I went to Shanghai several times but far from the downtown. I stopped by Waitan at night once and it's pretty decent. One thing I don't like is that it is super warm in summer as the other big cities. What I am thinking is that maybe you want to visit some awesome places in China, such as Jiuzaigou, Guilin, Zhangjiajie, Huangshan, where I have never been but I would like to visit one day.

Def check out the western part of the city, esp in the water village area. metro line 17 takes you there without needing a car, super easy

One of my biggest pet peeves is seeing western restaurants in foreign places. Like im very much for corporations but like the whole point of traveling is to experience new things. I hope every city in the world keeps their own uniqueness along with their own restaurants and businesses, but like keep it to themselves and dont let others come in so that traveling stays exciting.

Did you go all the way through the day into night from early morning? No resting? I have done that but I need a park with a shady tree and mat, as around 1-3 or even 6-7 I get sleepy but after that hour is all good. Love your adventures

If you would have ask me to take a picture I would have run away because I got scammed there 😂 A guy asks me to take a picture, he told me he is traveling alone and would like to drink a cup of tea with me and I went with him. Later i have read that is a common thing, it even was mentioned in my travel guide 😭

Don't worry those are the correct words to say, literally means sorry could you take a picture of me? And it was not a knock-off KFC from what is looks like it's a traditional Chinese food restaurant, but maybe the idea of having a gentle old papa as logo is borrowed/stolen. Lastly, I should've skipped the last part now I feel even more starving.
