The Raoul Moat thing was tragic for all others involved. Moat was a roid rager known locally for being a propper beligerant twat always starting fights and had just been released from HMP Durham (assault or GBH on a young family member, I think). He went to his ex-GFs in Gateshead (south of Newcastle) to confront her and her new bf. The boyfriend went outside and Moat kill him with a sawnoff, then shot at his ex through the window, badly injuring her. Later he shot an officer he had just found sat in traffic his car in the face, then phoned Northumbria Police saying they weren't taking him seriously and he wouldn't stop until he was dead before going on the run. A friend handed in a large rambling letter from Moat to the Police blaming them for loosing everything due to his arrest. He was spotted in Northumberland a couple of times, one time after robbing a fish and chip shop near the coast, and was finally tracked down to the outskirts of a village deep in the countryside, not far from where my parents lived, hiding in a culvert with his shotgun. Police surrounded him and he alternated between threating to shoot the police and shooting himself. His best friend was asked by police to deliver food and water, and that's when Gazza showed up wearing a dressing gown saying he was mates with Moat and had bought him chicken to try and wanted to convince him to hand himself in. Police advised him to GTFO. In the end, Moat became agitated and was tasered (I think he was threateing and getsuring to shoot an officer who had got a little closer than Moat would like) but managed to shoot himself in the head and was pronounced dead at hospital. A few others were given life sentences for conspiracy to murder (the people who gave him the gun and helped him move around, I think). The ex gf and the police officer that had been randomly shot in his car both recovered, but the PC was permanently blinded. He started a charity for police injured on duty, but went on to have severe PTSD and depression due which eventually led to leaving his family because he was badly struggling to come to terms with it all. He hung him self not long after.

My mum was evacuated and the lady that took them in made them leave her home after breakfast and not return until the evening. See remembers sleeping on a table because there was rats scuttling around and they were afraid to sleep in the bed. She also had to have all her hair shaved off because of hair mites, she was only about 9 or 10 years old. The lady was reported and they were moved to a better place, but it left her mentally scared for life.

Real Army Talk. As a soldier in the US Army, we did a field training exercise for 14 days. Our vehicle, a bradley, broke down and sheared its drive shafts. Our only radios power off the vehicle battery so if the vehicle cant work, we have no radios. We(Myself and 3 others in the crew) were left for 3 days in the desert and the one time we did get radio contact we were told to hold tight and that someone will find us. Well someone found us.....5 days later when we were out of water and only a little food left.....and they yelled at us because we were stuck out there for so long.....they forgot about us! So yeah, in real world military, even on my 2 combat deployments, its is mostly a cluster. Dont get me wrong, there are really smart and well executed missions and when we get in contact with the enemy training kicks in and everyone does a great job. But overall it is a logistical nightmare. We asked for a medical resupply in the desert and got no IV's(for dehydrated patients) but a shit ton of anti fungal vaginal cream. We had soldiers without gear or uniforms. Tactics are great, logistics suck.

Sips' idea of a Rockstar game. A WWII Japanese soldier who has survived alone on a little shit-island, emerges from the wilderness in 2020. The world has changed. But it would stop this ONE MAN ARMY from completing the invasion of the South Pacific. After finding a way to Australia to complete his Emperor's wishes... He was stopped by several police officers and taken into hotel quarantine.

One of the interesting things about the Sentinelese is that when a tanker ran aground near the island, the sentinelese took metal from the ship and fashioned it into Metal Kives for themselves. Perhaps the best way to integrate them in any fashion with society is to just send them raw materials and see what they do with them over time.

most of the major illnesses in the past we brought to the americas were because of animals (if not all). In the ol' days people had cows and animals roaming around with people without a care in the world. .so yes, cities did contribute. . but distribution of domesticated animals throughout the world was a larger part. What did america have? Skittish animals and BEARS. Who the fuck back then would ever think to domesticate a BEAR. There were buffalos, but I'm pretty sure there was some reason they weren't domesticated I'm just not sure why.

The family history stuff is really interesting tbh, it's one of my Nans hobbies. She does it for me and my brother aswell as my cousins just going back. Looking through it you don't really eant/ expect anything famous for me at leat it's more about thinking about what all your ancestors did as jobs, spent their lives doing and trying to build a picture. She's gone back 400 years in some places (so far there are a lot of coal miners and dock workers with a few domestic servants). Pretty cool I think

How does someone find the courage to approach an island known for it's aggressively violent isolationism? (it was known indeed) You're sent to spread the word of God (he's a missionary) and you're told God will protect you. Organized religion gets away with murder.. he must've had dirt on some clergy. That tribe is as guilty of his murder as the ground is guilty for killing a man pushed out of a plane by his wife's lover.
