I suffered from chronic bouts of sciatica pain for years and these are some of my favorite stretching exercises that helped me eliminate sciatica pain from my life for good.
The exercises and stretches in this video will address the two most common causes of sciatica pain - a herniated or bulging disk in the low back, and piriformis syndrome (an overly tight piriformis muscle in the buttock). However when dealing with the spine or sciatica its always best to see a doctor or physical therapist first. If any of these stretches or exercises cause you more pain - stop immediately and skip that stretch! Therapeutic stretching should feel intuitively good in your body, so listen to your body, and stay safe.

This practice is great for all fitness levels, including beginners, and for bodies of all shapes and sizes. Always listen to your body, take breaks whenever necessary, skip or modify any poses that feel unreasonable in your body, and most importantly HAVE FUN ;-)

Thanks for this -- feels good even if you don't have sciatica. Also always helpful to have the reminder to walk. A yoga teacher said daily walking is as important as daily yoga -- they are synergistic.

Thank you, David, for this video! This is the first time in 7 weeks that I have felt no sciatic pain in my left leg. I am very grateful to you for your help and wonderfully calming exercises. This will now become my nightly workout. Namaste!

3-18-24: Just found this video. I have double sciatica (both sides). I did all the stretches and they all felt wonderful! Plan to do these every day - so calming and reassuring. I feel more relaxed than with any other sciatica exercises I've tried. Thank you David!! I'm wondering if doing this group of poses twice a day is too much?

David thanks for your wonderful teaching,I must be honest with you for a while now i feeling no burning, stabbing or tingling sensation on my foot.what i do not understand is why do still feel a pain on my buttock and my lower back pain. Sometimes a straight line pain download to my foot. My hips are fine now,I feel no pain on my hips...

Good. Done I could do, some not. There’s was that seal out and that banana thing. Thank you so much. In 73 trying g yo stay mobile after multiple surgeries over the Kat two decades for breast cancer and numerous early injuries. I was a running, climbing , jumping and playing hardball with the boys little girl. 😂
