Lelouch's death is meant to mirror Euphy's death. Both die while the masses chant "ZERO ZERO" and their loved ones (Nunnally/Suzaku) cry over their corpse. And in both cases the world doesn't know the truth. In Euphy's case, she was innocent and under the influence of geass. In Lelouch's case, he played the role of evil dictator to unify the world in hatred against him and to willingly die as redemption for all his sins.

What I mean is if he got code from Charles, he's still "dead" as far as the world is concerned since he is spending eternity in exile with C2, never truely ending their lives as that would mean giving Code to someone else. They may have ended the order of the code, eliminated everyone with Geass, and undid every surviving geass command he ever made (except Suzaku, Schneizel, and maybe those 2 girls in the cat episode) but C2 and maybe Lelouch still has code, so to prevent Geass from ever being used again they need to keep Code to themselves.

@@tbush6657 no, in either the movie nor the anime does Lelouch get the code. in the movie C.C. even explicitly eplains that lelouch cannot have a code because he still has a geass. Lelouch does get a new power, but the movie repeatedly shows us that this sin't a code (for example, Shamna has the same geass and she gets geassed and dies, which is impossible for code bearers, and in the movie's picture drama Lelouch gets geassed too) Furthermore, C.C. explicitly explains that she literally resurrected his dead corpse, if Lelouch had had a code that wouldn't have been necessary. C.C. even admits she resurrected him against his wishes by saying "he wanted to stay dead but i insisted".

The series itself definitely has its problems, and not just a few of them, but one thing it does is at least go out with a bang. Not really sure about Gurren Lagann personally, but curious why you liked its ending? I already wasn't captured by most of the show, but the ending was something else. Yes, it was epic, the scale, the stakes, etc... But it didn't feel earned to me. Rule of cool was doing so much heavy lifting, because every time I took a moment to ignore the action, I was asking myself 'Wait what? Why?' and 'So the rest of the show was just a dull preamble with little to no character development?' idk. Could you tell me about why you liked it?

@@foureye7058 SPOILERS for anyone who hasn’t seen gurren Lagann yet obviously well I kinda disagree with you on the „no character development“ and „it didn’t feel earned“ part because it absolutely did for me, everyone took part and worked their hardest to get to the end they desired, and Simon is one of the examples i use when talking about character development done right, he’s the best Zero to Hero kinda character in anime for me. And Kamina is one of the most inspiring characters too and I love how he still basically is the most important character for the story even though he only effectively lasted 8 episodes. Now for the reason why I hold the finale in such high regard is because EVERYTHING comes full circle. Episode 1 „see that Simon, all the lights in the sky are our enemies“ episode 27 „the lights in the sky are stars. Stars where our spiral cousins are waiting for us“ No plot point is left unanswered, no stone unturned and they never break their established rules. They also don’t pull any emotional punches with Nia at the end in a „oh hey spiral power can bring back the dead“ kinda way. Nope, Simon is not omnipotent (he could’ve only done that and or bring back kamina in the universe thing where they fought the anti spiral) and what he says about „trampling on their Legacy“ or sth to that extent is true, it’s kinda like Erwin said in his speech in AoT season 3 „we are the ones who will make the fallen‘s sacrifices and lives be worth it“

Lelouch is one of the greatest protagonists out there. Set out to do his mission to make the world a better place for Nunnally and he did that by making everyone hate him. He entrusted everything to Suzaku and went out like a boss. Very few will ever know that he was a hero. And he'll probably be hated for a long time by a lot of people. But he made the world a better place. And Suzaku will live on as Zero, fulfilling his best friend's dream and protecting thing he loved the most.

Someone new will come around and mess shit up or a resource will be running low somewhere and that will force that state to get those resources by force if trading is unable to solve the shortage. It might not happen during the lifespans of the still living cast but it will happen eventually.

Suzaku works so well because of his character arc. He starts off earnest, but foolish. He argues with zero about the ends not justifying the means. Then he transformed into exactly that type of person (what he sees as the ugly side of zero) and we as the audience are not conditioned to like that because he's still against zero even if he does similar evils. Suzaku doesn't miraculously change again at the end, you just like it now because he finally is blowing up shit with his boy.

Yeah, and i kinda love how at first Diethard is very adamant about fabricating the story that Zero is the messiah, and the black knights and the elevens buy into it, we even see some of them clutching a picture of Zero when times get rough like when Euphy goes on her rampage. So they spend the whole time trying to present Lelouch as the messiah who is going to right the world. And in the end that's literally what happens, he dies for the sins of the world like a true messiah.

Zero requim: Lelouch created the Black Knights and Zero in order to be a symbol of peace that resonated with the Japanese civilians against the aristocracy. Then he became the embodiment of the Aristocracy against the Japanese people. All so he could have the Zero kill him publicaly to let the world as one know that the aristocracy would never succeed again in the new world under Zero created by Lelouch.

I agree, this anime remains as one of the most iconic anime of all time back when I watched it. It was truly a masterpiece and a league of it's own. The songs, the scenes, the characters, the scores, the plots were all beautifully pieced together. As the plan has suggested, Zero Requiem was a plan created to put all the hatred and anger to rest along the fallen souls. By the word "Zero", it means to bring the entirety to null and start anew. "Requiem" being a Mass for the repose of the fallen, and also to commemorate and remember their sacrifices. Lelouch chose to play the devil's card and as the medium to take in the world's attention, their hatred and angers all focused towards him, and he will bring all of down alongside his "tyranny" into his "grave". In the story, Suzaku and Lelouch have both perished, one in the fight against Guren, one being stabbed in the execution parade. Both existences have disappeared and each one of them represent one thing while losing another. Suzaku lost his identity and live under a false name and unable to repent through death, bind by an eternal sin and guilt to deliver the justice the world wanted to see till he dies. To give hope, Lelouch lost his future with his one and only sister but presented the world with another reason to continue living, ironically his was death, because only his death can bring the world anew and together, the final Geass casted anonymously was to give hope for the future. These are written in the official guide book which was also pointed out by one of the comments: "For those two who bear the heavy sin known as killing their fathers, they share the belief that they can forgive each other by imposing the greatest punishments on themselves. Death for Lelouch who wishes for a tomorrow with his sister, life for Suzaku who wishes to atone for his sins through death. Suzaku, who accepts the weight of Zero's mask, gives his gratitude to Lelouch. For the fact that he can atone for his sins. For the results of fulfilling his own wish." Episode 25 was a bit rushed in my opinion but they managed to cramp a lot of information into this episode. The flashback, the hint given by Cecile when she was in the cell, C.C's last words. Another reason why this show is a masterpiece is there's no specific endings. The director left it to the audiences to decide for their own, which ending this anime had if you gather the hints throughout the episodes, you will realise there are more than one ending. Personally, the one character I hated the most is Nunnally, especially when she threatened her brother to use Geass in "The Grip of Damocles" episode, something we all know why Lelouch picked up this power, was to create a better world just for her. But as his role and involvement gets heavier, when he created the Black Knight the sins he created making him unable to return to the life he once had (one of the worst incident was him unable to control his power and caused the massacre by Euphy), he grew so much in an instant that he casted geass on Nunnally, just so he can carry on with this plan not just for Nunnally, but for the entire world which include her. Unfortunately, Lelouch's acting is too good that even his own sister, was unable to see through his lies until the very end. It pained me so much when I see him spoke to Nunnally in her Geass state. "The only people who should kill are those who are prepared to be die themselves."

Lelouch's ultimate victory is even more impressive to me because of all the sheer bad luck (that no one could have seen coming) that screwed over his plans and his life so many times. And his group was so outgunned and outnumbered for so long. But in the end, he managed to get almost everything he wanted, albeit at the cost of his own life. Bravo, Lelouch. Bravo.

Someone probably will have already told you but there is a Code Geass film that came out last year that takes place 7 years after the end of this show and finnishes off alot of loose ends in typical geass fashion. It's called Code Geass, Lelouch of the Re; surrection. I would recommend / ask/plea you react to it ir just give it a watch in your spare time!

Lelouch and Suzaku both really have contrasting characteristics: Lelouch a Britannia who was abandoned by his own country and wanted to destroy britannia through outside Britannia itself using those who have beened conquered against the said colonizer, while Suzaku on the other hand was a Japanese who was forced to abandon his land by killing his father, then join the system to change Britannia from the inside by being one of them. Lelouch's wish was to live a happy life with his sister while Suzaku's is to atone for what he had done during the war by dying. The end result is Lelouch instead died (Series Universe) and Suzaku was still alive, but they got what they wish for on a different point of view. For Suzaku, he died as the Japanese who wants to change the Governing body from the inside abandoning every bit of who Suzaku is. He now live his life a Zero. Lelouch on the other hand lives by the name of the one who Conquer and dictate the world through genocide and fear. Both characters are so opposite that its rare for them to be written so good and that includes hating Suzaku during the series progression.

Not season 3. It's completely different. This 2 season anime has nothing to do with it. Code geass Z of the recapture will be the sequel of resuction. Chronology will be like, the trilogy movie(koudou,handou&Oudou) then the fukkatsu and next the new one the recapture. The new anime story will be (I think) the origin of geass.. but i'm not still sure.

While true, it should be stressed that the alternate timeline is 90% identical to the original one, with the only real plot point that contradicts being that Shirley wasn’t killed, because her storyline was cut from the films and never had a reason to die on screen.
