Not actually. People loved her interactions with Nakanaka, the chuunibyou character. Also, her yandere side really tones down after this--her introduction was the most maniacal scene. Not a lot of people hate Yamai since, like, past 100 chapters or something(which is not that far away, this anime adapt around 7 chapters per episode). You gotta check it for yourself if you don't believe it.

The thing with Tadano is his name, Tadana Hitohito literally means ''just some guy'', so yeah, he is just an average guy...but they are all surrounded by people who are nowhere near average or normal, so he ends up sticking out being the normal one in this school. Also, as shown in this ep, even his measures are average, to the point the teacher didn't even bother to actually measure him since the result would be average. He has a super power actually, imagine always being average, you would never be amazing at anything, but you would never suck at anything either...I want that power, I would never fail a class in college.

Yamai Ren (山井恋) Yamai, her family name is written with the characters for Mountain and Well (山井) but it also can be written with (病) which means illness. Her name is written with (恋) or "Love" but can also be read as Ren. That means she would be a straight up Yandere, since yandere means "lovingly sick" or something similar.

This episode really hit hard. I would go as far to say it's one of the best thus far. I hate Yamai, but man they really did a great job making her dislikable for the anime with her voice and the animation (when she turned the lights off). And that really put Tadano and Komi's friendship to the test and led to one of the most heartfelt moments between the two.
