The best part of the carnivore diet lifestyle is having people who care like Dr Anthony Chaffee. No other diet community seems to have people willing to give as much of their time and knowledge to help others without expecting anything in return. If you are not healthy on your current diet, why not give the carnivore diet a try?

After heavy restriction with a huge amount of fasting i stopped starving myself, I went carnivore. I ate maybe five times a day because i was hungry. I lost weight doing that. I feel I've repaired my metabolism because I ate without restriction, and listening to hunger cues. I think I've lost 30 kgs since July. I don't weigh myself due to my past eating disorder. I've even consumed quite a lot of cream since Thursday and this morning my stomach is flatter which surprises me. 😊

Don't look at the scale, look at your body composition and how you are feeling. The weight will come off eventually but even then it will start shifting from fat to muscle and the numbers may look flat but you are losing fat.

Make decision by how you feel not by scale numbers. I’m carnivore 8 weeks 4 days, Started at 116kg now fluctuating at 114-112 been here for a month but feel better each day. Want to get back to 85-90, took me 46yrs to get this heavy I’d expect 6 months to a year at least before I get want I want. People need to stop thinking of weeks as years or months. It won’t happen over night and the more you focus on it the slower it will be. Focus on how you feel that day. Personally I’m just happy to see that I can eat this much in 1 or 2 meals a day and not see the scale continue to claim year after year.

The mental health benefits of carnivore for me has been the best thing in the world. I used to starve myself. I had atypical anorexia so I was overweight. I think I've lost 30 kgs since July. I'm not good with scales which is why I've not weighed myself. I'm so much happier, and well fed. Congratulations on all the changes you've made. Sending love from Queensland. ❤🦁

For a while, there were a few carnivore advocates constantly talking about the downside of the carnivore diet for weight loss. They kept on and on about how they gained weight at first doing the carnivore diet and I saw many people turning away from even trying it. I warned of the unintended consequences of saying that the carnivore diet is ONLY about getting healthy, not losing weight. It may be true in their case that they gained at first, but they did a huge disservice to those looking for an answer to their obesity, etc. They should have made it clear that the vast majority do NOT gain on carnivore, but rather lose weight without hunger for the first time in their life as happened to me. I lost 200 lbs on very low carb then carnivore and know for a fact it is the best weight loss way of eating ever.

I am one of the people who can easily throw themselves of a diet plan by weighing in and being disappointed as soon as there is a change "in the wrong direction" or no change at all. So I decided - as a new year resolution - to stop weighing myself like lunatic. I did last time on January 1st 24 weighed 107 kg at that time and took my measurements (hip/waiste). I don´t know, what's my weight now, I will weigh myself either on July the 1st or Dezember 31th this year, until then I'll just stick with my plan. That's how I made it through the first six weeks of Carnivore and stick to it. The last two weeks have been a breeze in comparsion, because I stopped having cravings. I do take my measurements every first of the month, I did "loose" 6 cm off my waist and also 6 cm off my hip. But that's nothing compared to feeling good, sleeping well, getting fitter (Sprinting since February once a week, will up that to thrice a week in the future.)

question 🙋‍♀️ my brother has been carnivore for about 5 weeks. Initially he lost 5 pounds the first week. He’s at a stall, hasn’t lost any weight. Everyday he’s on the scale. I tell him stop the scale…it’s about how you feel and if your clothes are getting loose. Now, my question is…just the other day he told me he’s starting to feel dizzy. Is that normal? I told him it might be the “keto flu” or maybe he needs supplements which i know it’s not that. He said this is how he felt in his 20’s when his doctor told him his cholesterol is high. I told him keep doing what you’re doing…don’t overeat, stop eating when the food doesn’t taste good. He’s still riding the wave but I fear if something happens to him, i’m gonna be devastated. He’s a 51 y/o male starting weight is 225, dropped 5 pounds and is at a stall. Please help. I want him to feel what i’ve been feeling since is started my keto/carnivore journey in 2019. Any suggestions? I absolutely love what you do, I listen to you every morning on my way to work. You’re an amazing human being, keep doing what you’re doing. Best regards Dora

There are a bunch of links in both the comments and the description for yesterday's Q&A specifically around cholesterol. Additionally if you are comfortable sharing your numbers during the weekly Q&As he often looks at them and responds in the live. Being a pain in the butt myself I have been known to do things like print all the journal articles listed and then hand them to any MD who gets silly about the numbers. They may not change their ways with other people but they sure as heck stopped saying anything to me.

You really don't lhave to worry about your cholesterol levels. We've been lied to so much. Sugar companies bribing researches. If you want something better than a statin eat oreos which is a ridiculous study. The longer you are on carnivore your triglycerides will go low, your HBa1C will be a lovely healthy number. I started carnivore in July and my triglycerides have gone down to. 6 I think (I'm in Australia). I forget my cholesterol. It's a bit high. My doctor just DOESN'T CARE at all!! Because he's also carnivore. He won't prescribe statins to anyone. So take comfort in the fact plenty of doctors won't worry about high cholesterol in themselves or their patients. I live in a small country town in Queensland with some amazing natural therapists. We had an acupuncturist working well into his 90s and he felt we needed cholesterol. He wasn't low carb at all. He did tell me to eat a lot of meat, but at the time I trimmed all the fat off not knowing that was the best thing for me. You'll be fine. You'll grow in confidence that it's not going to be dangerous for you to have high cholesterol. You're going to be so metabolically healthy which is protective towards your heart. ❤

Do calories matter when starting Lion diet? Cause i CAN eat!
@anthonychaffeemd
@anthonychaffeemd 3 ай бұрын
Calories are sort of the wrong way to think about it, but yes the amount that you eat is important. If you eat more than your body requires then you will store this in fat, however when you are only eating fatty meat your body will self-regulate how much meat you bring in, and you will not need to count calories or weigh food, unless you are taking medications that can disrupt your normal hunger signals like corticosteroids, or you're eating other things to just carbohydrates and sugar, which will artificially raise your hunger signals. Most people when eating a lion diet will be able to self-regulate their caloric intake by eating fatty meat until it stops tasting good, try this at least once a day, and see how you go. You want to eat until you get a bite that doesn't taste good, but more bland like cardboard. That's when you know that your body has satisfied its demand. You could keep eating after this, and yes this would be too much, but it would be very difficult to do, would taste horrible, and you would be fighting yourself every step of the way. So, don't do that!

what else are you eating throughout the day? As long as it's animal based and the cream is working for you and doesn't make you feel off then yes you are doing it right. But try not to think about calories, just think about how the food tastes and how you feel. :)

@RosalindChaffee I eat beef,eggs,chicken etc! No carbs,processed foods,seed oils. I eat broccoli and cauliflower but I soak them in baking soda water first. Broccoli and cauliflower are very low in oxalates !! Pure animal based foods over here ! Will be in ketosis soon I'm sure! I also believe that next to saturated fats monounsaturated are good as well!! My biggest battle is with alcohol unfortunately !
@RosalindChaffee
@RosalindChaffee 7 ай бұрын
@@phillipsauve8467 Bottom line, even without the broccoli and alcohol, the weight loss will vary by person and how much your body has to heal physically and rebalance hormonally. Yes you should be in ketosis soon (depending on the carb levels in your alcohol choices should you slip on that) so pay attention to how you are feeling physically and mentally initially rather than weight loss. And if you are one of those who starts dropping weight quickly then that is awesome but remember that the weight is only part of the picture and it's your overall health that is the most important part. Per the veg - If you're doing okay on the broccoli and cauliflower then great but they have a ton of things in them besides oxalates that aren't good for you that can disrupt hormones etc so just be aware of that and maybe cut those out if you're concerned about your progress. I hear you with the alcohol and yes, that can mess with things a lot . It's okay to do this in phases; to start where you're comfortable and adjust from there as you go. Odds are you'll have an easier time leaving the alcohol behind as you progress and your brain chemistry improves overall.

I have MRI diagnosed mild to moderate white matter disease. Can carnivore help me? Is it possible to stop further advancing of the disease. I can’t find any information on this. Huge fan of yours from Melbourne. Have lost 43 kilos since 2019.

Do we not need to fast and feast. All animal's including the lions and lionesses would have had days when they couldn't catch sufficient grub to keep them full. Infact they would have days when the had to fast because the hunt failed. So that being said if you think of the bears who hibernate in winter come out lean and ready to fish. Having used up their fat stores and ready to go. So I am thinking having the same quantity of food every day regardless of it being meat might make our clever system cop on and slow that weight loss. Makes sense as some people are noticing the stall. Even on Omad people have been known to stall or gain weight. I think the body needs to be tricked.

Were you eating liver or organ meats, with eggs, butter or fish in past 2 years?

Sometimes in the first year, but because of the Victoza GP1 I had to add a little salad to help me eat my ribeye because I can’t even eat one steak no appetite fast every day , eat one meal a day but do drink 100 grams of Fortagen powder from Dr Jaquish

@@reggieaustin1639 I would recommend you to try cut off those food (liver, organ meats, butter, eggs, fish) and see how things going on. People on carnivore diet have worsening symptoms bcs they ate those high vit A food.

It’s very unlikely and very hard. I am 4 months into carnivore, i eat a ton of meat and fat and i actually lost a little bit of weight (which i didn’t want to…), and i think that my next goal is, once the reparation and healing of my body is complete, i will enrol on the gym again and start lifting- i think it’s the only way to gain weight on carnivore, meaning: you bulk up on muscle. Honestly, that’s how my experience on carnivore has been so far: it’s incredibly hard to gain weight. 😅

@@AnnabellaRedwood But we do. Being an animal is not optional from a biological POV. There are perjorative concepts that go with "behaving like an animal" but those are social constructs (meaning that when we say someone is behaving like an animal we mean they are behaving badly, not that this is actually how animals behave in nature necessarily). When it comes to biology - which is what diet is - this is not an optional status.
