Yup, he's so good. This and 16 Tons are both top of my list. Thank you for another enjoyable reaction

Great reaction, thanks. If you want to see Geoff having fun, check the next one, Way Down. Maximum silliness and humor. I mean, think about it. Geoff covering Elvis Presley? Yep. And he not only sounds good, but he is as entertaining as ever.

Geoff has cheered up considerably since he filmed this. His latest cover of Elvis‘s Way Down is fun and funny. Be sure to watch all the way to the outro at the end - there’s kind of a little extra joke in there. Pay attention to the name tags on the clones, they are the various ways that people have spelled or pronounced Geoff’s name.

He's really done a good job updating this song while keeping the essence of the original. He differentiates his solo work from that of VoicePlay by using instrumentation in his solo stuff. He doesn't want to compete in the same space as his group. The instrumentation is often light and drops out at times to accentuate a harmony, but all his solo production has some instrumentation. Enjoyed your reaction as always!

The video was done in an historic home in Orlando that is usually used as a wedding and event venue. In this piece, I found out that Geoff can act, this is just heartbreaking in addition to being brilliant! His closed captions are very descriptive - "Geoff humming", Geoff harmonizing", and sometimes comical. And, as you did this time, always watch until the Patron list runs, he throws stuff in at the last minute. This will be more obvious in his most recent version of Elvis' Way Down. Great reaction, it's great to see your appreciation for his talent!

I adore this! Loved the original but Geoff has taken it to another level. Full of soulful emotion, those low chest notes are amazing but I really enjoyed his very pretty higher range in this one! Great reaction, I enjoyed it thank you! 🙂👍

I heard Bill Withers do this about 50 yrs ago when he was opening for Blood Sweat and Tears. It was great and I love Geoff's version. Check out 2 of his newest - Unshaken (last month), and Don''t Mess Around with Jim (today)

A lot of bass singers do that scoop up when starting a line. It's sort of a glottal fry but isn't exactly fried. It's from the larynx moving lower, which slightly closes the epiglottis, creating a lower note and creaking sound.

The original is one of my favorite angsty love songs. I absolutely love what Geoff has done with it.
@YBPlaysMusic2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the mood of course, but for example, I put on this version yesterday when I was sitting outside when the evening sun was going down from a very warm and sunny day, that was just a perfect moment for a song like this! :)

The drop on "stay" is going into actual subharmonics. The distorted driving bass line is, I believe, a plug in - as are the other instruments.
@YBPlaysMusic2 жыл бұрын
It indeed sounds like a subharmonic!

Geoff continues to grow and use new techniques for his videos. Previously he had only used fixed cameras. For this one Layne (beatboxer for VoicePlay) flew the steadycam, which he does for his own Pattycake Productions videos. In his next video Way Down, which just came out, Geoff works with Layne again, this time also employing a focus puller. So there can be even more movement. (Won’t say more about that - you just need to see it. )

Great reaction! I'm not that into the original but this arrangement is phenomenal! The 'mmmms' from the background Geoffs have a bit of Misty Mountains vibe to them which is cool. Have to say though that Blackbird is still my favorite. Loved your reaction to that one as well! btw - not his house. 🙂

Yeah! I was actually. thinking the exact same thing! When I was humming along it did remind me of Misty Mountains too! Thx, glad you liked it!

Yes he does a that a lot now, scooping up onto a note, or falling off a note and it always saounds so good. And no it isn't his house. I believe it;s one that was saved for posterity. I love this one a lot too but I think Shenandoah might be one of my favourites, though every one he does becomes the new favourite.
@YBPlaysMusic2 жыл бұрын
Thx for the info, Christine! And yeah, indeed. Naturally, as a creator you'd like to make every video better than the last one. Doesn't always turn out that way of course but generally, there'd be a line of progression overall throughout his videos. Haven't heard Shenandoah yet, perhaps for another future video. :)
