Chronic low back pain and sciatica pain can develop over time when we sit or stand for long periods during the day with poor posture. This is a practice you can keep returning to, again and again, to build strength and flexibility to provide some immediate relief, and help prevent low back pain and sciatica pain from returning in the future. Aside from that, it’s just a really fun flow.

We begin today's practice with a calming breath exercise called "diaphragm breathing" which helps to restore your body to a state of inner calm and stillness. Next a few stretching exercises to release accumulated stress and tightness in the hips, low back, and all along the length of the sciatic nerve. Then it's a fun, full body yoga flow with extra emphasis on stretching and strengthening all the muscles that support low back and sciatic nerve health.

This yoga practice is great for all fitness levels, including beginners, and for bodies of all shapes and sizes. Always listen to your body, take breaks whenever necessary, skip or modify any poses that feel unreasonable in your body, and most importantly HAVE FUN ;-)

Wow, David! I have practiced hours of yoga with various teachers and youtubers, but that was exquisite. I appreciate your insightful verbal adjustments that allow the practitioner to get the most out of each posture, the playful attitude you bring to your videos (we take ourselves too seriously, especially if experiencing back pain), the natural rhythm to your yoga flow and that you give a full 2 minutes in savasana accompanied by binaural beats. Seriously, your class was artfully crafted. Not to mention my sciatica pain has dissipated significantly. Thank you so much for taking the time to put yourself out there to help others!

Thank you for this wonderful practice David. Trying anything for acute sciatica, so came across your video. I did get some tingles while doing posterior tilts though. Otherwise it was all great. Off for a walk now - hopefully with reduced pain. Thanks again xx

I haven't written here for a long time, although I have practiced. This practice is a dance full of tenderness and love with body, also with pain. David, I had a beautiful time practicing with you (you don't know, right 😄 ?) Yoga on the beach, in the sun, caressed by the breeze. I didn't know yoga in the sand was easier 🦀. The beauty of the exercises, the circumstances, the sound of the waves - I had never known such happiness. Thank You!

I’m 5 weeks postpartum and this practice was just what I needed to ease back into “normal” movement! Loved the curtesy transition as well - that’s a new one for me! Can’t wait to see more of your videos and practice through them. 😊

Hi Kams! I'm so sorry that you're suffering from this pain. Make sure you take things slow and gentle, listen to your body, skip any exercises that feel unreasonable in your body and never push yourself past the point of pain. Just doing a little each day over time is where the magic happens. Also I highly recommend you combine this practice with going for short walks (10-15 mins) outdoors each day. You'll be surprised how much that helps. Hi Rajendran! I'm so sorry that you're suffering with this pain. Because there are many types and causes of hip pain, only an in-person visit with a medical professional can give you a definite answer to your question. . However, my students do often find these stretches and exercises help provide relief for mild types of chronic hip, back and sciatic pain. The most important thing is to be gentle with yourself and go very slowly, listen to your body, skip any stretches or exercises that feel unreasonable in your body, and never push yourself past the point of pain. Just a little bit of stretching sensation each day, over time, will yield the greatest benefit. Also, I highly recommend that you try getting outside for daily walks (10-15 mins), preferable out in nature. You will be surprised how much this will help. May these exercises help to give you relief and peace. Namaste my friend 🙏

@@DavidOYoga Thank you very much david! Just from today i went for a 15 mts walking! I had severe pain in left side hip and hip joint last month ! I had treatment from a phisio! ( ift- vibration) for 5 days! Nonstop pains have gone! He has given some exercices, which i was doing already , regularly ! But i do not know how i got the pain! Now i am having light pain at times and having numbness below the knee! Sorry for the lengthy reply! Again thank you very much!
