My only complaints, obviously from a realistic pov, are: The fact that it splits on his sides, because of the kilt physics, and that all the mail on most characters are on top of a kind pf cloth like its attached. When mail would just be over clothes or some other kind of armor.

Also, something funny I noticed about Valk that you didn't bring up. The chainmail is JUST over her chest. None on the back, none on the sides. Still just leather there. You could say it's under the leather or something, but I think Ubi just gave Valk a bit of tiddy chainmail and called it a day.

The reason the Knights' scale armors can be painted without chipped paint is because they literally just replaced the cloth texture with the scale, haha. With everyone who has plate (Cent, LB, etc.) it's still all chipped and gross; and, I HATE IT lmao

As a Warlord player that got the whole set, i'll let you know when he does certain animations the Chain-mail texture stretches. Also it's annoying when you have a loadout and the arm shirt-sleeves doesn't match the shirt-bottom on the chest.

The samurai definitely got the best of the new armor. Which I’m glad since the only alternative was to have rotten looking wooden armor. Those O-yoroi armor pieces like the shoulder pads and standards for Kensei are just, beautiful.

I'm just happy to have equipment that doesn't look like it's been put on right after getting dug up at an archaeological site. My issue with cleaner armor is that it's usually quite blinged out. So I find myself stuck going either with battle hobo or going to battle with enough Drip to make Charlemagne blush.

God that Warden armour though, it’s a re-skin but I don’t care, also that Kensei armour with Cinnabar, it’s so beautiful, they finally got rid of that awful patch on the vest, that chainmail on the Vikings looks really weird, especially the Raiders, it actually looks awful.

As far as i remember on the vikings faction Berserker used to be the only one you could use chainmail on his chest piece, the others ( Not the raider of course) used to only have the option to use different designs of leather armor chest.

I am pretty sure that if they could, they would have made actual new scale/chainmail models, and not just retexture everything. This is very likely roots at the same place as the reused animation heroes, and no unique execution. I think the team did a really good job with what they got.

Kensei definitely big winner this time around, the metal drip still gives me chills Raider, come on we were so close to having good armor. at least it's chainmail I guess . . . Knights still have the best drip all around in my opinion so they still remain the gold standard

The " 2 steps forward, 1 step back" comment is apt for Ubi when it comes to this dam game and not only in the design department. As much as I like the effort and cool designs they did for weapons, they should ease up on that and transfer the resources to armor design more. The weapons are nice and all but for most characters, especially Vikings, I look like a hobo with an end-game style fantasy weapon. Those moments when they make armor like Nobushi's foot solider look and Cent's close to real armor where amazing and I wish they did more of either kind on design ideas. Like what Dani said on wanting armored versions of non armored Samurai characters. Hell, do a switch-a-roo for Ara and Roch: Armor Ara and Wandering swordsman Roch. Of course there were other armor designs like the fantasy kind that I did appreciate. I just like there to be more flavors. Man, it used to sadden me to see how Ubi would drop the ball so often but lately I honestly got more cynical. Some guy commented, in another vid, that they are cutting corners due to lack of funding. I'll leave it there and not say my thoughts on that. I just had to vent a bit tho...even if I don't fully state my thoughts. Any who, I still look at the game from time to time but I'm always there for a Dani vid.

The Kensei armor is basically perfect, but the only thing i would have liked better is if the colour change would have been applied to the corners of the surcoat instead of the sleeves. And of course the removal of stuff that was already good (like the BP chainmail). Hopefully they keep doing this type of reskins...and that they give completely new sets to the remaining year 1 heroes before year 6 starts...

If you use raiders chainmail with one of the heavy fur shoulders, you can mostly distract from the spandex texture of the chestpiece.

I'm just glad a lot of these warriors got chest pieces that actually look different. I mean, take warden or lawbringer for example. If you're fighting with or against one, you're not going be able to tell what chest they have. Same with the raider and his bondage gear. They all look the same. (though that skin-tight chainmaille is not gonna help with the bondage gear jokes). The only ones that look different are their marching fire armor. Compare that to Centurion which has very obvious musculata, segmentata, or squamata for his chest pieces or the kensei which uses various kozane or hotoke armor with a coat cosmetic.

100% agree on Highlander chainmail. Disagree on the Raider...kind of...I believe that chain mail wasn't baggy. If it was properly done it would be fitted to the wearer. Granted that is where my disagreement ends. Fitting doesn't mean skin tight, and more often then not it would be fitted over gambeson. Therefore, proper chainmail was expensive. That brings me to my next point. The baggy chain mail, I believe, comes to us from people reusing chain mail that wasn't made for them, for decades, if not centuries. (I believe there is a story out there about someone using chainmail that was over a 100 years old, from the West in Middle East or Constantinople) I don't have the set in game, and wouldn't know how it looks besides the options shown in the video. Maybe raider took the chainmail of some smaller guy, and tried to put it on? And it was too tight? However, even if it was skin tight...how would he get into it? it would need to be opened and closed somewhere...

I think one big issue I have with the new armor variants is that they take one armor set type and just add to it or take away things while keeping the armor similar to the ones its based of of which can work. I like warden,bp,lb,highlander,shugo,kensies and a few others especially bps the fact they got rid of the demon face on the elbow pads and the mascara on his eyes is a huge plus for me. I enjoy how those characters look but other characters suffer because of it since the outfits there trying to add armor to were never ment to have armor in the first place so it looks off on some characters like pk and jorm when they change the texture to look like armor when the texture that was change was never ment to be armor like lbs cloth strips that were made to look like armor despite that not making any sense if you think about it. I think a better move going forward for ubi would be to try a take a armor set and add things to it from other sets like jorms new set has some kind of armor on his chest and shoulders but has no helmet and no shoes so it weird to think jorm just got bored half way through getting ready for battle. So to fix this why not put the boots that are on jorms leather armor looking set and put it on the new one and take his Loki helmet he has and just get rid of all the accessories and make it a basic looking helmet and add it to him won't be perfect but would be better. A better idea would be to have character armor be shared between eachother it would make sense lore wise since everybody joining the Covenants why couldn't they share some armor like I doubt most people will mind seeing raider wear something from warlord. That being said I do like what there trying to do I just think they need to go all in with it start mixing armor sets a see what fits we already have elements of it with some armor pieces so why not go all in if it looks good of course.

Ubisoft should have either made entirely new unique set for these *reinforced meta" they proposed or, at least, they should have worked on the pre existing sets that were already pretty good at protecting the character. That means that instead of conqueror with the harms exposed they should have gone for anything else, while raider should have been completely redone for this concept.

Ok so idk if Highlander, shinobi and gladiator got 6 unique sets of armors each before centurion, shaman and aramusha. But I still feel kinda shafted in that the three year 1 heroes that I play, and who I’ve thought would get 6 unique armors sets in the future didn’t. Still can’t really complain about the Highlander drip.

Now I do like cleaner armor especially for the knights but I feel rather disappointed. Didnt they say something during a stream like "they're armor is so worn out due to the constant fighting"? I was kinda sold on that despite how easy it is to maintain armor. I just wish we got something new instead of a reskin.

I've had the best luck with buying Armor packs with steel. Unfortunately, that does require a lot of steel, so if you're just trying to grind for it I would say (with champion status) either the Arcade Weekly quest, A.I. Breach, or A.I. Dominion. I just alternate through those when one starts to get stale. I had so far gotten the entire set for like 5 heroes by the time I launched the video.
