Thanks for watching! Now I can ask you - do you prefer the WAVE or LADDER sequencing style?
@eelkeaptroot1393
@eelkeaptroot1393 4 жыл бұрын
I´d prefer the wave more, probably cause it´s more predictable what pose is coming next after the first wave. But I´ve done and enjoyed both in the past.

@@eelkeaptroot1393 I think I do, too. I don't often teach the ladder style where I add poses one at a time. It just makes it super easy to get started as a newer teacher.

Very helpful!!! I was Corepower trained and they don't teach sequencing, just their power 1 sequence. I struggled with sequencing and specifically with keeping the foot patterns or external and internal rotated poses seperate. Thank you for explaining it so clearly. I have to have a Sun B because my studio requires a Sun A, Sun B, and a Power Flow, all with 3 rounds. So my flows are sort of a hybrid of your ladder and wave. I Ladder flow during my power flow, but my Sun B is always a basic version of power, so a wave 1.

I really like both sequencing styles - however I truly love the wave - because it builds on everything that has already been done so that the students know kind of where they are going! But I like to alternate between the two! Thank you this was a great reminder of how to sequence my classes!

Awesome demonstrations and explanations of ladder (watched in another video) and wave flow sequencing! I appreciate both types of flow, and I also appreciate your generosity in sharing your experience and guidance so freely with new yoga instructors (that would be me!). Thanks so much, Ashley, for your time and commitment showing us how to promote/teach the benefits of yoga!

Thanks for taking the time the write this! I have SO many videos ready to go and I just want to publish them all right now. But like yoga teaching... I've gotta share it slowly and give them time for people to consume and take in. Making videos has been SO much fun for me. And comments like yours make me keep going. I don't see enough post-YTT help for brand new yoga teachers, so I've been filling that gap. Have you taught a yoga class yet?
@alisonabraham366
@alisonabraham366 4 жыл бұрын
@@AshleyHagen Hiya Ashley, and thanks for your reply to my post. I taught six 1 hour classes to my family and friends this past July/August as part of my YTT requirements. It was a great experience, and I am still in "sponge" mode soaking up information to help me develop my style of teaching before taking it to the next step, which I anticipate may happen in 2021 :)

I didn’t know this was a thing but this is my favorite kind of sequencing in my own practice
@AshleyHagen
@AshleyHagen 3 жыл бұрын
I haven't heard it being a thing before. At least, no one taught me the concept of it from a teacher perspective. I just decided this was the name of it since I've experienced it as a student in some classes.

@@AshleyHagen yes, slowly but surely. My husband and I graduated right as COVID hit, so we haven't had steady opportunities to teach, but we try to as much as possible. We made a website www.graceyogalife.com and an IG @grace.yoga.life Your videos have given me a lot of confidence through this whole process! Thank you!!

thanks so much for the sequences methods, they are super helpful to me. however, I am a bit confused between the difference between the wave and the ladder methods. I find them pretty similar. Can you please give me some clarification between those two? thanks a lot Ashley

This is great! Thank you! Glad that it is somewhat similar to what my regular practice looks like but in a very elegant and well defined fashion - starting or ending with some pranayama and kriya. I always thought it doesn't fit regular "flow" :) now I have a term for it Yay!

I see the title can be misleading. Oops! I didn't mean a sequencing for beginner classes. I meant yoga sequencing for new yoga teachers. I might have to change the title.

I have taught the ladder flow and that fills up a good portion of my class but I just recently tried the wave flow on my own and I ended way too early. I still needed an extra 10-15min. I don’t think I want to do more than 3 waves so I’m trying to figure out how to make it last longer. Maybe combining ladder and wave? Thank you for these videos btw they are so helpful!
@AshleyHagen
@AshleyHagen 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah! Do a combo. That sounds fun. It also depends on how long you hold each pose and how many poses you do. You can extend your warm up and cool down, too. Play with it. 🥳

Ashley, excellent video, thank you! I always learn so much from your videos. I would like to ask you: Do you have any videos about how to create a nice way to end a Yoga class, post Shavasana (i.e. ending with a mini meditation, or breathing exercises, or a spiritual quote, etc..?)- thank you so much :)
@AshleyHagen
@AshleyHagen 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Laura! Good question. Actually, I do not have anything like that. I can see that being very helpful, though. In fact, I"d like to learn that for myself. I don't end my classes in any fancy way, but I do make sure that the students feel closure. So we get up, take a few breaths, reach up and end with a bow.

hi! if you are doing 3-5 waves does that mean on each side? so basically doing the movements on each side 6 times in total if you choose to do 3 waves?

@AshleyHagen
@AshleyHagen 3 жыл бұрын
Not loads of breath work, but I do have a 3-part breath script I go through. It changes frequently, but the main points are the same. You could definitely add more breath work at the beginning.
