YEE SANG:

Can you feel the Chinese New Year vibe? 🧧 Because Caio already now, and this is why I am making Yee Sang. It is traditional Chinese type of dish which is a colorful salad made of various type of shredded vegetables, fruits, raw fish slices, and a variety of sauces and condiments to complement the dish. It's usually tossed together by diners using chopsticks while saying auspicious phrases, symbolizing good luck and prosperity for the coming year. It's a delightful and symbolic dish enjoyed during the Chinese New Year festivities especially in Malaysia. So I guess it's time to lou sang the Yee Sang. Gong Xi Fa Cai everyone!
Ingredients:
✏️1nos - Radish (peeled, julienne)
✏️1nos - Carrot (peeled, julienne)
✏️¼ nos - Pomelo
✏️1bunch - Fresh Coriander
✏️2 springs - Spring Onion (julienne)
✏️½ nos - Pear (julienne)
✏️5 nos - Kumquat (slice, deseed)
✏️40g - Pickled Onions / Ginger (homemade or storebought)
✏️8 nos - Lychee
✏️6-7 nos - Dried Apricots (sliced)
Dressing & Condiments:
✏️2 tbsp - Olive Oil
✏️1tsp - White Pepper
✏️1tsp - Sesame Oil
✏️½ tsp - 5 spice powder
✏️2 tbsp - Honey
✏️¼ cup - Grounded Peanuts
✏️2 tbsp - Toasted Sesame Seeds
✏️1/4 cup - Plum Sauce (add a splash of water to lighten)
✏️1pkt - Yee Sang Crackers (Pok Choi)
Cured Salmon
✏️200gms - Salmon
✏️ Pinch of - Salt
✏️Pinch of - Sugar
