The cbrs are built like a Russian fighter jet, not very fancy or beautiful but are built to last and is bare to the bone with no crazy technology built into it . That’s why I love them , put over 60k on my 2007 cbr 600rr and she has never let me down ONCE.If you’re a weekend warrior that rides on sundays please get the r6 she is was designed for short haul races and does a damn good job at it , but if you want a bike that will last monday - Sunday then get the cbr she was made to be ridden on long haul trips and be abused. Both are amazing bikes at the end of the day .

I owned a R6 back in 2010/2011 and I loved it. it's like a stunning missile! However the riding position is a bit tiring for the arms and fists. In my case, after 40 minutes riding the R6, it was uncomfortable already. Probably because the weight of the upper body is all transferred to the fists, you kind of lie down on top of its tank to ride it. I had the opportunity to do a test ride on both, CBR1000RR and on a CBR600RR and surprisingly the 600cc is so much more comfortable to ride. I was a surprise for me. It seemed easier to deal with and it gave me the feeling that I could ride it all day long. The R6 is gorgeous, track focused and faster but the CBR is more comfortable. I've seem people riding from UK to EU and passing through quite a few countries riding CBRs. I doubt it would be fun on a R6. Anyways, that's only my particular opinion based on my own experience. Both bikes are amazing.

I’ll help people trying to decide. Get the bike you think looks the best and that fits you. All these specs don’t really matter when you’re out riding in the streets. You’ll never reach its full potential and if you do that in the street then I hope you’re fast enough to get away from the cops. Remember these are track weapons with lights and turn signals. How we are able to use them in the streets is beyond me. I’m glad we have the freedom though. CBR better street bike, more torque and lighter. R6 is just top dog. Great top end and will not lose down the stretch. It’s a tough seating position though, you can decide for yourself. Hell, with the right rider it doesn’t matter what bike it is. I opted for a 2017 Daytona 675R. Mixture of everything. Light, fast, torque is insane. Stay safe guys. 🇵🇭🇯🇵🇬🇧

@sergiooliveira11275 жыл бұрын
They changed it... A 2008 and 2015 don't even have the same power and weight. The changes on the 2007 to the 2008 are noticeable, but not enough to make me "skip that gen"... With a ECU flash and a slip on and filter, the 2007 will feel just as great as the 2008 and it will be just faster than the 2008... And for the price difference the 2007 was the choice for me... tested both, 2008 was basically the same... The 2008 version also had some weird problems with the crank (just like early 2006's) that makes me wonder if it's really worth the extra money you pay over the 2007... This is my first 600cc bike and honestly, I'm pretty happy with it... The other thing that I don't like in 2008+ models is the tail... It doesn't look right... But we'll, that's just my opinion.... Right now, I'm thinking about upgrading to a 1000cc but I hear the R1 have some serious gearbox problems, so I might consider keep my good old R6 for a couple more time :)

The best bike is the kind that runs! It’s never a bad time on 2 wheels 😎 Also...those 2 bikes are not beginner bikes. They’re both engineered to have capabilities far beyond those of any rider. You called it in that they’re track bikes. Like snow ski racing, liter bikes are designed for that “Super G” type of racing (Isle of Man), whereas the 600’s shine the brightest in the high power band, 2nd & 3rd gear precision class of racing, “Slalom” and “GS.” ALL of these bikes are super fast and capable, always about a good time but the second you think you’re more capable than the bike it’s going to find a way to prove you wrong. New riders can have a blast on 600’s (and get real damn good too), just important they know what they’re getting in to.

Wind-up Music boxes actually, vtec gives you more power down low, and up top. How it works is under a certain rpm the cam lobes open differently, giving you more low end torque, then up high, they switch profiles for high end power. That's why the R6 has no low end. Vtec is the reason every company copies Honda. It's MORE POWER, all the time.
@jordanjoestar88396 жыл бұрын
Wind-up Music boxes wrong. It creates a better burn for low Rpm torque, with both mention. I also own one, and two other Hondas. Along side my Audi. Vtec has a useful feature of being two separate cam profiles. No downsides.

I had a 2005/6 zx6r that could power wheelie with ease (did gear it down a little on the rear). Gonna ditch the down pipes/cat on my R6 for race pipe so will give it a little more go. Must say though the R6 is one of the best track day bikes around and for a 10 year old design it looks as good as 2017/18 R6. If you never ridden R1 then you must try it for the 'one wheel' factor. Jake Fejer hey dude, awesome setup. Does that conversion help with wheelies or top end?
@jakedragsknee6 жыл бұрын
Kal8Elk going bigger in the rear end is going to give you more bottom end so it will have more acceleration but have less top speed. That’s why you see stunt bikes with huge rear sprockets so they can get the front end up pretty easily.
@Kal8Elk6 жыл бұрын
Figured. Thnx for the explanation. I was planning on doing the same thing. Honestly I don't really care if the bike can go 300km or 270. I'd rather have low end torque for easier wheelies. I have my eye set on the R6 but I've read that the zx6r is a better bike in terms of technology (traction control, power modes, etc). So if you have any input on that matter, its much appreciated. both bikes are ok, but I would go with Honda because of reliability. Just an example, my friend with R6 at 26.000 km acc. to service manual had to change the Connecting Rod Bearing Crank Shaft and they were out of tolerance, on a bike that was never abused. I saw CBR with over 100.000 km still going strong, without engine work. just regular valve clearance check.

@bvcxzgt54515 жыл бұрын
I think this is an overlooked point. If you want a good starter bike, just get a much older bike. My first bike was a 600, but it was 45 hp. Not every 600 is too much for a beginner to handle. The R3s and smaller CBRs look great and all, but for a first bike, just get some cheap old thing. Carburetors suck, though, so it just isn't worth diving into last century much anymore.

Cbr 600rr Best on its class for handling.. Friendly ride position/could last on every hour without cramp on your hands or your back.. Linear but good torque at midend rev @8k - 10 rpm definitely a fast way to blast off at the start.. Fuel consumtion is good... R6 Racing feelings due to ride position, but sometimes you'll get tired for long ride specially on your hands and back.. Linear torque but pack lots of power on the highend @10k - 14k rpm.. Defenitely good on topspeed.. So depends on your riding style.. Both bikes is good for speed but just have different characteristics on how to speed up.. Fuel consumtion is decend but still ok for your daily track..

Telling it straight and simple - the honda , for most people is a much better street ride than tbe R6 ; reasons - engine pulls lots better from 3 k onwards ; ride position lots better - the R6 is a rack by comparison - this leads to the suspension - put simply the R6 beats you up on the road - particularly from its rear suspension- no other polite way to put it ; bar / peg / seat ride position is torture in traffic and on longer street rides - simple . its certainly fun on a short blast, but its way short as an all round fun street racer /comfy & practical street use bike . for me the Honda s engine has a much smoother stronger pull , especially from 3 to 11 000 rpm ; summing up - its a much better for all round use , particularly for taller riders ; and - it wheelies HEAPS BETTER than an R6
@BrosFOURRSpeed3 жыл бұрын
Yeah the R6 can't wheelie to save its life. But honestly we find both bike comfortable enough in the suspension. I prefer the riding position on the R6, Mike likes the CBR better. So depends on your bodies proportions too. I have longer leges and they have more room on the R6 with the higher seat. My legs are too bent on the CBR. Top end power on the R6 makes its overall way faster then the CBR. But the CBR, you can get out of the hole quicker with more torque. Really depends on what bikes you feel is more comfortable

Awesome review. Both are powerful bikes. But is the Honda lighter? Which one feels lighter to ride and wet weight?
@Treizez346 жыл бұрын
i own a 2013 cbr and have ridden a '12 R6; they are both about the same weight, but different seating positions. R6 you sit more on top of the bike where as the CBR has you more IN the bike. Both handle great, but on the track, I can see how the Yamaha's riding position can give you better handling at speed (not to say the CBR isn't amazing in the corners; it is!). Streetwise, the Honda is the better package because of the better torque down low; On the track...well, there's a reason why the yamaha has won so many super sport championships. Both are awesome machines in the end, though.

Honda has also won many MotoGP races with the CBR. F.Y.I
@Wilsonsgottalent6 жыл бұрын
Yes I’m aware of that and the street bikes are based off of the the race bikes. At least with the Honda. That’s why they gave it the rr at end. Stands for race replica. I’m not saying there identical but close enough.

ViciousGamer787 I’m sticking to my opinion and you have yours. I KNOW what your saying is false when it comes to the performance of MY O3’ CBR600RR.

Wilsonsgottalent street bikes are not even Close to gp bikes.. those are prototypes and we will never see that kind of tecnology on the street, or you have to wait at least 20 years, for example the new cbr1000 sp2 is "similar" to the honda rossi Was riding 15 20 years ago. But surely developing gp bikes helps with developing street bikes
