000 levels of pressure looks like beside 1000 levels of sensitivity

It's a shame the wobble is still there, but less is always better. A high refresh rate would be nice, but then again this isn't a top end product. Don't worry about the double Brad at the end. More Brad is better!

16K pressure? I don't get it, aparently drawing tablet companies making product that just make the pen harder and harder to reach maximum pressure.

16k pressure is riduculous marketing bullshit that hopes to make you think there is 16k resolution monitor and 16k pressure in 2mm size pencil is completely irrelevant
