Sips: "So the Shitbit would track your poos and then tell you when you need to take a dump?" Flax: "Yeah, and it would also keep track of your diet and how much water you're drinking." Lewis: "That's amazing! I need one of those." Sips and Lewis then go on to discuss how the Shitbit would be beneficial to their lives and how it would make things much easier. Straight from GPT-3. Prompt was the comments so far.

Sorry flax but dogs are most definitely sentient. I think he was thinking of being self aware which is not the same thing at all. Even fish are considered sentient

People get sentient and sapient confused a lot. Although, even if dogs aren’t strictly sapient, they still feel joy and pain and sadness and fear. I think humans have this god complex about our intelligence that we need to get over

I cant help but shift in to dad mode and say: in regards to the new flats at the zoo keeping a green space as a park. the law was changed so they can build the park after the flats are completed. and so when it comes to it the companies can just say we cant afford it, and thats that

My history teacher had us read an extensive article on Happy the elephant. There is much more nuance to what constitutes as a “person” under U.S. law, the recent trial is quite a blow to the animal rights movement.

We do generally consider dogs, cats, and other such animals, as sentient, but not sapient. I'm not sure exactly where the line is drawn between stuff like cockroaches and dogs, but there definitely is one.

The Google AI situation is explained pretty well by a Computerphile video. Essentially the guy who released the info on his AI talks seems to be confusing its chat logs for sentience when its just advanced to the point that it can predict what to say in a convincing and coherent manner. He should have led it to explain itself more rather than continuing the conversation further in the assumption that it really understood anything it meant and therefore means it is alive. Makes for a cool story, minus the guy getting lots of trouble, but I think there's more A than I when it comes to mainstream knowledge on AI's and I know squat about them.

Sentience and sapience are two term that are often confused. We will examine the difference between the definitions of sentience and sapience, where these words came from and some examples of their use in sentences. Sentience means the ability to feel things, the ability to perceive things. Any living being that has some degree of consciousness is sentient, including insects, lizards, dogs, dolphins and human beings. The word sentience is derived from the Latin word sentientem, which means feeling. The adjective form is sentient. The word sentience is often misused to mean a creature that thinks. Sapience means the ability to think, the capacity for intelligence, the ability to acquire wisdom. The scientific name for modern man is Homo sapiens. Sapience only describes a living being that is able to think. The word sapience is derived from the Latin word sapientia, which means intelligence or discernment. The adjective form is sapient. Note that sentience is often misused in place of the word sapience.

Genuinely surprised walking to school alone at 10 is odd to you. I went on my own when I was 6-7 and that was in the early 90s. Kids here in Germany do walk to elementary school on their own frequently, or bike. Most do that at the latest when they're in secondary school, so around 11. But that's when they almost all do it, before is normal too.

They way Netflix uses on board camera and teams radios is whack they try to make it seem a lot more interesting which I understand, but it’s also a bit disappointing when you watch the race live and then a year later on Netflix it’s completely different
