This video was incredible. What you explained so lucidly and succinctly in six minutes is what my studio has tried many hours to explain to others and our clients. Value is malleable and perceived, and if you're not doing enough to create a greater perceived value - either through tangible offerings, emotional, imaginative storytelling, or ideally *both* - you are commoditizing your brand. Periodt.

I really like this channel and the content you give out. I just wanted to tell you that I’m in construction (kitchens, bathrooms, and custom woodworking) and it is just me. I’m able to apply these suggestions and tips to my line of work and it’s very helpful! So you reach all sorts of people not just design:) thanks

Interesting, and I can see where adding something substantial can increase its monetary value (I do prefer the "more for more" approach with clients over discounting and picking apart). However, I see too many middle-men run with this idea and try to staple on unnecessary or "empty" value to inflate something's worth, trying to add their worthless 'signature'. Seems to be an idea that is ripe for exploitation, but we have to do a good job of explaining the real added value.

I always struggle applying this kind of logic to the services creatives provide. Maybe that's just a sign of my lack of imagination, but I've seen a ton of videos like this and I think it's telling that they always use metaphors as their examples rather than tales of an actual web developer, designer, artist etc who applied the same logic and got the same results.

I would spend time working out how to differentiate yourself. I would also work away from Fiverr. The idea of Fiverr it's for a customer to come on to the platform and find something generally starting at $5. You put yourself at the disadvantage of having to fight away from that $5. Get some friends and family together ask them the question of what makes you different and then if possible get some people who don't even know you and ask them the same questions. Find those overlaps from the two groups and focus on promoting those differentiating qualities that you have. You have value, you have to pull it out and put it in the front of your business and showcase it.

@@thelittlechannelofcalm I know I'm just one random person on youtube, but let me reassure you that this works. After just watching some of his shorts I picked up just a little bit of the knowledge to raise my value. About 1 month later I was able to sell a 15-18k job for $40,000! And the customer is very happy with the job done.
