yesterday, "i am strong" helped me get through the practice. later in the day, i remembered that strength and told myself, "you are enough." today, "I am strong" helped me to begin the practice and stick with it. on that last plank, my mind gave up. but i remembered, "the body can do this!" i paused the video and tried again, getting right back into it. today, i whispered to myself, "you are beautiful." remember: you are doing better than you think you are.

For those of you who are struggling: There’s some great warm up videos for the wrists and shoulders. It isn’t uncommon for newbies to get really sore wrists and shoulders. How do I know? because that was me 2 years ago! I still do 2 to 5 minutes of wrist and shoulder warm ups beforehand. Yoga Tx has a great warm up video! I am dealing with a hip injury and have done research to see what to do and what avoid and how to modify. If something hurts, don’t do it. You can hurt yourself. Instead, remember the name of the pose and research it. You may just need some tips or it may not be right for you. Modify and listen to your body and breathe, that’s how you will get the most out of your practice. You can do it!

I practiced today after getting my booster shot yesterday too! I'm trying to break myself of the "all or nothing" mindset I get, where I think, "If I don't do the video exactly right and with all my strength, then I've failed." With the fatigue and my arm really aching, I allowed myself to modify, to rest when I needed, and I'm recognizing that's MORE of a success than just powering through it because I "ought" to, because now I'm actually listening to my body, which is what yoga is all about.

At the beginning of the pandemic, I started doing yoga every day because I wanted to be healthy and look after my mental health. I was so proud of all the ways I was starting to take the time to take care of myself. But then I got a new job with a toxic gaslighting boss. I got injured while at that job twice, which slowed me down. And I started questioning if it was even worth it to try again after being torn and put down once more. The first two days were really hard, and I kept shaking even in "neutral" positions. But today felt strangely easy, even if I'm not where I once was. Happy to be back, making the time for myself.

"You get to decide how you move in life." This. This is why I love YWA! In a society that pressures us to move in very specific ways (ways which are often rigid and practiced on a basis of self-punishment), YWA rejects generalization and gives the individual the power to determine what feels good on a given day. We are not static, and our needs change. Movement is not a one-size-fits-all (what is, really?), and that is the beauty of being human.

I woke up this morning feeling the tiredness that comes when your body is battling a sickness. All I wanted to do was stay in bed and sleep the day away. But I decided getting up to move and stretch my muscles and mind would be beneficial even when I am not feeling 100%. I was able to do this video with a few modifications. Thank you so much for this beautiful practice Adriene!

I love the fact that these videos aren’t more than 30 minutes at a time and the way I feel after each one. Starting tomorrow and most days afterwards, I will need to do the daily video in the late afternoon/evening. I had Covid mid- December and used some of your more gentle yoga videos to help me recover after the first few days. Thank you for making all your videos available to everyone on KZbin.

This practice was amazing. I felt joyful throughout, caught myself softly smiling more than once and my body was energetic but pliable. That "bow and arrow" movement has to be one of my favorites, I love the mental image of energy moving through my body and extending beyond it, and it's also a beautiful moment to caress your body and show it the affection it deserves ❤ I tend to close my eyes during yoga practice and I believe it's because a) I trust Adriene to guide me with her voice and b) I'm confident my body will let me know when something is not going the way it should be (e.g. due to acute wrist pain I'm unable to do side planks no matter how much I warm up, so I just lean on my elbows instead!). I'm very grateful that 4 years after I started doing yoga I now have that confidence and awareness, and the tools to work with my body. Hope this was a good practice for you all, and that you have a lovely day 🌅 Namaste.

@@romeydoyle1064 Make sure you get plenty of potassium. You can also do some stretches and massages for your feet before each practice and see if that helps. They are definitely challenging for me, since I am very out of shape and i am shaking almost the entire time, but the length and difficulty is just right so that I wanna push through without giving up. (I love any practice where I get to rock up and down the spine though, it's so fun! 😂) I'm not new to yoga but have multiple chronic illnesses so some days can be really hard and yesterday I had to sit mindfully for the second half of the practice but managed to get through the whole video today without stopping which just makes me feel as though listening to my body yesterday was 100% worth it even if I wanted to carry on.
