Tbh “press statements”‘are often vague like this. I’m just not sure what this guy has to do with anything, other than being a person available who is associated with YNP & has media training.

I am a little perplexed as to why the marketing director of the concession company is handling the press. I would have thought the actual Federal YPR team - the bosses of the rangers - would do the statements. No offense to this guy, but what does he have to do with this, other than to confirm that the private company employees had counseling available (likely just an EAP), and these employees are separate from the Federal employees under the Dept of Interior. I am just really surprised that YNP is ok with this guy doing press.

Thank you. I was hired a few years back by Xanterra to work at the Old Faithful lodge for the summer as a Porter...After I looked into who owns Xanterra, and employee reviews on Glassdoor / Reddit before I made the migration for the season...I quickly decided that it would not be the "Get away while earning some money" I had hoped for and decided not to accept the job. That was 2 or 3 years ago now so I can only imagine what the current work environment is like...

Now its been comfirmed it was a Xanterra seasonal employee that was the shooter taken down. The rumors were true.

This guy seems like a nice guy but what he said sheds no light on what happened. This almost seems like a coverup. A man got into a shootout with park rangers and the swat team from somewhere else was called??
