In this session we create open space for new discoveries.
It will require your attention and focus, so start with your breath.
I don’t have many rules in practice, but one I do have is this:
The breath always comes first.
Your brain and nervous system will be continuously regenerating as you experience the 30 days - gaining new knowledge and feedback.
Build a new foundation with your breath and you will receive more benefits from your journey.

I love these 30 day challenges! I am in Scotland…these are for the world. So for those asking for a change of timings to fit their personal time zone, just start the programme one day late! The videos are available and free. This is for the world!

Yup today is 3 Jan in Singapore and I'm following the video for day 2 at 930pm. I can also choose to do this practice again say tmr morning. And then day 3 practice on the morning of Jan 5. Just adjust my timing a bit to fit. V appreciative for the videos' availability 🥰

2020 was a hard year for me. My wife passed , I have a toddler so I’m a single parent in my 20s and I had an injury which stopped my boxing career. 2021 I just comfort ate and put all my waking hours into my kid. I haven’t slept and This year 2022 I decided to start getting back to Me. So I take this time and follow your lessons and hopefully can get physically and mentally fit again Thankyou Edit - Wow thanks so much for the messages I really really appreciate it. All love

As Adriene suggested in one of her emails, I shared the fact that I would be doing a daily yoga practice in January with my family. It turned out to be very helpful today! I woke up later than usual, which altered my whole schedule for the day, I was already thinking I would have to do this 30 minute practice tomorrow! But my grandma encouraged me and helped me find a moment for it. Grandmas are the best 💘 I'm grateful for these peaceful minutes, for the heat and the struggle. Today I felt I was pushing myself while still listening to my body. Hope you enjoyed this as much as I did, and that you have a lovely day. Namaste.

I mentioned to a few people that I'm doing 30 days of yoga ... one friend remembered that I used to go to yoga classes frequently, and reminded me how much I enjoyed it. Very true! I am grateful for the support as well - to read your stories and share mine.

I am not sure who will read this. But if you came here today despite having the worst time of your life. I’m proud of you. I lost all my money to a person I trusted and have been crying all day, but I came to the mat and finished the session right before midnight. And I want you to know that you are worthy of everything amazing and you can get through anything. Sending lots of love.

Don't know why but when you said, "notice what it feels like to be alive today" it really hit me at the end. When we practice and it's challenging, there's a bit of heat and our hearts are beating a little faster; it's really great to be aware and feel that we are alive. Make the most of each day! I did it! Yay! I wasn't sure I'd make it today, but I tried and I did it. Today I have terrible period pain, but I wasn't going to let that stop me, from meeting you, & sweet Benji on the mat, for some awesome yoga today. My Discovery that I've made, in this practice today, is my breath. Seeing how important the breath really is to life, and to yoga, and how much it helps with pain. The more I was breathing deep, the less pain I was experiencing, it was awesome. Thank you so much Adriene, I love my yoga practices with you, and Benji. See you tomorrow. Namaste. 🙏🧡🧘‍♀️🐶

What I really like about this series already is it doesn't feel like working out. Yes, it's physically quite challenging, but instead of my brain cursing me out the whole time I feel calm. Instead of fighting myself, I am working with myself. I can already feel my balance getting better through taking big breaths and anchoring my body to the ground. I am excited to come back tomorrow!

You articulated what I could not. I have always struggled going to the gym, but this feels so much different and yet somehow I can still feel and see myself getting stronger

Exactly! My heels can never touch the ground in downward dog so I kinda start shaking and sometimes I have to go back to tabletop but I never beat myself up for it, even for some of the core stuff where it was really starting to burn it feels good to slowly work on those muscles

I've discovered today why I don't like to exercise. When my heart started racing as the poses got more intense, it felt the same as when my heart beats in my chest and throat when my anxiety kicks in. With Adriene's guidance I pushed through those negative thoughts and feelings. It's only day 2 and I'm already feeling better and noticing progress.

I'm the same way! especially when we unfold and relax, the feeling of my heart pounding between my chest and the floor immediately makes my mind race. But I think that getting used to that feeling and associating it with exercise, something that makes me feel good and connected with myself, will help battle that feeling out. Definitely glad for Adriene's guidance in those moments ☺️

I've struggled with this for years! You are not alone. Just keep breathing, deeply, and rest when you need to. Over time, you'll realize you're ok, your heart will calm, and you'll be able not only to enjoy yoga but also push through terribly anxious moments when they pop up off the mat in life!

i've experienced a fear of exercise since i developed hypochondria after a girl i knew died of a heart attack a couple years ago when we were just 18. it instilled this horrifying cardiophobia and exercising made me feel like i was going to die. it's such a scary feeling and it's hard to explain to someone...("well if you are scared of heart attacks/racing heart/etc, you should exercise MORE to make sure your cardiovascular system is strong!" ugh. i hated being told that.) some people just dont get it. but some do! and a lot of us here do! youre not alone. i remember one video of adriene's where my heart was picking up and i was going to stop, and she said something along the lines of "just see what happens if you surrender" and i remember thinking...wow... maybe i should just trust myself and let whatever happens happen. it was a small moment but it really hit me. sometimes we just need to surrender, if only for a moment. you can let yourself feel uncomfortable and scared after, but just see what happens if you let every part of you surrender for that tiny moment. sending love, from a fellow anxiety ridden exercise-phobe. x

Day 2, I’m still shaking and trembling in what seems to be “easy” positions. My wrists can’t go under my shoulders cuz I damaged them landscaping. I’ve cried during both practices, yet I’m still here. That, for me is a win. I will make it to the end, no matter how many downward dogs I have to sit out 😅

I do downward dogs on fists for the same reason, maybe that'll help you. Thought I was the only one who suffered wrist issues as a yogi

Try doing the downward dogs on your forearms! (I think that's called dolphin pose)

You are not alone! My right wrist doesn't bend normally either, but I do what I can. The fact that I am able to do anything at all on it is a miracle. And each day, I find I can do a little more. So grateful.

Several years ago, I was so strong & proficient in yoga in even the most challenging poses. Since then my health has declined and fitness has not been possible for me for years. I am now hitting the mat again but carrying so much self-judgment. I can not even do half of these poses and I spend most of my time in child's pose, recovering from what little I can do. Right when I am feeling so discouraged, you tell me to whisper that I am strong. Thank you, Adriene... A million times thank you for helping my mind come back to the mat now that my body finally can.

Thank you for this practice, Adriene. I lost my Dad three weeks ago. With your practices yesterday and today I noticed how much my body literally and unconciously has collapsed into itself to ward off the hurt, the anger, the loss. Crouching the lower back, not lifting the pelvic floor. Things that came naturally to me before, are now weak. I'm trembling. I have to stop poses I had no trouble holding before. I will show up every day, hoping my body will find its way back to itself. Thank you.

So sorry for your loss, Anne. Lost my dad this past summer. Please be patient with your body and mind. I know it's frustrating when your body feels weak. But grief can be a lot. I'm having trouble with certain poses too, and working out in general, because of the grief. It will take time.

I just thought the same. I was all ready to do this before going out for the day and realised it isn't there until 10am. I might miss a day and do them 1 day behind so i can do them earlier.

To those of you, like me that are on a different time zone as Adriene, last year I just joined in a day later. Surely we will still be connecting with hundreds of people in the same situation and Adriene, or whoever is in charge won't need to wake up in the middle of the night to release the video. 😊

Hi fellow Europeans, just collectively practice at 7/8ish the next morning. Let's not push for another upload time, I am sure there is many reasons for them choosing this particular schedule. We need to consider the fact that there is folks all around the world trying to practice. Given the fact they uploaded the former series earlier, the new delay might be due to some fairness regarding other places in the world.

Personally I am in Europe and I follow the videos at night, since that fits my schedule better. As long as we show up, I don't see the problem in not doing it live!

I cannot wait for day 2! Could you please consider uploading earlier? I would like to do the practice before work. I live in Europe and there is a time difference. I am already in my yoga gear, but just found out I have to wait a couple of hours. For me it would be easier to show up early in the morning. Thank you for this 30 days!

Everyone who wants the videos uploaded earlier there’s a link in the video description where you can download a few at a time for a Pay What Feels Good fee or you can use the Find What Feels Good app (which I use as I am in the UK) and that uploads them 12hrs earlier than KZbin! Yesterday I really struggled on day 1 and reached out to the community for support. I was comforted with kind words, love and encouragement. Today I showed up, I completed day 2 and it was like I could feel the strength of those words holding me in pose and trying that bit harder. I feel stronger already. I started yesterday lol day 2 was definitely a struggle for me after not doing yoga for 7 years 😩 but I’m so happy I’m committed and showed up. I lost my gma last year and we’re coming up on the one year anniversary of her passing. Among depression and stress, I decided I have to show up for me. My gma would have wanted that

I do a different challenge during the day because I’am in australia so the video becomes available at 9pm here, but I still do the live move video with Adriene because two yoga sessions a day is a great feeling (if we have the time) xxx hope everyone has a lovely practise

If you go in the description for the video, there is an option to download the series a couple days in advance. They are “Pay-what-feels-good” which I think we all should support her in some way for this amazing yearly service! I tried to do day 2, but I’m so depressed and stressed I started crying and turned it off. I couldn’t even get through a yoga session. 😔 Im posting this because I’m sure there are people who feel how I do today. I just want you to know you’re not alone in how you feel. And it’s ok to feel they way you’re feeling. I’m going to try Day 2 again, tomorrow. ♥️

Good job even turning it on! It's taken me several tries to do this video and today I completed it with a lot of floor modifications. It's better to do a little than nothing and you already accomplished that by trying today and promising yourself you'll try tomorrow. Good job!

It's okay, take your time and take it easy but take it. I've went through depression and now in a post depression i still find it hard to even begin doing it. But i can confirm you that it makes your journey through these rought times so much more calming

I'm going through a hard time as well and I've gotta say that even though it might feel tough, you've gotta try and listen to your body and take it slow. I really struggle with downward dog for example and I look like a bowl when doing it 😅 but I try not to get discouraged and not force it too much.. also try to take it day by day and not look at the finish line 😊😊

After the practice, I love to check out the comments and find strength in the community: people who has arthritis like me and powering through, people who hadn't done this in a while and found themselves shaking through the shapes... I'm surprised by the amount of people complaining about the time- it's almost all I can see when I check the comments. It honestly brings me down and I know I'm not the only one. Where I am right now, the video goes live at 5pm, and some other places, even more "inconvenient" times. Adrienne gives this annually for free and later on-demand, maybe it's our turn to give grace to her and others. Please remember that convenience is a privilege. If it's too late for you, please consider doing the practice the day after in a time that suits you best.

Yoga with Adriene was my first ever yoga experience about 6 years ago now (Can't believe its that long ago now) I'm about 5 days 'late' to this 30 day journey as my day 2 was today but determined to do it all! I may not go through it in 31 consecutive days but finish it I will! while being kind to myself all through it but tough when I need that push. To all the 'late' comers! lets do this and do it at our own pace:)

When Adriene says "we're just waking up those muscles, but for now we're here" thats my entire energy. I did the 30 days last year and yoga in between then and now, but I'm finding that certain stretches/poses are difficult all over again. Have to start from where I am, and love my body through it. Very happy to be doing this journey with you all.

Thank you for bringing attention to Benji with his head on the windowsill. Benji has always reminded me of our sweet blue heeler, Bailey. She would always sit just like that looking out the window. We lost Bailey last year and it was a sweet reminder to see Benji doing that same thing. ❤️

I feel for you, Emily. I lost my black lab mix almost three years ago, loved her so much and will miss her forever. She was my first dog, but I know she won't be the last. Dogs just do this, and we their humans can't help it but melt over them doing so 🥰

What a sweet kitty. I found the bicycle to be the most challenging, as well. Plank pose is getting easier after 2 weeks of regular 10-20 minute practice. My arms and wrists are gaining strength and it feels so empowering!

I practiced Day I for four days and then rested on the fifth day. Now I am here for Day II, which I will practice for another four days. My journey and intent isn’t a sprint to Day 30, but to gradually incorporate Yoga into the very fibre of my fitness regiment. Namaste to all of you 🙏

I'm lying here in corpse pose thinking about your question, "what does it feel like to be alive today in your body?" and it made me think of a story. A couple of years ago I was doing yoga with a friend who I recently introduced to Adriene's videos. We were doing a series of standing poses that required us to lift our arms above our head and I noticed him looking at me weird. After the practice he asked me why I didn't raise my arms completely over my head. How strange, wasn't that what I was doing? Apparently not. After showing me what I looked like in a mirror, my arms were nowhere near vertical. Now, I always had shoulder and upper back issues, but I thought I was improving. It felt like I was improving. I could have sworn my arms were over my head, so I never bothered to take the time and look. That was a big "aha" moment for me. Sometimes what you feel isn't always real. I think I became so familiar with the routine that I was turning on autopilot and no longer listening to what my body was telling me, and this disconnect between my mind and my body was making it very difficult to feel alive in it. So that's my challenge for everyone today. Be open to approaching each pose from a new perspective. You'll be shocked how much you still have to learn, even from something as simple as shavasana. This is another lesson I like to carry off the mat. The biggest disservice we can do to ourselves is assume we know everything.

It's funny you should say that because it resonates with something in my mind: I'm _completely_ new to this yoga business, as of yesterday, and I was wondering what I'd see if I recorded myself. I don't have a mirror nearby, and I found it surprisingly hard to tell if my body matched Adriene's or not. I feel like I was in that "downward dog" pose reasonably well, but it's entirely possible I was getting it completely wrong. I guess that's one of the advantages of real-life sessions!

This is such a minor thing but I absolutely love that in the still moments your microphone picks up your heartbeat. I’ve always found that sound to be incredibly soothing and helps me to find my stillness in my movements.💕

I am a very healthy 55 year old male with no pre existing conditions and I go to the gym daily. In December I came down with covid and it developed into pneumonia. I spent a week in the hospital and I am home now. Adrienne has been a gift of my healing journey. I am so grateful for this series. Adrienne you have challenged me but at the same time it feels so connected to spirit, which is what I need. From the bottom of my heart, thank you (and Benji) for your skill and your truth.

had a lovely moment on the mat at the very end of the practice. we're getting our first real cold snap of the winter here today and had a few flurries of snow with more expected overnight. when lying there with open palms i imagined the sky overhead and all the snow drifting down onto me, and felt very connected to the world and happy to be in it and alive. "open" is my word of the year for 2022 so i was hoping this practice would be a special one and it definitely was!

For those of you who are struggling: There’s some great warm up videos for the wrists and shoulders. It isn’t uncommon for newbies to get really sore wrists and shoulders. How do I know? because that was me 2 years ago! I still do 2 to 5 minutes of wrist and shoulder warm ups beforehand. Yoga Tx has a great warm up video! I am dealing with a hip injury and have done research to see what to do and what avoid and how to modify. If something hurts, don’t do it. You can hurt yourself. Instead, remember the name of the pose and research it. You may just need some tips or it may not be right for you. Modify and listen to your body and breathe, that’s how you will get the most out of your practice. You can do it!

The same for me too Kayy, not practiced since August due to much work stress & currently off work as my post after 18years is being deleted & options to continue working there are not really options so looking at redundancy. As I suffer from depression mornings are hard, therefore my challenge for January is to come to the mat when this is released. So today, instead of fluffing around slowly inside my head and house, I am letting out little roars moving towards that fire in my body, and a loud OMGGGGG! when I'm done. Its so much better to be in sweet guided movement at this time. Thank you Adriene and all fellow brave yogis : D

I lost a lot a physical strength last year. As someone who struggles with anorexia, anemia, and a low tolerance for heat in this Aotearoa summer, it's been such a challenge! You can do it!!! I believe you can. I'm overcoming my health issues, and now I believe everyone can. Keep practicing, inform yourself as much as you can about health. Personally, I used KZbin to learn about functional medicine and nutrition, and even the mind, and went from there. Your body is amazing, and every second it's making it's best effort to ensure your survival. Support it and you will see amazing things. Best wishes!

"I am strong" breathe "I am strong" breathe. this got me through this session today. I Imagine we all have that voice telling us to quit when the work gets hard and we are quaking but just that gentle reminder helped me power through and I couldn't be more grateful; for the practice and the reminder that you CAN change the way you think about things. At the point when Adrienne was talking about "burning warmth" near the end, I kind of felt like a burning worm 😂 The practice was really challenging but also rewarding. I finally managed to tap into lateral breath, and it felt awesome!

ATTRACT🌟 - August 2024 I attract all the good and divine that is coming my way and constantly surrounding me by remaining open and clear in the heart, mind, body and soul. I feel spiritually uplifted especially considering the fact that in a very metaphorical manner as I opened my eyes at the closure of todays outside practice I saw how all of the clouds had parted to reveal a brilliant blue evening sky. The serenity and stillness of the blue ceiling is reflective of how my mind is feeling now post-yoga and the state I need to remain in and return to in order to receive all of the gifts that the universe is constantly bestowing on me. Optimistic is another way to describe this heightened and enlightened spiritual state i find myself in as I step towards my highest most divine form. Namaste yogi friends🙏. I hope all of the divinity that you deserve comes to you✨💓 xx

I am living in France and the video is available at 11 a.m… I am used to do my yoga as soon as I wake up at 7am before work. I may let pass a day to do it the following morning. I am so excited for this, thank you ✨

I have the same « problem », I am from Belgium, I am afraid that after 11AM I won’t show up at the end of the day rather this morning when I have a little time … your idea to skip a day to be able to follow up the next morning sounds a great idea ! ☺️ wish you a great day !

Thanks so much for this tip Indra! I’m in the UK and am having the same issue too. Considering Universal Time is +0 (UK time) and it comes out at 10am in the UK, there can’t be that many places where it comes out in the morning. I love the videos but would really appreciate them being released a bit earlier 🥰

This session really opened everything up around my chest and shoulders, I didn't realise how stiff and tensed up I was!😆 Also Benji and his long gaze out the window melted my heart 🥰

This past year has been rough with healing from a mental breakdown, understanding new diagnoses, etc... Let's just say my bed and I are good friends 😂 Day 1 reminded me that "I am here"...not where I have been, but "here" and "now". Yesterday I did Day 2...my depression was heavy, but I decided I would sit on the mat and watch the video if that is all I could manage. I did about 10%, but it felt good that I had kept my commitment. I opened my mind to accept my limitations and do what I could. I will do Day 3 some time today, even if I can't do it fully. 😊 Thank you for being "real", Adriene 😊

Taking the time out to roll out your mat and watch the video, even when your body and brain can't handle following along is a wonderful idea. Do what you can, make modifications when needed. Yoga is supposed to feel good. My heart is with you, my friend. I hope you're still practicing!!

I'm in a similar situation where I'm handling multiple diagnosis's including depression. I felt like giving up half way through the video but I remembered what you said in your comment and it helped me push through until the end! You are so strong for accepting your limitations and listening to what your body is telling you, I wish you the best of luck in your healing journey and thank you for being a small but significant part of mine!

After joining me during savasana yesterday my cat Teddy decided to come back today during Sphinx Pose. He lay on my back & I didn’t have the heart to move him so did my Forearm Plank with a few extra kitty lbs! He made me feel even more alive! 💕🕊🐱🧸

Hello lovely yoga people, anyone here 55 yrs or older? I'll be 56 soon and I'm finding this new 30-dayer a little challenging. Muscles just seem to vanish overnight after 50 which means I probably need this more than ever. I'm sticking at it but would like to hear how others are getting on with 'Move.'. Two days in and it does feel harder than last year's. Today I adjusted and flat-out stopped a few poses. Hang in there. The hardest part is not always showing up...

Hello there! I'm 33 and I'm feeling as if my strength has left me during December so my advice is just keep going, adjust, modify, take a break when you need to, listen to your body. This is a process, if you stick to it you will see improvements day after day. Wish you the best! Don't give up! We are all in this together.

TeeClover, I am more than 10 years older than you. I have been doing yoga for years - a mixture of in studio and at home practices. You are absolutely right, you do need to do this! Strength, flexibility and balance are so important. Hang in there! Remember, you can modify as you go. You'll be surprised how quickly the "impossible" becomes "possible." I have a quote on my yoga notebook that says, "Be where you are, not where you think you should be." Adriene is a wonderful place for you to begin. Best wishes!

@@NM-ir1pw thanks. It’s great to hear from someone ten years older as I was wondering how long we can do yoga. If it’s possible to realistically do yoga in the later years. Had wondered if I’d need to switch to Pilates. Have you had any problems with injuries from yoga?

@@TeeJayDeluxe I have not experienced any injury from yoga. In fact, I believe my ongoing yoga practice has allowed me to, if not avoid, at least reduce other age related injuries. If you are just beginning, if a particular posture hurts don't do it. Mild discomfort is fine, but there should be no actual pain. Modify the pose to what works for you. With a regular practice, you'll be surprised how quickly you progress. As Adriene emphasizes, pay attention to the breathing. It is an important component. TeeClover, you can do this! Just keep doing what you can.

day 2 and i'm already struggling ahh. i was worried because it's only day two and i felt like i'd be the only one struggling already, but i see other people talking about it as well. i'm glad i'm not the only one who got trembly and achy. i've done all of adriene's 30doy and have never struggled like this. my legs are killing me and i feel like i cant even be in tabletop without my wrists aching and my back swaying. i was feeling pretty discouraged, considering i used to welcome that challenge, yet this time it just made me feel weak. i even got teary eyed during this one. i'm going to try to let my expectations and my past self go, and not let my past accomplishments influence my being proud for doing this in the first place. i'm hoping this will just make the strength i build throughout these 30 days even more meaningful.

I’m sure it will! I’m struggling as well. I already feel really sore. I haven’t done much exercise in the past 6 months because after the wildfires in Oregon I think the smoke got to me and I’ve been fatigued. Last year was the same for me. But after two weeks of yoga with Adrienne, I started feeling stronger and the pain started to go away. Just don’t push yourself too hard in certain positions if there is any discomfort!

I thought I was the only one! I’ve done other videos and have attended in person classes and I was also wondering why my wrists were hurting already! Reading your comment, it made me think how this must be a transformative sensation about not letting expectations and the past dictate our current experience

Me too! I have been doing yoga nearly every day since last February, including all the previous 30-day programmes. I am also struggling, but keeping going! I am always stiff at the moment any way, I think due to menopause, and have good days and bad days. I am putting my current particularly creaky body down to my mega sugary food sessions over Christmas!

I did this one back when it was first running - I wasn't aware of how much nostalgia I'd get from the music playing at the end. The core workout at the end really really woke me up. Day 533 of the current run.

I‘m just gonna leave a comment as well because I love reading about everyone‘s experiences doing this year‘s challenge! My new years resolution for 2022 is a little bit more discipline in everything I do. I really feel like this yoga journey helps a lot with that. Showing up on the mat and not quitting half way through the practice because it gets hard requires lots of discipline for me. I loved practicing in the morning during the last years but because the videos are uploaded later now (11am in Germany) I already had breakfast, read my book (which I usually don‘t find the time for) and got some work done. Never imagined I could be this productive, lol. (Not saying productivity is all that matters!! But it simply feels good for me right now.) I wish everyone a great journey, can‘t wait to keep reading all of your comments. Doing this together really motivates me! And last but most importantly: Thank you so much Adriene!
