Nice to see Austin able to take his abilities to the next level by not being held back from a lack of tools. Keep up the good work and I enjoy your videos.

Super-cool Austin! It is very enjoyable to see you not only expanding your shop’s capabilities, but also the tools available to you, assisting you to expand your productivity, safety and especially the depth of projects you will now be able to feasibly tackle, whereas before, may have been too time consuming to make them worthwhile! Very happy for you!👍🏼 Are we witnessing the beginnings of a Toyota 4X4 truck version of ICON in the making? An up and coming Toyota and smaller 4X4 trucks version of what Jonathan Ward has done for Broncos, FJ’s and 5-windows?! I suspect yes!!!😁👍🏼

It's amazing how much better certain jobs go when you have the right tools - and good on you for looking for used stuff first. We already have enough crap out there already. No need to get something that's bright and shiny when the scratched one works just fine.

A lift is a must have tool if your working on your own vehicles....i spent many years working on them and not having one at home sucked. I got one to install soon....i got a transmission jack too ..used one i bought years ago while looking for a lift .. gotta pull it out of my Big shop for my lift....another must have to lift and work safer....👍

Man you are so inspiring. I love my yotas and I highly enjoy your channel. You're proff that you don't need the high end whatever to get the job done. This build series is sick and can't wait to see it finished. Your attention to detail is what I think most are lacking. Keep it up!! #yotayoses

I couldn’t help but notice you placed your water separator by your air compressor. I did a lot of research when I put air in my shop and it’s actually recommended to put it minimum of 10 feet away from the compressor allowing the air to cool down and separate from the moisture allowing it to stay in the filter.

Transmission jack is a great add to your shop. The plasma cutter too. We all ...well, a lot of us anyway... have budgets to deal with. If you were in a fab shop using it every day, maybe a "better" one would be in order But I think you will be fine. I am a DIYer so I almost never buy the best or worst. There is always a good middle ground.
@austinniemela3 жыл бұрын
Yes for sure! If you need it everyday then buy a good one, for someone like me these cheaper units are just fine!

Your adaptor solution to the plasma power cord is one way...i just buy a new matching male end and rewire it. If 220-240 i use a welding male to match my welders....as i have 2 Big Extension cords for reaching everywhere ( including outside )... Then it all plugs in where i go...

@m1carbine20013 жыл бұрын
Have you ever thought of doing some write-ups on the whole diesel swap process? I’ve been wanting to do one of these for years. I’m still trying to figure out what would be best. I originally thought it would be cool to put a 4bt in an old Toyota pickup but then found out more on the TDI swaps. I also recently found someone who is selling a 1kzte with a tranny for a pretty good price. Still don’t know what I should do. If I don’t do the 1kz then I would do either a TDI or om619. Any positive thoughts/guidance would be appreciated. I’ve got a 1st gen Taco.

The VW have more support for kits or actual installs than the mercedes... Seem the best choice but any engine is great....depends if you want different or common....( mercedes or vw ). Pretty sure getting another VW would be quicker if you need to replace it too

You know what I wish you would do? Drive it around for a few weeks to get a baseline MPG estimate before you mod the hell out of the truck. Stock tires, stock drivetrain, stock body weight...in other words real world application. From everything I see the TDI swap isn't any easier or cheaper than any other engine swap that can be done on these trucks aside from the MPG gains.

do yourself a favor and not develop the habit of using the plasma torch as a hammer. It'll save you tips, guides, and torches. When cutting the thick stuff, watch the angle of the sparks if possible. freehand stuff I try to keep it about 30 degrees from vertical. its as fast as my dinosaur of a plasma cutter would do a clean cut before its untimely death.
