Hey guys, this is the last video of my track day at BW on August 2nd. I was trying to catch my friend, who is a better rider than I, but I am on a 1000 and he is on a 600...and yes, I forgot to shift a few time...leave me alone, LOL. This vid is of my last session. Not the last session of the day, but the last session for me. It was hot and I don't like to push it because my body gets fatigued due to my past health issues, and sure enough my body told me to stop mid lap...haha.
My Stuff:
2016 Yamaha R1, FlashTune ECU (Bikeside Harness), Graves Performance Carbon Fiber SlipOns w/MJS mid-pipe and some other cool stuff. Most HP Gain came from Red R1 Brake Res. Cover
LS2 Helmet
GoPro Helmet Cam with that stupid block mic
Insta360 One R rear Cam
Alpinestar Perforated Jacket (red and white)
Sidi Boots(white leather), with those strapy things
Alpinestar Gloves, with those strapy things
Davinci Resolve 16 Editing software
Badass Gaming PC (Windows 10)
and of course Dees
BF4 Gamer tag I_am_la11 (oh and BF1 sucks)
"WALL" clan cuz this World is made of WALLS and those WALLS need to be defended by men with guns.
Oh, and don't forget to New Jack Swing on Dees

Great vid. My .02, other riders are just obstacles in your path and if your pace slows because of those other riders then that is impending your improvement. As riders, trackdayers, club racers, our memises is our own ability, follow faster people and you'll see it is our mind that prevents us from the rhythm we desire.

Great ride👍. I'm about to ride on a track soon. I'm a little bit nervous about it. It would be great if you could give us some insight what to do to prepare for a track day. Maybe a video about the rules, useful gear, riding habits, or your suspension setup and how to tune it? Even details about tire pressure could be useful I think.

I will do a video, but If I don't get to it before you go on your first track day, here are some things to consider (this is all based on general guidelines in the US): Most people prep their bike. They take off mirrors (install mirror blocks) and the licence plate holder. You will need to unplug your tail light and I also unplug my headlights. Some tracks ask that you tape up all headlights and tail lights so check with your track rules (or track day organization). You will use your front brakes a ton, so make sure they have plenty of pad on them, but also check your rear pads. While you are at it, double check all your fluid levels and maybe change your oil prior to your big day (Shell Rotella is great and way cheaper...ask around). Some folks also install a Radiator cover because rubber and rocks can get thrown up there. Not a necessity, but good to get if you plan on doing several track days. Put together a track day tool box with duct tape (heavy duty tape), and Allen wrenches, and a socket set, some pliers, and screw drivers, and backup plastic fasteners for your bikes plastics. Also bring 5 gals of whatever fuel you use. You will need to add fuel at some point during the day. Bring a pop up for shade and some chairs for comfort between each session, and a cooler with water or whatever you like to stay hydrated. Its a good idea to also bring snacks and a towel to dump in your cooler to wipe the sweat off you face during the breaks. Grab a cheap bicycle pump and a good air gauge that you trust and only use that gauge. Even if it is off, it will be consistently off for you, so only use that gauge. The tire guys at the track will probably have tire pressures posted for your tires and you will be looking for cold tire pressures (unless you have tire warmers and fancy dancy tires). After each session you are looking for a rise in pressures of 3-5 psi. Your tires have an optimal operating temp. and that is why tire pressure are important. Too much pressure and your tires wont get hot enough, too little pressure and they will get too hot, from constantly flexing. Don't worry too much about this though. If you start with the recommended pressures you should be pretty good. The reason why people care a lot about this is because tires only have a certain amount of heat cycles and proper air pressures help tires to wear uniformly, which is what you want so your tire will last as long as it should. Just make sure you are not starting out on tires that are not down to the wear bars. Also, don't be afraid to start in the lowest group, so you can learn the track. On my first time out to BW I went out in C group, even though I was slotted in B group, because I wanted to learn the track in the safest manner. Don't let your Ego allow you to go too fast. It is okay to work up your pace slowly. The last thing you want is to dump your bike and ruin your first track day. Never EVER let your EGO compromise your SAFETY and your ability to enjoy your day. Speaking of safety, you are gonna want a nice, well built, properly fitting set of leathers. They can be a one piece or a two piece, but you are gonna need leathers. It is a requirement. You will also need protective riding boots and protective gloves and a full face helmet. A lot of guys have back protectors, but it is not required. Back to the actual riding part and Ego part. On my first track day, I drove off the track two times. I was very lucky. I had watched a bunch of videos of the track I was going to and watched other peoples paces, but in reality their pace was too fast for me. Things will happen a lot faster then you think, so ride cautiously until you start to get comfortable. I also decided, after the first two sessions, to stop trying to switch gears. Once I decided just to stay in third gear, the day became so much more enjoyable because I stopped having to worry about what gear I was in and just concentrated on braking and accelerating and trying to find safe lines. And lastly for now. About your lines into and out of turns, do not worry about the others riders behind you. It is their job to ride safe and pass you in a safe manner, so don't be looking around for riders behind you. You also need to make sure you are passing safely. Do not be an ass hat and pass someone unsafely. There are rules in each group as to when you can pass...again don't let your Ego take over. You will see some dick moves, so don't be a dick. Remember, we are all trying to have fun and we are all at different skill levels, so be respectable to all....La

@@IamLaR1 holy! Thanks man that is a ton of information. I was told not to switch gears in the beginning. But I completely forgot about the brake pads! You you have to do a series about that. It would be interesting af and would encourage more people to race on tracks and not on streets. Thank you!
