The seals were torn 2 places. Previous owner tried to fix it with some fluid sealing or something. Took me 2 hours to rinse and clean. But now it's fixed, and all is good and dry! Thanks for the video!

You stated that the petcock contains contains filter or screen. I did not see you clean those out. Are they removable, replaceable or did you just shoot plenty of carb cleaner in the pick up tubes? Nice video. Thanks

Man, I hope I can get away with this simple procedure... just ordered this kit. Be so much easier than cleaning the carbs. I just bought an '05 with 3,200 miles on it... Hoping it's just dry rubber seal here and not in the carb like in your other vid... but, either way, I now have real confidence that I can fix the issue bcuz of Cool Guys like You. ;) Thanks Again!!

Thanks mate, very clear video. When I tried to remove the fuel line, the brass nozzle came out of the housing (stuck in the fuel hose). How do I securely fix the nozzle back in the housing please?

I could think of a few ways, I imagine they are all bad ideas, that shouldn't fail and may necessitate replacement.

When I bought my 1100 someone had installed the little label plate upside down. I didn’t realize this and thought I was in “on” when really I was in reserve. Yup, ran completely out of gas.

I left my petcock on overnight. I rode it the next day with no problems. Will leaving the petcock on cause problems?
@retrotechandelectronics4 жыл бұрын
Shouldn’t cause an issue as long as the float seals and needle dont leak, if they do though, the whole tank could drain over time into the engine.

Hi bud, can I ask your advice regarding my xvs1100 V Star. Its suddenly running very rough and won't pull any revs. I suspect a blocked carburettor jet or jets, especially as my tank has recently been off the bike. I washed and dried out the tank before installing it, rebuilt the fuel cock and changed the in-line filter. It was running fine but now..its not. How do I access the slow running- low speed jets? Is it necessary to remove fhe tank? Do I have to remove air filter or carburettor(s)? Will be grateful for your advice

My bike only stays on if its on the reserve position, do you have an idea why that might be? Damaged petcock or do you think it's just dirty?

obstruction perhaps, check with air in reverse.

@@retrotechandelectronics thank you, and yeah sure enough it was clogged up. I removed the petcock and the "on position" passageway was completely obstructed. Screens were cracked up and not good either gasket seen better days. Replacing all of it. Thank you for your help brother

@retrotechandelectronics4 жыл бұрын
Do you mean the one that was already drained for service. Sorry I couldn't accommodate you. Did you consider that the failure of this valve may have something to do with it not holding gas back in the off position, and that was the need for replacement, Genius.
