Great video. This allowed me to program my new FT5. He speaks clearly and to the point. Other youtubers on here jerk their heads around, roll their eyes etc., trying to be more animated when all they are doing is wasting time and looking silly.

Nicely done video, made programing the radio look much easier than it seem by just reading the manual. Really grab my attention when you programed in the Clara repeater, as I started using that repeater back in 1986. Heck, I was even a vice president of the club once. Again, thanks for the video.

Came back to watch this again, twice. Super-helpful. Very grateful. Santa was good to me; I now own this radio and I am stoked. I installed the cable driver which seemed to go in fine, but am unable to see the com port info in the way they suggest (to confirm installation) at the end of the instructions. Nothing about ports listed in my device manager and gave up after googling a while. Looking at the pc's application "uninstall list", I can see it in there, so I figure it's good to go. Still, a bit nervous to brick a band new radio on my first attempt. I've entered a few local repeaters through the front end, but have a ton more I'd like to do in various groups/banks. Loved your suggestion of naming groups by the area that repeaters are in and will use that for having fun with this radio on business/leisure travel.

is the program free to download or do you have to purchase the programming software and purchase programming cable separate?

Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment! It is greatly appreciated. You do not have to by a cable. you can use the San Disk that is in the FT-5 for programming. The ADMS-14 software can be downloaded from the Yaesu website in the file section for the FT-5
