ANOTHER TIP FOR FEMALE SERVERS!!!! When serving hetero couples, I make most eye contact and put more of my attention towards towards the girlfriend/wife!

That may be true because female waitresses that give me most attention. My lady has an "indirect" attitude but when they address my lady most of the time, then she says, Daddy tip her more.

I really like the sticker idea! I have a ton of different colored pens for my customers to choose from when they sign their receipts. I ask what their favorite color is and they always look a little confused but when I show them that I have a pen in that color for them to use they always get a big smile and are in a much better mood regardless of how my service was or how their day went.

I used to do this until one time I couldn't get a tip left for me because it wasn't in "blue or black ink" since the signed receipt is technically a "legal document." So just be careful.

Great tips! Especially on the friending cooks and hostesses. You definitely don't wanna piss off the people making your food and seating your tables. I think I'm one of the only servers that does tip out the hostesses on a busy weekend morning. If you're super busy with tables that also means they are super busy as well, and they will be more likely to help you bus your tables and get drinks for them if they know you actually appreciate it. The only thing I feel like you missed a point on is on the dessert offering. We serve a shit load of pie and cake at my work and one thing I've noticed is try and ask your tables about dessert before they are finished eating. They are more likely to save room for dessert when you put the idea in their head sooner. Otherwise if you wait until they are finished eating chances are they are already full and probably don't want dessert at that point. Usually when they are a little over half way through their meal I will say "don't forget to save room for pie today" and always remind them they can take it home with to enjoy later.

Variation on #6- let's say your job doesn't offer appetizers (like the restaurant I work at) let your guests know about your soup options (or salads) before they think about their entree. If you can add on a bowl or cup of soup or salad before they order it's just as effective plus if they order something that is a "dip check" or a pre-made entree you dont have to worry about anything coming out late.
@jakexcalibur15835 жыл бұрын
you can also suggest an entree as an appetizer. by that i mean, an entree that is not labor-intensive or an entree that can be split/shared by the table. if no appetizers are offered by the establishment, an entree-sized salad might be a good substitute. if appetizer-sized salads are on the menu, then take into consideration your price points, then you'll have a better idea of whether or not that particular suggestion would be worth while.

I've been serving for ten years and most of this I agree with depending on where you work I agree with all of it but if you're serving in some places lower price places diners like a quick breakfast place or a BBQ joint places where folks walk in knowing exactly what they want they can't stand being up selled it's irritating to then and you're seeing the same people everyday so in that senario instead of a long introduction and upselling suggesting so much just get to know them make a friend hey how's your day going what are you having today something like that get people to talk to you and get people to laugh if you can get a table to laugh you make them have fun they top you better in smaller cheaper places they will come back more so that's my only advice different I enjoyed your tips and they're all on point just a little different depending on where your serving

Wow your tips are great. Surprisingly for me I’ve learned this more in Customer Service rather than working at a restaurant! Thank you so much for this video I can see how confident you are and it makes me feel confident too!

I’m 14 and the only job hiring was a Mexican restaurant so I applied and they have three of us waitressing and it’s honestly stressful. We share tips which can be good or bad. It’s so hard to remember everything and I’m coming to KZbin to help. 😌

The whole befriending the host thing is so freaking true! I’ve been a hostess for over a year now and I’m just moving into also severing at a different restaurant and I know from my own experience that if I like a server they sure as hell have a better chance at getting the table they want than the server that yells at me for making a small mistake

Thank you for these tips! I talked to my manager earlier asking what I was doing wrong and he didn’t reassure me too much but this video helped. I’ll try to implement this tomorrow and see how it goes!

Thanks so much! A lot of these I knew of, I've been serving for over 10 years. Still very helpful. I decided to get a refresher course on KZbin today since I forgot to put in half of an order earlier. There was only 2 of us in a smallish restaurant, but we usually have 2,3,4 girls. Super short handed at work today. I Got ZERO tip on an almost $40 bill, even though I apologized genuinely, and his food came out super quickly. They were just old farts..but that sticker tip!! GORL!! I am def going to buy myself a little book of stickers. Fantastic idea!!

Some people are the worst! If you don’t have money to tip you don’t have money to eat out at the restaurant. It’s just rude. But yes girl happy kiddos=happy parents
@monical7335 жыл бұрын
Oh that's not bad at all! I get no tips after $100+ bill and sometimes parties too. The first time that happened, I cried. I didn't know how to handle that. But now I'm used to it so I dont get hurt.

Thank you. These are good tips and tricks for upping your tips and they aren't necessarily the kind of things that come up in training a new server. But since I'm trying to be a good manager I'm going to include them in our server training from now on so they can make better tips. I will give you credit, of course, and hopefully you'll gain some new followers. The guests are happier which makes me happier. Everybody wins!

I'm definitely going to do these tonight. Unfortunately I work at iHop the overnight shift so it's not crazy busy already and people are horrible tippers in my area. But I know it's also me being new and my first week ever serving. Hopefully these work and I make a bit more!

The be nice to the BOH(there are no hosts in a dine-in theater) bit, really saves my ass so many times on busy days, because my stuff is usually the first to be made, so I can send it out and have peace of mind so I'm not scrambling around when customers are missing something.
