i am having troubles with the switch was wonder if i could connect with you about it, it has to do with the switch and where the wires come into it.

I'm.sure I had a very similar bike here in the UK..it was a dt 175? Looks almost identical. It was a great bike for the field.

jason andrews That's awesome. I think the DT and CT are pretty similar.

I started the restoration by rebuilding the carburetor, and making sure it had spark. Good luck with your bike. Keep us posted.

What repair manual are you using? I fount this online & I'm not sure if it's a good reference. 1973 Yamaha CT3 Repair Manual Clymer M410 Service Shop Garage Maintenance

Hi great video. I got same bike 100% complete but like yours its been sitting since late 70's. When you fired it up did you have to have a battery installed? I'm still waiting on battery . I have no spark. Have power up to coil while kicking but no spark . I have a good ground and have tried several working coils. Any Ideas? Thanks again for video. Really helped with my no key issue!!
@muddyfences55597 жыл бұрын
me You don't need a battery to start this bike. The battery simply runs the tail light, and maybe the signal lights. A no spark condition could be the spark plug, spark plug wire, or even the boot, the coil, or the magneto (including the timing aka gap.). Best of luck getting the bike running.

I have mostly everything except all wiring. Where would you look I’m a bit skeptical buying from someone on eBay

I purchase a .pdf version of the repair manual several years ago. It really is the only tool available. Give it a try. I think it will be fine.

This is where im at. If it doesn't run, it may go on EBay for parts.

Jeff. I apologize for these delayed responses, my YT message thingy seems to be broken. I found a copy of the manufacturers manual on Ebay. When you order it, you get a .pdf and a CD. It's not bad, but is not as detailed as the Clymer manuals, in my opinion. Most of the repairs I made were done without the manual though.

Pretty late, but this bike will run without the switch installed. Lights won't work, but you can start it (or at least mine does, 1971 CT1).

You know. You dont need the key to get that bike started. You can bypass the switch .
