Hey listeners, I made a mistake! Just listening back to this, and I quote this teaching coming from the Taittiriya Upanishad, but actually the teaching comes from the Manduka Upanishad. Apologies, too much in my brain that day... (I hear yoga nidra is good for that)

This brought tears to my eyes, I'd literally just finished post yoga relaxation, during which a realization of sorts occurred. For several days my meditation has been interrupted by small events that happened in the past, minor "traumas" that I've never really thought about, actions I'd completely forgotten. These memories disturbed me, bringing up feelings of regret or anxiety, it suddenly dawned on me that the same thing had happened when I was doing yoga many years ago. I concluded this must be a good thing, even if it was painful, and decided to acknowledge, accept, and let go (what else can you do with this crap?). Anyway, ten minutes later I was watching this and it was like serendipity or confirmation or something. I come here for Esther's excellent asana tutorials and have never heard of Nidra, but shall investigate forthwith. Abundant thank you's x

James, you have presented a beautiful explanation of the different states of consciousness that pertain to Yoga Nidra. Thank you. I thought back to my hypnotherapy sessions from several years back and it occurred to me that your talk had relevance to that experience. Is the trance state the closest to Turya? I also know a feeling of "oceanic awareness " when I am deep in meditation and now I am trying to place these two states of mind within your diagram. Can you provide some clarity?
@jamesreeves33887 жыл бұрын
Noe, Turya is indeed the oceanic state. Trance state relates to both hypnogogic and subconscious, and raises the question - are you 'in' that state, or aware of it? If aware, it's Turya, if fused with the trance, you are experiencing theta consciousness. Hope that helps...

Thank you for raising this. I too have used hypnotherapy in my coaching and now I teach yoga I have been exploring how the language can be incorporated into relaxations and yoga nidras. I love that phrase 'oceanic awareness'

I feel called to lead Yoga Nidra experiences; I'm curious - can I create my own script, knowing that there needs to be an initial grounding of the body (ie. imagine roots from the body to the ground etc) so students feel safe and can return to their bodies easily. Any thoughts, tips, or other resources? Thank you in advance! xx

My son is 5 he was having the jerks he only does it when he’s failing asleep last year he was doing them every once in awhile when he was doing something basically nothing something without having to think so they did a EEG on him at 4 yrs old An prescribed him all these crazy medications watch only made him have seizures An totally changed him into a different kid my intuition always told me not to give him medicine but I couldn’t convince his dad until he seen for him self the meds the Dr put him on was making him worse we decided to take him off the meds he’s back to his old self An only has the myoclonic jerks while he’s sleeping but sometimes he can have 5-10 of them in a night An they get pretty intense they are more intense than your average lil jerk at least from my experience but his dad does the same thing when he’s sleeping just not as often, any input?

I often get into a state where I hear myself do a snore but am still conscious - my partner will say I was sleeping but I was awake. Is that hypnogogic state? This happens a lot when I do yoga nidra

Hey! I’ve got a question… isn’t it so that the top left curve is the deep sleep state and the bottom left curve is the waking stage?
@OntdekYogaNidra2 жыл бұрын
Yes, tiny visual mistake, human. (Meaning stays the same).
