It makes a difference what aux plug you use these days with USB Quick Charger 3.0 available. The grey AUX ports that are on both sides are only 2A. With the newer USB 3.0A Quick chargers, you're going to want to utilize the Clutch side white Aux connector, which is the grip warmers. If you are actually using grip warmers, then you will want to utilize the grey AUX plugs and increase the 2A fuse to match the inline fuse of the device you are installing, otherwise, it won't quick charge. In my case, it was a dual port with a 10A fuse. Don't forget to replace 2A spare with correct size, too.

@itsadyerthing4 жыл бұрын
If you use something like a optimate or tecmate trickle charge you should in that package also have a direct to battery connector. Normally we connect one to our poles and route it down along side of the frame under the rear cover. For the most part myself I simply prefer to remove the batteries and keep them stored in my pantry where the temps are consistent and every time I grab a can o beans I see the batteries and can remember all the fun bikes times I had lol. Juts easier for me to grab them and through them on a charge as some people may not have access to a plug where they park their bikes etc... love community living... Deborah Stephane Mahaux I’ve seen some on eBay and Amazon. You can also google search there is a company that sells them but are pricy ! Best and maybe easiest bet is to go to your Yamaha dealership and ask them to find the aux connector from a grizzly 700 which will be in the electric section on the parts fiche. It looks like a little y connector.. comes with what you need and allow you to cut and make your own.. If you or your dealer can’t find it let me know and I’ll send you a part number when I’m back at work.. Cheers Rob

Yes. What you will do is take a test light and check with outlet is connected to the GW fuse which is in a little white/frosted holder with letters GW. That is found on the right side behind the scoop. Once you test connections and then pull the fuse you will know that this is the connection you use for your heated grip.... if I recall properly I think it was the black one. @@itsadyerthing I hate to bother you, but I have another question on this. I connected my Garmin Zumo GPS cradle on the left side (not to the grip warmer connection though) and I keep getting a low battery message on the GPS. Could it be that connection doesn't provide the proper power for the GPS? The GPS battery holds a charge just fine so it appears that isn't the issue.

Does the 2020 mt07 have the same plug? I have found the white auxiliary plug but I do not see the gray plug that you end up using. Please help. I have purchased koso Apollo heated grips and do not want to tap into my battery
@itsadyerthing3 жыл бұрын
There's only the one DC aux plug for MT07/Fz07. Its found on left side closely behind the rectifier. This one is fused so you do have some safety behind it but will your heated grips cause fuse to blow, possible as its only rated to 2.0 amp. I think the safest thing for you would be to do a direct to battery connection and if the grips do not have a safety cut off feature then you make your own on/off switch. The Yamaha heated grips and Oxford heated grips are great cause they do offer such feature. Hope this helps Cheers and have a great 2021 ride season. Rob

Wow dude. I didn’t expect such a quick response. I appreciate what you do for us new to the sport and new to working on our own bikes. Thank you. I do have a follow up question. You installed genuine Yamaha heated grips in another video and used a wire harness sold separately. If I purchase the Yamaha grips and the wire harness can I install it into the dc auxiliary plug? Or no matter what with my bike I need to install it to the battery? Thanks again for all the videos and info.
@itsadyerthing3 жыл бұрын
@@nobopaulbeitpoulice675 un fortunately your MT07 was equipped with one AUX outlet and that would be rated for a DC or USB style output for charging your phones or GPS etc... any more demand to that then you'll run into fuse troubles.. so yes you'll be somewhat obligated to do a direct to battery connection for your heated grips. Now again they have a safety feature where they will turn off if they don't see any charge into your battery and will not turn on if your battery power is to low so you know you'll always have enough power to at least start your bike, so even if your at a patio grill bar with your buddies and some young punk is at your bike and keep pressing the power on the heated grips, they will not draw more than what is needed to get your bike running! That's a good thing.. I've had the Yamaha heated grips for a few bikes and they are ok, nice this is the convenience of the power switch integrated into the grip itself. But they don't get hot ! You'll feel then slightly through a pair if leather gloves so yeah they'll break the chill but not like your heated steering wheel etc... this past year I was using Oxford heated grips. Now those are nice... they offer multiple style grip surfaces and easily warm up those sausage fingers!!! Plus they also have the same safety feature ans function! Only downside is they have a separate control box that you need to find a location which is easily installed into your mirror mount for easy thumb reach... here you can see the features and functions from my more recent video. So true !! Yamaha usa doesn't offer this both in USB nor as a DC ! That's sucks ! Ok well you can find a plug of your choose and the connector to splice onto your aux plug can be BS2-F62B0-V0-00 Again you'll only take the harness connector from this and connect it to your power plugin and connect to the unit harness so you have it fused and connected through your ignition switch too. @itsadyerthing4 жыл бұрын
Nice lights... looks only to be led and 2 wire, doesn't look like it needs a power source so you would simply plug it in place of your existing flasher source. I don't expect the led would cause any draw to your existing system to cause any issues. In sure you could simply piggy back it to your current setup and be fine. But you wanna go without bar end weights ???? Hmmm may feel more bar buz... but yeah. I don't see why you can jump it into the same wire connection as your existing flashers. Test before you start splicing your wires. You should be able to manually sneak your wire in through the back of the connector to see if you create hyper flash or no flash...etx.... looks good though.

both would connect through a splitter from your main harness and connect to the one connector and it would take it without any trouble since Yamaha also offers aux light for this bike, there are a total of 3 aux connections, but you only need the 1 for both lights and they will work off the ignition switch so you can also make sure to not drain power accidently. Will Moersen and make sure that the connector used it the grey one that you seen taped onto the harness on the left side of the bike. I’m just reviewing the instructions now to make sure there is no mention to increase fuse amperage.. Grey connection is for your GW. White one is for your aux power source and right side grey one is for six lights.

@@itsadyerthing hey! Just to clarify: white (loosely dangling connector) is for 12v power source (like phone charging) and the Grey (taped) one is for heated grips, right? Can I just connect non-yamaha heated grips with same power consumption to the connector? Or do I also have to upgrade a fuse? Appreciate your work! Thanks a lot!

Hi Rob, Does the bikes in Canada does not come default with a quick shifter?
@itsadyerthing6 жыл бұрын
Good day to you GA Aero, That is correct! The MT09 and FZ09 from 2017 + do not come factory equipped or factory installed Quickshift. This is a optional feature from Yamaha for North America. Why did they go this route, I'm not too sure. possibly to help keep the MSRP down or to allow it to be customers choice. There however may be dealers who are selling the bike simply order up the shift kit and install it prior to rolling it out onto the showroom ! But Yeah its a optional part here in both Canada and USA. Part number is BS2-E81A0-V0-00 and this only works for 2017 to 2019 MT09.Hope this answers your question mate and thanks for reaching out !CheersRob

@@itsadyerthing Ahhhh okay okay, In Singapore both the MT-09 & MT-09 SP both come equipped default with Quickshift. Thanks for the info
@itsadyerthing6 жыл бұрын
USA and Canada don't even have the privilege of the MT09 SP ! we only have standard MT no SP !!! Cheers and thanks for reaching out all the way from Singapore ! Peace...Rob

So I guess the 2015 version doesn't have the correct connection?..
@itsadyerthing9 ай бұрын
That is correct. This only takes place for 2017 and newer. Cheers Rob

will this work for a 2015 model?
@itsadyerthing5 жыл бұрын
Eric C unfortunately this is only 2017 to 2019 models. I can not be for sure that there is a aux power port on older FZ... well not as many as what you see on newer ones.. It is easy enough to remove the side plates to see, but I don’t think you will have all 3.. Cheers Rob

@itsadyerthing5 жыл бұрын
Gio Robie Jacildo I would suggest you look and see if you have a fuse blown. This is first thing to check. Nothing I can do to help you as I have not experienced with trycity bike, we do see this bike in North America. I suggest you contact your dealership and look at owners manual.. But I am sure all you have done is blow the fuse.. check fuse box and replace.. I think you have your DC connection wrong please be careful.. Hope you find the problem. Hope you fix. Good luck Gio. Does the 2014 fz8 fazer have such a power port?
@itsadyerthing Жыл бұрын
Good question. Best thing to do is download the owners manual. You'll find the info there for sure. You'll search for aux power and also refer to the fuse reference.. you can download the owners manual from Yamaha Motor website of your location. Cheers Rob

Does the xsr900 have these same ports?
@itsadyerthing2 жыл бұрын
I would like to think so because they offer the same accessories. Only way to confirm is to read the owners manual which can be downloaded from Yamaha websites.
