I don't know if anyone has brought this up yet, but: Kimba was inspired by Bambi and Disney movies. Even the creator of Kimba acknowledged that. You know what also inspired The Lion King? Bambi. Interestingly enough, Bambi has a scene where Bambi plays with a butterfly. Maybe the reason why The Lion King had an image of Simba playing with a butterfly is because DISNEY OWNS BAMBI AND THE LION KING WAS DIRECTLY INFLUENCED BY IT. In a shocking revelation, Disney was inspired by Disney. Now, I will admit that there are some good arguments for the whole "Simba/Kimba" inspiration idea, but direct plagiarization seems to be an exaggeration.

Here's a fun fact: "Slita" (the name of the lion who challenges Simba in the comic) apparently means "to rip" or "slit" in Swahili, which you could say isn't too far from "Claw" and "Scar". Slita is also a way to say "fag" in Swedish.

FACT CHECK: I didnt think "slita" looked very Swahili (Im almost certain that native words in Swahili can not start with "sl") so I looked it up. "Rip" gives me a result of "mpasuko". When I check Swahili dictionaries for "slita" I get no results at all. Im Norwegian and I hear a lot of Swedes. I have also never seen "slita" used that way, and I cant find any examples of it being used as a noun at all. AFAIK it is a verb that translates to English in several ways, like, wear out, tear up, yank/pull, or work hard (it is also used similarly in Nynorsk). I dont know where youre getting this stuff from but it is ironic that it is posted on a YMS Kimba video. Please cite your sources!! I know this is an old comment but I am a linguist and I like fact checking shit like this when I see it. I cant find any source that corroborates either of these usages. The two lions are exactly the same lion with exactly the same colour fur being shown in different lighting conditions for pre-production. That's what I see.
