I get that the tempo of the song here may be a bit slower than earlier renditions (the band members are far from being spring chickens these days). I get that Jon Anderson will always be the quintessential voice of the band in the minds of nearly all fans. I get that the loss of bassist/vocalist Chris Squire was a devastating blow from which the band may never fully recover. And I confess that I have been among the many longtime fans to critique the band in recent years when the live performances have fallen short of expectations. But all that being said and taken into consideration, I think this rendition of the song sounded pretty good. It would seem some people have made such a habit of bashing whatever Yes does of late that the capacity of these excessively judgemental listeners to find still any joy or any pleasure in the songs they once loved has been sadly lost.

There are infinite suns all over the multiverse. Thinking that Yes can only have one lead singer is like thinking that Jesus is the only savior. Don't be so narrow minded. Jon Anderson has fought against narrow minded and conservative thinking his whole life, both in terms of philosophy and art.

Then there’s the moon, which reflects sunlight from the opposite side of the planet. This is where Chris Squire sits in the chorus of vocals, and you only have to listen to hear the interplay between Jon and Chris. It was always there and it is diminished only by the passing of Chris.

All yes fans have their desired lineup. Yes has always been a revolving door for exceptional musicians. I like you, apparently, treasured the ARW, but seeing both revealed the better performance team at this point, the Steve Howe division is more vibrant. It’s sad to observe fans and band mates divided, but if your tone is being heard correctly, you wish the band to end. I want the music to stay alive. If you feel differently, then you choice is to abandon the band altogether

@polishrocker934 жыл бұрын
What gives it away that they use a click track? Not doubting you, just genuinely curious. 🤔
@hpatss49664 жыл бұрын
@@polishrocker93 I actually had a drum lesson last September with Alan White (definitely one of the best experiences of my 16 year old life) and he told me that Steve Howe wants to keep his playing up to par and so he uses a click track and has the band play along to it. It would be fine like that but Alan also told me that Steves too close to the PA system and gets a delay from the click so sometimes Jay & Alan have to play a little ahead of the click which obviously causes problems
@polishrocker934 жыл бұрын
@@hpatss4966 wow 😆that’s such amateur hour logic there, no wonder Yes is so lifeless and not as spontaneous as they used to be. It also explains why White’s successor Schellen didn’t bring the songs up to tempo. I always thought it was White slowing them down, but no, it’s Steve, which is fine since I have a bit of a vendetta against Steve after having read about his massive ego. Thanks for sharing! Really freaking cool that you got to hang out with such a legendary musician.

@@polishrocker93 yea Alan is still as hard as a rock in his drumming, I was completely surprised
@evankeal4 жыл бұрын
It's highly unlikely your enjoyment of the song was ruined because the drummer has a click. It is likely that's what Steve told Alan is the reason, because Steve was tired of Alan's tempo shifts. And if there is any auto tune so what, have you used auto tune, I have, it's much harder to sing live, you have to point the software to be, it is very very very difficult even in the studio to pull off unless you have a song in one or two keys only. I doubt they are using it, and if they are great, I love vocals that are in tune. You should try recording a song with it sometime. Sorry for my tone, but people disparraging others without knowledge bugs me.
