Hi Cathy, as a 74 year old I have owned an MOXF6 for a couple of years but found it difficult to use, since watching all your videos I have a renewed interest, they are easier to follow than the manuals. Hopefully I will get to grips with this instrument. Hope you will be posting some more in the future.

Hello Cathy. Thank you for your videos. I love them as I understand everything you teach me. I have both a MOXF6 and MOXF8, and I would be lost without your explanations. Please know that your videos are really helpful, and if you have any other tips please do some more if you have time. The EFFECTs section and MODULATION section are a complete mystery to me. Id love to hear some of your songs too. Thank you and bless you from the UK.

I love your videos. I've been so intimidated by the MOXF 8, but since finding you vids I have learned more in the past several weeks than I did in the proceeding 5 years. I do have some issues though. I can't seem to get my head around what's the best and easiest way to save and record...song vs pattern mode and under what circumstances? If I just wanna do a quickly basic rhythm track to safe a ham idea loop...song or oattern
@cathyt67733 жыл бұрын
As for whether to save and record in song or pattern mode, It depends. This is how I use the keyboard. If I have a gig and want to play along with drums and bass, I pre-record a tune using Pattern mode. Let's say the tune is Autumn Leaves. That song is 32 bars long (FYI, many jazz standards are 32 bars long). So in the main Pattern screen (hit Pattern then hit F1) dial up a 32 measure loop. (RH side of the screen). It will look like this: 001:01/32. Now I record the drum track and then on a different track record the bass line. (Watch kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKrYlJKed5ifgc0 for drum recording if you want to use pre-existing drum loops found on the keyboard.). I then store this or save it onto a flash drive. Now in live performance I dial up the Pattern number I saved it to and play on a separate track (piano probably) along with the bass and drums. I can repeat the pattern (song) as many times as I want, improvising or whatever over the drums and bass line. If your musical idea uses a shorter pattern, just dial up the number of measures you need and pre-record them. Then play along live on a different track. If you want to record your own drums, just go to Pattern - Mixing - Category Search - Drum/Percussion - select the drum set you want - then hit Enter. Now you go back to Mixing and make sure you are on the track that you just assigned the drums to. Hit record and play the drum beat you want. Then go back to mixing and choose a different track and a different instrument for that track. If you want to play a longer song which is more arranged, has a key change etc., then you will want to use Song Mode and pre-record the bass, strings, drums, etc. Save/Store it. Then you can play piano (or whatever) along on a different track. This song won't loop. Be sure to watch this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqOxZaSYhNZ5Y80 Maybe this helps a little???? You can email me at tibbittsmusic@gmail.com for more help. I am happy to help!

Hi Cathy,thanks for sharing your Knowledge.Do you know how I can set up for Logic Pro x ,midi Sync for control my Moxf 6 ? Thanks
@cathyt67732 жыл бұрын
You may have already figured this out . . . I have 2 cables out of my keyboard and into the front of an interface device. I use the Scarlett Focusrite Audio Interface. Then take a line out of the back of the interface device and into your computer. Open up Logic Pro X and it should discover the Scarlett Focusrite. That's all you need to do and you should be able to play and record in Logic Pro X. If you want to record midi tracks, using your keyboard as a midi keyboard, make sure that you have a midi cable coming out of the back of your keyboard on "out" and into the Focusrite on "in". PLEASE NOTE that I also have cables out of the back of my Focusrite into 2 powered speakers. ALSO, you may have to go into your Preferences on your computer and under audio, tell your computer to use the Scarlett Focusrite for audio input and output. Hope this helps.

Can you possibly do a video on “saving a song to the keyboard “? I also am trying to figure out how to add a mic and record my voice singing to a track. Lastly, how does one format a USB to begin saving to it. If I had your contact info, I’d literally pay you to coach me through some of my tech issues! You are very easy to understand!

Hi Cathy. I'm having trouble recording arpegiated voices. The voice categories in performance mode are different from the voice mode options. The only way to record the arpegiated voice that I want to use is to record to an external device in real time. This means the arpegiated voice data from my mox8 cant be recorded internally in a song or pattern. Do you have any recommendations for how to record the arpegiated voice from the voice mode internally into the song or pattern ?
@cathyt677323 күн бұрын
Try the following: Go to song mode and choose an available "song" number. Go to the track that you want to record on and then hit the "Rec" button, but don't start recording. While you are in the "Rec" window hit F2 (Voice). Now where it says "Voice" dial up the voice you want. Make sure your Arp on/off button is lighted (in the on position). You might have to also hit F3 to turn the Switch to "on". Now try recording and see if you are successful. I'm not sure what arpeggiations you are trying to record . . . It will now be recorded on a track in your song. For drums, please watch my two videos about how to record the on board drum loops (arpeggiations).

You discuss in your video about drums on track 3. I noticed somewhere that the drum assignment somehow goes to track 3 automatically, even if it’s your “4th” voice.

Cathy my arp will not play when i go to perform. The arp is on and i keep playing chords and it still won’t play the arp. Do you know what to do?
@cathyt67732 жыл бұрын
I am not sure what is going on. Try this: Go to a Performance. Then hit F5 ArpEd. Then hit F3(Main). Make sure Switch is "on." See if that does anything.
@kimdiez26816 күн бұрын
Question, how did you move the perfomance tks 1-4 to 13-16? Somehow copy? Thanks !
@cathyt67735 күн бұрын
If you are just moving data from certain measures on one track to other measures on the same track. . . you could do it this way: Go to your "song" (or pattern) and hit F1 (under the display window) to be sure to be in the main (or "play") screen. Then hit "Job" (to the lower right of the data wheel on my keyboard). Then hit F3 ("Event"). Then select "Copy Event". Select the track and the measure numbers you want to copy (so you can move them). Then dial up the measures you want the track data to shift to. Then hit Enter. You will have to manually go back and erase the data from the original measures - - if you need to get rid of it. (You can record in "replace" mode to do this.) If you want to copy and paste (which is kind of what you are doing) ALL of the tracks, then, follow the steps above but when you select the track number, using your data wheel, spin it around until it says "all". Then it will shift the data from all of the tracks (from the measures you selected) to the new location. Of course, you will still have to go back and erase the measures where you "don't" want the material - - track by track. This is kind of a ghetto way to do it, but it works! I don't know any other way to do it

Hi Cathy! I don’t know what I would do without your videos!!! Thank you!!! I am in a situation needing multiple pre-programmed sounds for different songs for a live performance on 4/11/21. I am feverishly watching every tutorial I can find and YOURS ARE THE BEST!!! (I have owned this KB for 2 years, but used piano, rhodes, organ only.) If I understand correctly, I can save all of my layered and split patches - combinations of voices (single sounds) and performances (layered & split sounds) into MASTER MODE, so that I can line them up in the setlist (12 songs) on the numbered banks to the right. (A 1-16) Is this correct??? Also, should I save this to a flash drive? How? Again - thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!🎹💕🙋🏼♀️🙏🏻
@cathyt67733 жыл бұрын
It sounds like you understand what you need to do. Have you already done it and is everything working for you? As for saving what you are doing on the flash drive, I wouldn't do that. I personally only save songs or patterns that I have recorded on the flash drive. In other words, if you are going to hit play and play along with something you have pre-recorded, the recording might be something you saved on the flash drive, but if you are just saving the voices you will be using to the numbered buttons on the right of the keyboard (using MasterMode), the keyboard should store all of those internally and they should not change unless you store/save something over them on purpose.
@sherigarlockpianostudio46823 жыл бұрын
@@cathyt6773 Thank you for your reply! I have only gotten so far as to create a couple of layered sounds. And single voices seem to be stored in User 1 and layered sounds under Performance. I need them all in one spot and in a specific order. I watched the Master Mode video which seems to be the answer to my live performance need, but I just wanted to check with you first. I hope I can do this! First rehearsal is tomorrow.

Also - on your Starter Video - I think I saw Master as a default mode when I turn it on??? I think I’ll try that?
@cathyt67733 жыл бұрын
@@sherigarlockpianostudio4682 It should be fine. I think you will be fine. I sometimes put post-it notes on the keyboard and write the voices next to the numbered keys to help me remember which number is what voice. Also, in your music (if you are using music) use little colored post-its marking every time you are going to change to a new voice with the number written big. . . and at the top of each song, maybe make a note of which voices you will be using to help you keep your head straight going into the song. Have a great rehearsal.

Question- if you record tracks fir a song in one key but then the singer wants a different key , how do you change all recorded tracks to new key?
@cathyt67734 жыл бұрын
While in that particular song's main screen hit "job" (button is down near "ENTER") then hit F2 "Transpose." Then hit "Enter." You will see TR01. That indicates that you are on track one. Using the data wheel, change that TR01 to TRALL. Now all of your tracks will transpose together when you indicate how far up or down you want to transpose the song. IMPORTANT INFO: 1.). If you have drums on your song, you DO NOT want to transpose those tracks with percussion. They will get all weird. The snare will become a bass drum, cymbal will become a bongo, or whatever. If you have drums, you will want to transpose each of the other tracks one at a time. It is more cumbersome, but . . . ALSO please note that on the screen display, after the TRALL you will see measure numbers. Be sure to dial up the measures that you want transposed. So, if your song is 34 measures long, you will want to dial up 1:00 - 34:00. ONE MORE THING. If you were planning to play along live with the recorded song, you will have to use the "Transpose" + - button (just to the left of the "Rec" button on the left side of keyboard) to transpose the keyboard up or down to match the key of the song. This should not affect your recorded song. Let me know how you do!

Thank you this helps a lot. I've had this keyboard a while now and although it sounds amazing I never quite got to grips with it. I find the user interface unbearably complicated. It does sound incredibly good though and I love some of the piano sounds. I adore the beautiful Squashed Piano sound and tend to use that one a lot and stick to very basic sequencing on the keyboard itself. I'd say the MOXF sounds just as good as my Fantom X8 but I use the Roland much more because I can sail through the menus and program it more easily. I have to say your tutorials have helped me immensely with getting my head around the menu system, thank you so much :)
