It is a long story but the summary is that before SB19 the Philippines had a low standard - not in vocals they are traditionally excellent - but in terms of training and production. The local big players like ABS-CBN (BINI) and Viva (Alamat) only woke up out of their comfort zone it seems when SB19 appeared almost "out of nowhere". From a clear provinciality Filipino music suddenly became truly global.

There are still lots of PPop groups that he was not able to mention that are far way better like YES MY LOVE and G22. 2NE1 is a K-Pop with 1 member who is a Filipino.
