I say any of the great players from the past would play great in today's game. They would just have to change their game some. However, saying they wouldn't put up with Rodman's antics/style of play today isn't fair, because you can see from the clips they didn't put up with it back then. They did for a few years when he was with the Pistons and then his three years with the Bulls because they wanted the Bulls to win. But when he was on the Spurs before going to the Bulls and after the Bulls the league clamped down on him hard. Also, there's a lot of players today who do shit and get away with it so he would learn what he could and couldn't get away with. I'll say this for Rodman. He was the master at getting into the opposing players' heads. He would get people kicked out of games, sometimes he would also get kicked out but sometimes not. Plus, he'd be the best rebounder in the league and a great defensive player and he could hit shots at times when they counted.

Rodman's very existence is proof that "today's athlete's are so much better" argument is so wrong. If you switched the best guys yesteday into today's game, and vice versa...with the way they were raised, the games was played etc....one group would find success at both levels. Rodman would be less effective in this era due to the rules and officiating changes that penalize defense. Not saying he wouldn't be effective, just LESS so. Also, 3 point shots bounce further out on average when missed, which would drop his rebounding some (and I'll remind folks he was only a great rebounder for HALF of his career, though that seems to have been more of a "coach wants him to focus on other stuff" issue than him "suddenly learning great rebounding" issue).
