I have fibromyalgia and long-covid, and I've found that your yin yoga practice is really one of the only exercises I can tolerate, without more pain happening the following day or two afterwards! Peace, just started adding stretching to my exercises and this is the best for me so far, also first time doing yin yoga and belief this is what I'll stick to for a while. I haven't wished for a stretching workout to be longer till now, and my headache is even gone, just pure bliss!

Wow such a gentle, restorative yet powerful class. I'm new to yin yoga but finding it deeply grounding and releasing. I burst into tears during the second shoe lace on the right side. Thank you so much. I used to be totally focused on yoga, I had an accident and had bone surgery and screws and plates put in my right wrist and arm. I grieved heavily and have only done yin since. I am also nearly 70 now and my body is not happy. This is my second class with you. The body remembers, I feel so calm and tranquil. And my hips and shoulders feel balanced. Thank you. Today was my first time practicing yin yoga with you on this video. I loved your soft voice tones, (very soothing) the music, too. I have been trying to teach myself different kinds of yoga and I realized I was pushing myself too hard. I need to be kind der to my body, as I am 63 and have experienced a lot of trauma.to my body with 4 car accidents and other forms of trauma. Really enjoyed this practice this morning. That being said, i enjoy all of your yoga and think your the best instructor in KZbin :) I'd love to know what the music is playing over the latter part of the video. Are you able to tell? Many thanks for all your do

Wow, thank you! I'm so glad you enjoy our classes together. Unfortunately I don't keep track of the music I use for each class, but KZbin often does automatically - if you open the description of the video and scroll down it's quite often listen in there. I hope that helps!

Hi Noelle, My name is Cynthia. This is my third day of practicing yin. Yoga with you in this video. Do you have other yoga videos you would suggest to also practice hatha yoga as a beginner to compliment and add strength. I am 63 with some history of trauma to my body. This was awesome. Today is the first time doing this it felt good.. I know it takes the body time to understand what's going on. I would like to understand why it's so hard for me to breathe when doing certain poses? Also what can I do to strengthen my knees lol. It's killing me to do anything on them. It's not really funny honestly Thanks in advance 😊

That's a great question! So generally, if we're struggling to breathe in a yin yoga pose, it's a good indication that we've gone a little too far into the stretch. Basically, our subconscious brain doesn't "trust" that we can handle the stretch yet (because our body isn't used to it), so it starts sending us distress signals (like struggling to breathe) to try to get us to do something about it. The way to deal with that is simply with time and practice, so I suggest backing up or adding props to a pose to get yourself to a point where you CAN breathe with ease, and over time you'll start to notice your body and brain sending you signals when they're ready to move on or try a different modification. My first complete yin yoga session. Some postures i have done mixed with vinyasa/hata... This enkle over knee and pull it to the stomach is pretty impossible for me now. My hips/lower back are very stiff even though I am doing yoga regular so i feel yin-yoga should be my focus. What's the difference between this swanposition and the pigeon? The hips being an area where a lot to f emotions are stored (you said in a chackrasequence) i can't figure out what that could be.

Great job trying something new! Swan position is essentially just the same posture as pigeon with a Yin name (if you're curious, I have a short video here about Yin poses, some of them have different names but not all: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJ2zq2awZreWb8U) Essentially calling it "swan" is just our clue that this is a Yin pose, meaning a pose to be held without effort, whereas we might approach pigeon a little differently in a hatha or vinyasa class.

In yin we try not to engage the muscles, so let gravity do the work for you and sink down :)
