Greetings from Wales. Got the new MT09 myself 3 weeks ago, same colour, called Tech Black over here and includes the quick shifter as standard (sorry!). Fitted a usb charge port, bolt bike mount for my phone and wheel graphics so far... Still haven't ridden it as the weather here is still cold and wet - will have to make do with drooling over it in my garage till it warms and dries up. Looking forward to your up coming videos mate. Be safe, cheers :)))

Awesome David ! I'm from the UK myself, but was a young lad when we moved to Canada ! Was just south of you mate, Yoevil UK.Yes, you Europeans are lucky as the Q/S is standard where us in North America must buy it as an accessory, I think it simply helps with the retail pricing of the unit. not sure what is the actual motive behind it. Same here, we are Feb and the riding season doesn't really get a move on until early May, so my bike has been placed on our head office for display LOL, I get to see it daily as its not to far from where I sit and well I know it will stay clean and gives our visitors the opportunity to check out the add-ons. Thanks for the warm welcomes and the support from you and everyone else out there !I truly appreciate it all !Rob Dyer

@itsadyerthing
@itsadyerthing 5 жыл бұрын
Good day Micah Morgan. First off, I want to thank you for our support, I truly appreciate it mate. I presume you are in the states and have been looking at the rad guard offered by YMUS being its Genuine products etc,, I love my boys south of the border and support them with many of their accessories however I hate to say it but this one in my sense is not a good choice. Let me explain why, from 2014 to 2016 FZ09 here in North America had a specific type of radiator and the construction of it allowed for the current rad guard you see on the genuine Yamaha USA website to be installed carefully without to much danger of rad failure as it does require the assistance of zipties to hold it in place, these zip ties are passes through specific areas of the rad and singed down, for 2014 to 2016 these sport is simply tabs and supports within the radiator system and have no coolant running through.However for 2017 to 2019 the rad was completely changed and yet the same rad guard was offered. problem now with the newer rad is there is no longer the support bracket that you used to ziptie up against and now that area is simply a extra cooling channel and fins, in order to install this same rad guard, one would have to bend away at the cooling fins is all 4 corners and pass a ziptie through here and singe it down on 4 very fragile cooling channels.Not a very good idea.for 2017 to 2019 the bikes are equipped with support brackets and hardware on each side that hold those floating deflectors, this is now where many accessory rad guards go and attach to, Yamaha Europe and us here in Canada have followed that route, we simply stay away from the fragile sections of the rad and a guard should be there to protect it, not make it is sketchy.. My two cents worth!Anyways, You can either watch one of my newer videos to show you want we use and recommend and they try to find this or similar setup in your market area, I would even suggest ebay, if you cant find this exact one or if you rather not spend that much for it then there are many 3rd party market ones that work just as well, you just need to find one that had attachment arms and will mount upon to the rads mounting points and not into the radiator itself !~ Thre are many out there... Just stay away from the ziptie attachment ones for 2017 and newer.Yamaha Rad Guard for 2017 to 2019.BS2-FFRAD-C0-00CheersRobHere is the link to my newer accessories listkzbin.info/www/bejne/a5SyiIttptSrf5Y

I am a fan of the Koso Apollo heated grips with the controller integrated into the left grip. Highly recommend! Same for the Ram Quick Grip XL phone holder. Spring loaded and holds the phone more securely than the X grip, plus no worries about positioning the phone so side buttons are not accidentally pressed.

Yeah Yamaha is in need of new heated grips due to supply chain issues. I had mentioned the Apollo, you are happy with yours ? How long have you been a owner of them. I have moved away from Ram and now with Quadlock. That is super great for all my bikes both on road and off

@@itsadyerthing I had the Apollo grips on my z650 for a year (before selling the bike when I got my FZ09) and they're really fantastic. I'm installing them on the Yamaha tomorrow afternoon. They have 5 different settings, a memory that remembers the last setting, and a low battery detector that will shut them off if you accidentally leave them on (irrelevant when you wire them so they only function when the key is on). I recommend them all the time for those reasons and the bonus of not having to mount a separate controller. I'm learning all kinds of things about the Fz09 from your channel - glad I subscribed!

Hey Rob, back to the sport sheild. I have same exact model color etc. Really want the yamaha sport screen you have just a couple of questions. Does it make a big difference in regards to deflection? because at high speeds the wind I take on my upper body are insane. And also at high speeds have you experienced any wobbling due to the sport screen itself like on other brands like puig. I'm definitely going to buy it soon there's just not alot of reviews on the yamaha sport screen. Thanks!
@itsadyerthing
@itsadyerthing 5 жыл бұрын
Ian Curtis the sport screen I wouldn’t go without !! Totally takes all the pressure off the chest and helmet then simply cuts the wind nicely without the feeling of buffeting, I’m close to 6’ tall so yeah I sit high in the bike and I love it for sure ! As for wobble and so on. I would first start checking your suspension setting and make sure it’s properly set for you even for street. You want to make sure the bike is balanced , I ran a damper last year but will not be running one this year which was same as 2017 and I’ll simply set the bike up and it will perform nicely ! Well we will see when I get it out lol.. I like the Yamaha sport screen because it’s adjustable.. Cheers and happy holidays!! Rob

Awesome video thanks for the walk around ! I’m a month off from getting my own in the tech black too but we in Australia are lucky enough to get the quick shifter from the factory :) with the heated grips and aux port are they both Yamaha ? Also which panniers are you thinking of going ? I too am looking to go with side panniers and not worry about a top box. Do you think I will have issues with the indicators ? Cheers mate, safe riding
@itsadyerthing
@itsadyerthing 6 жыл бұрын
Rekless thanks for the support and kind words mate, I’m so jealous you’re down under ! I would so be tempted to move in.. I have lots of family in Australia to! North American units units use bigger flashers if I am correct so it’s makes for installing saddlebags tricky unless you modify your flashers which then no longer legal so I can’t encourage that so don’t do what I did! There’s my disclaimer lol and keep in mind this is not a Yamaha channel ! I am going with semi rigid saddlebags from Shad, I already have the rear rack and top case from Yamaha Europe which I would be using more often than side bags, I didn’t want to go with a permanent mounted system. The top case rack only uses 4 bolts to hold it in place which would be the same location for the mounts to the semi rigid bags, it would be a 5 min install when I want to use bags, they are very stealthy in look too and have nice white accent lines which ties in with the bike. So that is what I recommend unless you want lovable and weather proof then Shad also offers hard cases too and their mount system which is very discreet, called 3P system, so depends on what your doing with your indicators, if your keeping the, stock then use the mount for 2017 units, it relocates then but it’s a permanent solution, if your going with smaller indicators or a tag eliminator then then you can use Shad’s older kits for the earlier FZ09models. Here’s a link to their products for your viewing pleasure. Refer to pages 28, 38 and 42,, www.shadusa.com/pages/2018-catalog I hope to post another video soon of the unit competed, the weather is against us right now.. for the time being you guys can check out the progress on my instagram page. @robdyer1975 Keep the comments and questions coming guys, it’s nice to reach out to fellow enthusiasts
@itsadyerthing
@itsadyerthing 6 жыл бұрын
Rekless oh and sorry I forgot to add the response about connections. The MT09 has three aux connectors which allow accessories to hook up without the need to battery connect and or splice into your power. There is 2 on the left side of the bike and one on the right side. All are found behind the scoops and the right side one is a little higher up under the fuel tank. There is the 4th for North America which is the one for the quick shift but that’s already used up for you guys.. The connectors on front are used for aux power plugs, heated grips and aux lights.. I’m using Rigid Industries Ignite light kit which I made my own harness with a factory connector to plus into the right side port.. All is great because it all works with the ignition so I’m not worried about a prankster draining my battery when the bike is left alone.. Not that it’s hard to bump start it if the battery was dead!! Cheers mate !

Brian W thanks for the comment and support Brian, as you said, it’s a toss up for Colour, both are matte finish and that grey with fluorescent wheels does pop but matte black colour style never gets dull either ! I’m not a fond of flashy colours so thus why I went basic and added my own personal preference. Just got the two videos of the new 2018 MT09so far, still too early in the season to ride so for now it will sit there and tease me !! Either colour you choose, you’ll still be a winner !!! Found a Shad seat today on Kijiji for a reasonable price that I think I've got a deal on. I'm the clown with a seat and handful of other add-ons in my garage, just don't have the bike yet! Brian W, deals are great Brian but you got to watch the none dealer retail market. What I say but this is your product warranty. Buying used of from a private sale well you are not covered under manufacture warranty. When you purchase from a dealer well this is where there is a price difference, it’s also covers your product under warranty, all accessories from Yamaha carry a 1 year warranty from retail date. Now yes this is just a seat and it doesn’t take abuse but if there is ever an issue with it within the first year of owning it, you know you’re covered! But it from a private market well you’re SOL. Sorry so do keep that in mind when it’s time to purchase... As you said yourself, Black is Bold ! Cheers and have a great season !!

Hey Stephane, thanks for your view and comment. I prefer the FZ / MT due to the fact that I can dress it up the way I want and there is a lot of options out there, If I want to go as street fighter and bad A$$ then it will stay naked, if I want to cruise and travel then I can add my bags, if I want to track with it then strip it down. the FZ is a great blank canvas for what you want to do where as the FJ or Tracer can not be stripped down to go with the mood you're feeling at that moment. Seats are not the most comfortable in fact many complain about them and there is not that many options out there.always easier to dress up than stripe down. The SP version is super hot and I know you'll love it. we have yet to see the SP version here in North America... love the colors of it too ! that white and blue combo rocks ! Cheers Mate !Rob

@itsadyerthing
@itsadyerthing 6 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply, there was a hiccup with youtube comment section.. love that Yamaha Yoshimura exhaust ! I cant wait to get it back onto my bike, only downside about it is that it's badged for model specific so this is a con when it comes to keeping your exhaust if you had a FZ and then buy the MT here in North America. So yeah I got this exhaust when i had the FZ09 which was released for the FZ09 with the badging for FZ, the exhaust didn't sell when I so my 2017 so i said ill simply put it on my 2018 which then turned to be named MT for 2018.. oops. oh well not to worry and its no big deal. But yes I love that exhaust and once the warmer weather finally gets here Ill be able to install it back on and get the bike out of the office and onto the road ! So sorry for the lack of posting new video's ! just waiting to get into the last step of completion of the bike before it goes outside ! and this is all weather related ! still to cold and messy to get the bikes out safely ! At that time I liked the shorter wheel base and overall look of the bike when I didn't gear it up. It's easier to add to a naked bike that is to remove from a fully dressed bike. So many things would no longer look nice if done that way. I simply liked the fact that I can make it street fighter style on night and get it gear up for touring long weekend the next. Literally takes minutes to gear it all up with touring products... Cheers and thanks for your support and feedback. Both FJ Mt are great bikes regardless what direction you take. I know the MT09 has a lot of kick and it isnt the best for a beginner but I didnt want to buy an MT07 knowing that a year later or so I would probably want to upgrade and then go through all the trouble of selling and then buying again. I'm in toronto as well btw which is why im asking lol.

@itsadyerthing 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Iceteakilla. first off, thanks for the support and questions. As many people say that OMG the MT09 is not a beginner bike. I will always say otherwise, only for a few simple reasons. Its as controllable as FZ07 and easy to use but it offers great features such as adjustable traction control and throttle modes. many people say that the MT or FZ-09 are wheelie monsters etc, yes its true but all bikes are easy to wheelie and in fact I prefer to be a hooligan on a FZ07 than anything else ! But the FZ/MT09 like I said earlier offers something that the others don't, allows you to dial it down so you can actually make the bike really docile, 100% anti wheelie ! yes.. you can set your traction control to the max so the second that front wheel lifts then the power is off so you're not going anywhere ! to when you can have slight lift but no wheel spin to all out fun run,same for your throttle response, you can make it super smooth to super sketchy with a push of a button. Everyone that I know who started off with a FZ07 all wished they went straight with a FZ09 so this tells you something ... now again doesn't mean you can jump on a FZ09 and think it will be kind to you regardless, you still need be reasonable and responsible too ! regardless of any bike ! you can still get seriously hurt whether its 50cc or 1900cc ! be a smart rider and live to ride everyday !now as for insurance. regardless with what you choose, you're starting at the bottom of the pole so you're gonna be paying out a pretty penny, you know that Ontario has very high rates ! Welcome to the sport of motorcycles !get yourself part of a group and chat with multiple insurance companies. again common logic, higher displacement the higher the premium ! only you can find a balance point for that... I love my MT09 and loved them all for the past few years, once I got myself on the 09 triple I knew this was the perfect balance for me ! ill stick with them every year I can while im at Yamaha and they continue to roll them out the production line !!Cheers and have a great season mate !

Are there any difference between the 2017 Fz 09 and the 2018 MT 09? Also do you still have that Candy red 2017 Fz-09?
@itsadyerthing
@itsadyerthing 6 жыл бұрын
old12school3 good day old12school3, first off thank you for your comment and viewing. There is no difference between the 2017 and 2017 other than their model name and colours. In 2017 there was the dark metallic red which many refer to candy apple red. The 2018 offers a vivid red which is like a hot old school Ferrari red lol. These colours are know are offered for Canada. Along with that matte black and then the matte grey with them fluorescent wheels where last year it was gloss pastel grey looking with the fluorescent wheels. From my understanding, the naming FZ TO MT now is more for global and unified branding, this way there is no confusion between countries and models worldwide. Makes sense to me.. They are a fantastic bike regardless and they are getting harder to find at dealerships due to high demand, if you find the colour you want then don’t wait too long as she’ll be gone ! Cheers and have a great season Rob

I am around 5'11' short, I love the sport shield and have been using the sport shield for a few years now, its my one of top 5 must has accessories!It doesn't blow the wind over your helmet, but it does take lots of pressure off your chest area. I ride 8hrs at a time and I feel no fatigue what so ever and this is at fairly consistent high speeds. I wouldn't go with the smaller one unless you simply want looks, I like the Sport shield as is also tends to fill up the gap in the front area of the bike. The Sport shield comes with two height adjustments too !Im a happy campers. and I find it gives the bike a nice look regardless.Cheers and have a great season.Rob

Hi, greetings from India. Thanks for uploading a wonderful and informative video. I have a couple of questions. I bought a 2018 Triumph tiger 800 xcx 2 months back, after riding for 1200 kms I feel it’s huge relative to my height of 5.8. Though the traction, handling, braking is quite good on the highways, it’s a bit scary in the winding uphill roads. I happened to buy a new Yamaha FZ 250cc bike for my son.. it’s a pleasure to ride in the city traffic, that’s when I realised it’s better to change over to a more nimble bike. Say around 170-180 kgs would be ideal. I am considering selling my tiger and go for mt09. Mostly I would be touring with very negligible off roading. Do you think MT 09 would suit my style.
@itsadyerthing
@itsadyerthing 6 жыл бұрын
Suresh Donthi, wow first off I can’t believe my videos are making it all the way to India, how cool is that!! Well thank you for reaching out Suresh! I think MT or Tracer09 would suit everyone’s style hahaha.. All kidding aside. That is one thing I can’t seem to rave enough about, the MT series are so agile and nimble at both high speed and low speed, they succeed very well at low speed! This is one of many reasons why MT07 was considered as a beginner for the European market just because you do not fight with them at all! You look where you want to go and it will follow your lead with full authority! Not sure what the market offers you in India but both MT09 and Tracer would make you giggle and be a great rider for sure ! You can gear up your bike with all kinds of luggage both hard case or semi rigid to soft bags! Lockable to quick release. Tons of options out there ! Keep us posted and stay safe !!! Thanks again for your support and view.. Cheers Rob

I would prefer MT 07 initially and upgrade to MT09 few years down the lane. once again my appreciation for your good work.

@itsadyerthing
@itsadyerthing 4 жыл бұрын
Sparrow415 to BKK hey Sparrow415, compared to the first generation of FZ09 the seats changed angle so you’re not sliding forward. Net design is more level but does not lower the seat height... if you’re looking for a great seat, I would highly suggest and recommend the Shad comfort seat. This does lower slightly as the shape is nice so that’s what will give you easier ground reach but angle and comfort is by far hands down best ever !!!!! Hope this helps Rob

Hey Vladislav, yeah the FZ09 and MT09 for 2017 and 2018 are following along the routes of Europe. Some like it and some don't, I think I know where your thoughts are on this one.. LOL I wasn't a huge fan of it until I removed it. but anyways its staying off now. Normally I also run my bike with the Yamaha rear rack carrier and luggage so it all works well together and looks half decent too. but yes if you want to totally clean up the back please do it properly and not like some people out here with a hack job ! this street tag eliminator comes from Yamaha USA. it comes not only with its proper brackets and flasher relocate assy but also has axle block and new axle itself so this way you properly remove the side arm.,The instructions are well laid out and no messing around with wire connectors so everything stays stock just re-routed properly. its a well designed system and worth every penny. Here are a few links that may help out for reverence. I have included my instagram page so you can see the results of this kit and then a link to the actual product itself. Why move the plate up from the wheel to the tail?
@itsadyerthing
@itsadyerthing 6 жыл бұрын
Luis Salcedo hey Luis, thanks for the question and it’s a good one at that.. Some people don’t like the European design ( floating plate ) and some just like it how it was from 2013 to 2016. Myself i did grow fond of the floating plate design but because I wanted to put on side cases with a specific setup and didn’t want to relocate my indicators up higher past the seat I went for this tag eliminator design.. I have a multiple luggage bag setup which I’ll be using this year so I did it for simplicity of changing my side cases from one style to another.. If it wasn’t for that, I would have left it the way it was.. Bust for many people, they simply don’t like the large plate hanging off the backside.... Yamaha does offer options that clean this up without having to remove it entirely... All about personalization 😉😉 Cheers and have a great season... Rob

belroad naturals that’s a tricky question. All depends on how comfortable you are with managing height challenges. The seat height is around 32” and the ground clearance is just over 5” I would say try a rear suspension lowing kit and then lower your front forks through the triple clamps which will allow you to gain at least 1 to 2” at the most which brings your seat height to 30” You may have to side saddle at stops. Again all depends on how comfortable you are with handling this bike at a standstill.. It’s all about the operator.. Only one way to find out and that would be to visit you local Yamaha dealership ! I used the Yamaha heated grips. Do I'd I enjoy them yes and price is pretty good. Do they heat great, hmm I would say not a good as Oxford Heated grips. A few differences. Between the two.i do have a video explaining the Yamaha heated grips. Do take a look and you'll also be able to find oxford heated grips.. for my 2020 build, I'll be using oxford heated grips cause because I'm using the MT10 and there is no direct plug and play unlike the MT09. hope this guides you in a direction you're looking for Rob

It's A Dyer Thing thanks for the great explanation. I’m trying to decide if I should get a 2018 MT-09 with 2100 miles on it. It’s bone stoke and the out the door price is $6900. Do you think that’s a good deal. I value your opinion, you seem extremely knowledgeable with these bike and I truly enjoy your videos.

@@caputo116 I presume this is us funds. I presume a few dealers may still have 2019 left and if I would have to guess, selling for 8500. So 7000 and 2100miles isn't bad at all. Is it a dealer selling this or a private sale ? Private sale see if you can get a few bucks off. Dealer sale, see if you can get either extended warranty or a free seat from Shad seats. Either way 7000 is not bad at all and I can assure you, that you're getting a super reliable bike that packs a whole lot of fun in it, you'll be super happy!!! 2100 miles just means its finished its break in woohoo !!! The boring part is done on the other hand, do you have history of the bike, as long as the break in was done correctly and they have serviced it then should be good. Does the idle sound smooth and stable. Is the back tire properly worn or simply a flat spot ? You have any bike buddies to also be an extra set of eyes for you. Not saying you're not good, just saying more eyes the better the results are for spotting any possible hiccups. It's still an investment and you want to have trouble free play so Yamaha mt09 is a good start and I know you'll be super happy. P.s. yes the drive chain is super tight with no slack !! Crazy eh !!! Keep us posted on how you do. Better yet get a video posted of your new ride !!! Love to see how things turn out for you... Cheers and happy holidays F Caputo ! But yes 7000 for this bike and this year is set correctly and very fair !!! Rob

Jeff Hauser good day Jeff, first off thank you for your support and view along with your comment. Depending on your location, I have included direct links to the Yamaha accessories page for this particular shield which is known as the Yamaha sport shield. Some regions ( Yamaha’s) may be selling the mount separately so do read the details. It’s a very good shield and allows adjustment in height if 1.5” give or take a bit. I’m a almost 6’ height rider and I can tell you that this shield takes all the pressure of wind off of my chest and face area yet still looks very sporty and fills in that front section gap super nicely. I actually changed mine up a bit more with a MT logo on the underside which you will all see if you check out my instagram page and or stay tuned for my next video to come out shortly.. Here are the direct links to the shield and trust me, you will be very pleased with looks and functions. Have a good season Jeff.. In the links provided you’ll get to see the details and features along with part numbers and MSRP pricing for hopefully your area. It's A Dyer Thing let me ask you one more question I want to get this bike soon but absolutely hate those blinkers any stock blinkers aren’t really too appealing have you ever looked into an intergrated taillight a long with hand guard blinkers ?
@itsadyerthing
@itsadyerthing 6 жыл бұрын
jaredv408 last years bike I kept stock. This year I went with little single strip led style lights found on AliExpress and then got myself a LED flasher relay with stock connector. All of that for less than 16.00 bucks Canadian which equals out to 4 bucks USA ! Haha kidding.. But yeah I totally went aftermarket on the flashers this year... Go to AliExpress website and type in search bar LED flasher motorcycle, you’ll know what ones I bought, then search for a relay for your bike and then your done or to finish it off real nice, get flasher mount covers to fill in the existing oversized hole and allow you to place these ones in place...

@itsadyerthing
@itsadyerthing 4 жыл бұрын
Dont get me wrong, XSR is a nice bike and build on the same DNA but there was always one that I and so many of us just can't deal with on the XSR900. The shape of the fuel tank shape at the seat where your upper inner thighs go! Like if you rest your legs up and hug the tank well its within a matter of minutes you will start to feel the discomfort... the XSR700 is a much more comfort fitted bike ! Only of they could fix that bad tank design. 2020 model just came out and again beautiful bike with it's super sexy color scheme but that fuel tank hurts the rider unless you're like super bowlegged possibly like the designers and testers lol... Just my 2 cents worth. On the other hand maybe lower insurance premiums would make you think past the comfort, not me. Cheers and Merry Christmas 2019 ! Rob

Why people put tail tidy.....?
@itsadyerthing
@itsadyerthing 5 жыл бұрын
Tom H hey Tom... I think tidy tails originated for super sport bikes which simulated the GP bikes and make them super sleek... why do people put tidy tail on the MT09 I do not know... my first one I didn’t change the license plate bracket and I wasn’t very happy with it. This one you see in this video I did remove and put a tidy tail and was not happy.. the back end looked too empty and lost. My 2019 model I simply replaced the big license bracket to the Yamaha accessory one which is still hover over the back wheel but much smaller... The MT09 looks good with the special plate holder and I wouldn’t put a tidytail again.. You can check out a few of my newer videos and will see my latest tail install... Over the next day or so I’ll go over all my installed accessories... Cheers and thank you for your support.. Rob

🤣🤣🤣 totally agree with you.that was the 2018 mod. 2019 I kept the original location just a smaller plate holder and totally preferred it that way. It was just a way to test new goods. But yeah so many actually remove this to put it where the first generation had them which is kinda pointless. I like the floating system myself too. Cheers and thanks for reaching out. Stay safe.. @itsadyerthing
@itsadyerthing 6 жыл бұрын
Bill Hamilton lol not many fans on the DOT signals. I think there was a huge stock full of them still at YMC, all MT and FJ series in North America are using them except for the MT10. Would be nice to see a stance soon but I don’t think that will happen any time soon.. I’m sure it has to do with keep costs down on these units too. The headlight away isn’t as bad as you say. It’s all about personal preference and what the trends seems to be lately. Fill up the empty portion with a shorty or sport shield and well it looks pretty decent. I went with the Yamaha accessory signals instead of aftermarket ones. Two reasons. Aftermarket broke before the bike was taken out into the streets and well cause Yamaha ones looked way better anyways ! I no longer have the bike due to the fact that I was hit by a car while on it.. I’m blessed to still be here writing this as I was a heartbeat away of possibly in a worse situation! But the bike didn’t survive as the frame was compromised in multiple places along with serious front end damage.. Hope you find a bike that meets your expectations and style.. of not then make it yours mate, thats half the fun! Cheers Rob
