I rode the 2021 890 Duke R and the 2021 MT09 SP back to back. MT 09 feels like a performance minivan and the Duke feels like a proper sports car. MT is big, fat and heavy, stable on the highway and is a straight line bike. Duke is comfy enough to daily but is a waaaaay more fun bike to rip on. Pretty different bikes. MT sound is superior but not really comparable performance wise.
@MikaelAbehsera2 жыл бұрын

Let's not forget the MT is also less expensive, more comfortable, and way more reliable.
@joecampagnolo812 Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure if “way more reliable” is accurate. KTM’s of today do not have the reliability issues of the past and are approaching Japanese levels. When comparing the Mt09 sp there is an assumption that the owner would be concerned about performance. And in performance the MT is not comparable. It’s like putting fancy suspension on a Toyota Camry, at the end of the day a Camry is not a performance car. Wrong dimensions, geometry and is too heavy just like the MT. Still fun but not when compared to something designed to perform. Comfort was never the design intention, Duke is out of the box performer. Just ride the two back to back, it’s obvious.

The Stripple is not a good track bike. It's a performance roadster that isn't aerodynamic and makes it's power more similar to the MT09 albeit much smoother.
@Love4boost2 жыл бұрын
@@englishsteel-nz6im I don’t do sport bikes. I can’t deal with the ergonomics. The Street Triple is like the common ground where it’s close enough to aggressive, but spaced out enough for me to be comfortable pushing it to it’s limits. The fueling, brakes, suspension, and power band is why I’d choose it over my MT-09 for the track if I didn’t already own my bike. Also it’s really popular for the track so there’s a lot of kits to put aero on it. Basically it’s cheaper to turn into a track bike because it’s closer to a sport bike.
@englishsteel-nz6im2 жыл бұрын
@@Love4boost The ergo's on sport bikes are actually not uncomfortable if you're in shape and know body positioning and how to balance the weight, but if not they're ruthlessly uncomfortable. Not the best street bikes for sure, but the Stripple isn't a track bike I don't care if people track them--- people track anything, it's not a track bike like an actual race replica is. The Stripple is a fabulous canyon carver tho and general street bike, corners very well unlike the MT09. I have a SuperSport and a Sport naked--- the SuperSport on track is next level to any upright bike and that's primarily what I use it for, but taking it out for a canyon rip is also not painful like people make it out to be see above.

Honestly my Ninja 650 was perfect. (ER-6F). It was comfortable had that sporty look and since it’s practically the same as the ER-6N i’d argue it’s a naked bike that just got the fairing treatment. It’s sporty and confortable for a daily commute. And it’s incredibly great for touring as well wich is in my experience rare. There’s not just many bikes that let you tour that comfortably of that class. There just isn’t. But since the ER-6F has fairings i’ll give it to the ER-6N cause that is the true naked variant of it despite being literally the same exact bike with less fairings. It’s a highly underrated beast of a motorcycle that just works. I have never experienced a better all around type of bike wich simply makes it a brilliant choice no matter what category you’re looking at. As for the Yamaha MT series, that is easily amongst the worst bike i’ve ever ridden. I mean yes it performs better than the Honda CB series, but the quality and comfort is just non-existent. If you can’t ride confortably then enjoying the ride easily becomes a lot more difficult. It sucks, but it is the truth and it needed to be said. Either way i have now taken a step in a different direction and i’m now a happy owner of a GL 1800 GoldWing.

The problem with including the Ducatis and Triumph Speed Triples in the mix is that you are entering a completely different price bracket from the Japanese entrants....they had better be the best given the significant premium paid for them....of course this speaks well for the MT-09....I find that old guys like me value the linear aspects of bikes like the Z900 and F900R over the quirky hooligan aspects of the MT-09, however it is an awesome bike.

I know it's more of the upper weight class (being a 1000cc boi), but the old yamaha FZ1 is an awesome bike as a naked bike. I know the terminology on what defines an FZ1 goes everywhere (especially in North America lacking the N variant), but I live in Canada and I have an FZ1 converted into the euro style naked bike, and I love it. I don't have alot of expierence on other bikes (it's my second bike), but my father does and he's ridden MT09s, Mt07s, Z900s and much more, and he thoroughly enjoys the bike too. Awesome inline 4 sound, 998ccs with 150hp stock, and can make significantly more simply by tuning and ditching that factory exhaust (saves like 20 pounds aswell lol). The seating position is slightly more aggressive, but very comfortable and easy to ride on. The seat definitely needs to be changed from factory for long distance riding, and you can't keep the stock generator because they yknow blow up. Other than that, really reliable genesis 5 valve (gen 2 bikes, 06-14) and really fun bike and I've loved every minute riding it. I love my gen 2 and I doubt I'll ever sell the bike

I think I’m going with the cb650r. Selling my sfv650 and going for that screaming 4!

Not interested in Euro bikes, with the possible exception of Triumph. I would pick the Z900, SV650 or either of the MTs. Maybe a Street Triple.

You really lost your way on this list. Comparing 955s with 650s? How is a 955cc bike a "middleweight"? $7500 to 13000? On the same list? Putting the Trident at #14 made you just look silly. Watching your first ride of it completely contradicts everything you said here. I know you like the MT09, but damn is that thing ugly. Also, how are you ranking bikes you haven't even ridden? Hearsay? Rumor? Glad I based my buying decision off an actual reputable source.

Glad that in 2023 Triumph are making some great bikes now.

I loved my extremely nimble SV650 now I’m thinking the MT is the way to go. I am curious about the naked Indian scout with 111 hp liquid twin.what would you have scored it out of 1 of 10 if you don’t mind me asking?

Have you tried the latest street triple before making this video? The latest one has made a lot of changes such as the 130hp and increased torque.

Aches to see my Street Triple - that I love to bits - at #10, but I get the logic. For the sake of completeness, the list misses BMW F900R (IMO ranks between Suzuki GSXS 750 and Triumph Trident), Duke 790 (Somewhere between Street Triple and Streetfighter), MV Agusta Dragster 800 RR, MV Agusta Brutale. Guess 2023 will add GSX-8S and Honda Hornet 750. And you realize what a competitive field this is.

You have been unfair to the GSX-S750 and did admit you haven't ridden it yet . The motor is a beauty and the stock suspension although very basic handles the twisties with great control. Please ride it and I think you will see it doesn't deserve it's 13th place rating . Front brakes are strong and provide great feed-back also .

Got a XSR900 here. Tons of fun and great aesthetics. CB650R handles really odd to me and is way less sharp comparing to the XSR (might have something to do with oem tire tho). The Taiwan/China version CB650R is also tuned down a lot and has become very boring. I have to say this ranking is quiet accurate but the Cb650r really disappointed me a lot..
