My unsolicited advice is to get out of any area prone to natural disasters unless there's a compelling reason to be there. Like a huge paycheck from a movie industry job. Do you think some of these evictions are going back as far as Covid? In Los Angeles they are way behind on evictions, some did not pay rent for years and worked the system. Many of the smaller landlords had to sell or they would go into foreclosure. Big developers then bought the buildings and did a remodel and up went the rents. We need to protect the smaller landlords who generally provide lower housing costs. Also, CA does have state wide rent control and it does favor renters over owners.

Dan When my oldest brother moved to Newport Beach in the 80s, he roomed with 9 other guys in an apartment. They were all just starting their careers. Also, when I started my career in Public Accounting, I worked between 40-60+ hours per week (no overtime). In addition, I took a CPA review course which I paid for out of pocket. The classes were Tuesday and Thursday night and Saturday and Sunday morning. You do what you need to do to get the job done and advance yourself. In life, there are business decisions and personal decisions that affect your life. Often times they cross over. You need to look at yourself as a business. Sometimes you change suppliers and sometimes you change customers. Your employer is the supplier. If it makes sense to meet the goals of your business and personal life, you make the change. Loyalty is a personal feeling, not a business decision.
@Ahern124513 күн бұрын
Boomer, that has all changed. Loyalty does not exist anymore because companies just see you as a number. No boss coming out saying hi giving you a Xmas turkey. Ghost jobs and interviews which are done completely online with no less than 3 interviews. That does not even guarantee a job. Many listed jobs are ghost jobs. Majority of Apts are investments for outside investors. They set the rules and no more than two roommates are the said in the leaae are allowed. Additional costs for parking etc. There is so much regulation now you can't sneak around things like you could in the past to get you by..like floating checks for a day or two etc. Your comments refer to when the rules were very different. Yeah maybe, but how healthy is that plastic? Don't ever put it in the microwave.
@omokaroojiire12 күн бұрын
@@KS0102 Exactly! I got rid of all the plastics, and invested in glass. Got rid of all the aluminum cookwares and invested in stainless steel and cast iron. It was a pricey transition, but so glad I made the investment!

I'm tired of hearing about how people "have it so bad!" I saw the writing on the wall years ago and adjusted my mindset and lifestyle accordingly. Took a long time, but now I look at these fools b@tching and moaning about their high cost of living, and just roll my eyes. I'm over it. We went through the same thing when we were young, too but would NEVER go public with our self-imposed problems. NEVER.

The problem is many homes that are rented out were bought at much lower prices and interest rates and owners decided to raise rents based on today's prices and rates . I think that's not in their best interest . The greed is begining to take it's bite . If a renter can't afford the rent they will miss payments . They may reach a point they can't catch up and they will stay rent free until they are evicted . They may not take good care of the house . Some wreck them . If you just rented at a affordable price that gives a fair profit than you have none of these eviction cost which ends up digging a large hole fore the landlord .

Linguists call interjections like “you know” and “like” and “um” and “I mean” and a multitude of others “filler” or “discourse particles” - that is, an unconscious device that serves as a pause in the middle of a sentence as the speaker gathers his or her thoughts but wants to maintain the listener’s attention. However, it would appear that such fillers - which have minimal grammatical or lexical value - have infiltrated daily conversations to such an extent that they threaten to further damage the beauty, power and effectiveness of verbal communication.

haha you and who's army? They can't eliminate welfare... Do you realize what a huge catastrophe that would be for public services here in America? Instead of going after a few criminals, the police would be forced to go after millions and millions of people who simply don't have enough money to live on! You think the emergency rooms are crowded now? They would become like homeless shelters!

This country is huge with many affordable locations and employment opportunities. People need to decide what works for them and may need to relocate. Not everyone can afford to live on the beach, including me. The government should not be using tax payer money to finance someone else’s desire to where to live.

Of course; they’re entry level jobs. A retired woman(Boomer) here. God 1st, always. Happiness is innate. Lol!. Back in the day when I was in high school, my 1st paying gig was customer service with (KFC)Kentucky Fried Chicken 🍗 at $4.10/hr. A bit of nostalgia. Remember Gemco?. Fedco?. How about Mervyn’s?. Stroud’s Linens?. Yeah, I worked retail too. Then 10 years busting my butt working in the Graphics field(my 1st career) until my 3rd layoff due to company loss of contracts and revenue. I then earned my degree, passed my state licensure exams and required certifications and became a (RT)Respiratory Therapist(my 2nd career). The last 24 years of my working life enjoying busting my butt working my way up earning a great income in healthcare as a Respiratory Therapist and through the Covid/Delta pandemic 😷(Essential worker). Then happily retired free of debt 💸.

I'm personally in no doubt whatsoever, but I believe the younger generation is going to have it a lot tougher than we did. Then we have AI and automation coming in. We battle not against flesh and blood,but against the world, The flash, and the devil. 🙏✝️
