19:16 is sound clips for those who cant wait,
1rst sound is stock slip on exhaust,
2nd sound is no slipon exhaust
3d sound is modified slipon exhaust
Here is a tutorial I put together for those who would like to get a better sound out of their stock exhaust and for those who don't want to bust the piggy bank ! you can either use your stock exhaust or get lucky like I did and find one out in the used market listing,
Again Thank you Alex for your help on this !
This is a walk through on how I modified my Stock MT10 exhaust from factory length to shortened stubby power house !
this works for both MT10 and YZFR1 newer models.
Sound clips at end will be for Stubby, Stock length and no pipe at all.
Once weather is decent we will head outside for a moving sound clip compilation.
Cheers
Rob
Enjoy.

Just completed this mod on my MT10, was skeptical that it would actually change the sound, was doing it just to get rid of the massive can. But I can tell it makes bike sound 10 times better. Thanks for the vid, gave me the confidence to cut up my can.

Hey everyone, I want to share my modification: Just took the R1 Slip-On and mounted it onto the MT-10 - It's louder quite a bit and more bass-heavy :)

Both are a straight bolt one. Interesting you say it's louder. Louder is not a bad thing 😁😁😁😁😆

@@itsadyerthing You are right - both are straight bolt. However, the MT10's Slip-On (at least for the EU Model) is a different one. It has a narrower passage on the bottom as well as a different "E-Number"

bladecentered hey Bladecentered ! It’s its just a pleasure to ride ! Oh boy to I get the good feeling every time I twist that throttle !!! I wanted to get the Arrow MT10 slip one which looks ever so sweet and fits perfect as it also comes with a nice heatshield that covers up the pipe ! Do take a look and it’s all black too ! Super sexy but no Canadian distributors for it ! Akrapovic also a nice one but then we are getting high price !! You’ll soon learn that MT10 has premium price on everything !!! Haha Take the pipe apart and get it ceramic coated like they do to firearms !!! That would be BADA$$ !! Keep us posted on your new toy and thanks for the feedback This was to be a winter project but that was short lived Hahha ! Well time to do something else I guess ! Long winters and lots of imagination ! Cheers and thanks for the support !!!! Rob

Nice work. In Germany we must have the e Mark on the exhaust. If you cut the exhaust the e mark get lost.
@itsadyerthing
@itsadyerthing 4 жыл бұрын
Jens Kampmann wow that’s like mega severe!!! Yeah my e Mark is gone Hahha Many years ago in province of Quebec we had police walk around with coat hangers and would stick it into exhaust and if they could put most in then they said was not legal hahaha so bad and so many problems happened with that method. Thank god they don’t do this anymore. Many and most people here in Canada especially Ontario ride with very loud pipes.. I went for a ride last night and I was very pleased to hear the bike is not loud for people around ! The sound is great for the operator so you get the feeling of quality sound without the noise.. I swapped bikes with my son so I could hear what it’s like and there is so very minimal change so all is good.. very pleased with design and sound.. if looking at the pipe inside, stock one has half perforated tube and other half not. Not I cut off half so only perforated is left so it has plenty of damping but looks great... Cheers and thanks for reaching out. Love the support and have a great riding weekend Jens... Rob 👍

Nice rob. Never asked you why you chose the mt series out of all the beautiful Yamaha bikes. Have you had other sport bikes in the past. Cheers
@itsadyerthing
@itsadyerthing 4 жыл бұрын
Ian Curtis I started our with MT series in 2016 and stayed with it. Prior to that I was jumping between Star bikes and YZF’s lol.. yeah what a dramatic difference eh.. So really to say is MT for me is like both ! The upright yet power and sport feel.. I was leaning towards the Tenere but well price steered me away.. I think between the three bikes I have I cover all style. WR, R3 and MT.. I have found over past few years the line up looks to be going on a diet. Is there someone to come as big change ? I don’t know.. but one can only diet so long before serious trouble happens no ?? Cheers Rob

Hi. If you can have the choice of making it an inch longer or an inch shorter, what would you choose? I guess you have to answer me after testing it on the road.
@itsadyerthing
@itsadyerthing 4 жыл бұрын
Elie Nehme I wouldn’t want to go any shorter cause then it would look weird.. no one wants a itty bitty stubby lol.. Road test will be next as soon as I can for sure! Cheers Rob

Nice 🎦 mate. Just how much did u cut off exactly? Just bought one to do the same as I too am sick of paying over much for a new end can, which generally don’t make that much difference if any 👍
@itsadyerthing
@itsadyerthing 3 жыл бұрын
Sorry I can't give you length. But that shouldn't be hard for you to find our. Take a ruler and measure inside. I simply cut off all the none perforated tube. So the solid tube is what i removed from mine. Does it make a difference yes it does help. What's a couple of hours messing around vs having to spend 700+++ on a slip-on that'll do same thing. I had used a mt10 with a Yoshimura slip on and could hear any difference than stock so doing the stock mod in my mind makes a difference! Cheers Rob

I’ll be in the garage next week if not before. Bought a genuine cat too, so thinking of gutting it and trying that with the exup valve either fixed open or removed, then put in an MWR air filter and finishing off with an woolich ecu flash, happy days.
@itsadyerthing
@itsadyerthing 3 жыл бұрын
@@itwasntme7721 I've seen people cut and gut the cat right by the welded seam and reweld for a super clean look! Do note that the exup is a working tool especially for the MT10, its where she will provide you with that bottom. End torque... I had did a test and removed it when I did a decat and hated every min of it. The exup had to go back on cause it made a world of difference..... but what you're doing is awesome,, old skool fabrication and and respect you for that.. not always about buying fancy bolt on stuff. Get out and get those hands dirty. You'll be proud of yourself for doing so and makes your bike that much more unique..... Cheers Rob

Hey Rob, will this also work on my Tracer? This looks complicated, hence I was thinking about the Yoshi from Yamaha parts, pretty expensive. By the way at the courtesy of Yamaha finance I am getting the opportunity to test Nikken for an hour. Whats a good riding roads near Gordon Baker? Thanks!
@itsadyerthing
@itsadyerthing 4 жыл бұрын
Zakaria Salim Hey thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately your bike does not have a removable slip on exhaust. Therefore yes the only option would be to go with Yoshimura. Best routes around here for you to try out the Niken would be down behind the Toronto zoo and in that area other than that you’re pretty much on flat and straight roads. Thanks for reaching out take care keep in touch cheers Rob.

The second question. Did you feel that the back end pressure was significantly altered to the point that is affecting the combustion?
@itsadyerthing
@itsadyerthing 4 жыл бұрын
Elie Nehme the nice thing about doing this is that you keep you existing catalytic converters and your factory exup as we are simply playing with the slipon so you should not be altering any back pressure or low end torque. That was my mistake last week when I did a decat. This was a huge change and didn’t stay that way. I simply wanted a little more sound over stock. Doing this mod totally gave it to me.. You can obtain the same outcome with a Yamaha R&D Yoshimura slipon that Yamaha offers or a Akrapovic offered through aftermarket and lastly an Arrow slipon that is hard to find. I simply converted my baffling muffler into a nice sounding performance enhancing go faster exhaust lol... Cheers Rob
