I think you were the first reactors I've seen who realized the "flower" in Tadano's hair is a cowlick. All the character's names are puns in Japanese that explain their gimmick: Tadano Hitohito is an average guy (tada no hito = "just a person") Komi Shoko can't communicate (komyushou = "communication disorder")

One thing about this manga/anime is that they use a lot of puns; pretty much everyone’s names are puns. Tadano Hitohito is a pun for “Just an ordinary person person,” and Komi Shoko is a pun for “Communication disorder girl.” The name order is Surname, Given name. As for the flower on Tadano’s hair, it seems like it’s just a stylized cowlick, as you guys speculated.

Wih how people react and misunderstood Komi's facial expression (beauty or scary face), that 100 is quite difficult to achieve. That's why, Komi need Tadano (with his room-reading skill) and improve her communication skill. And, expect this is slice of life first to enjoy this series.

Nagatoro and Komi are nothing alike, and yet will give you the exact same feels (... eventually). Nagatoro has been confirmed for a second season to be in production, so that's a relief. And surprised to see Komi's second season coming in the summer, considering how beautiful the animation is on the show (I assumed it would take longer). It's actually pretty funny, since both main characters are also very well known for their eyes. Which again, are very different but both iconic.
