it is true, there were a lot of land cruisers in Venezuela specially for government use and they still use them up to this date. private users also abuse them really hard off road and they are amazing! that nostalgia and the fact that it is a great vehicle is why i am getting one

Awesome stash of everything landcruiser! Living 5 minutes away from a JSD army base, I see the military grade mega cruisers on the road quite often, mostly the troop carrier version. Kurt is a treasure, his passion for LCs is infectious! Thanks TFL classics for sharing this clip. Visiting this museum is added to my bucket list! I drive a LC90 Prado and love it, though I wish I had the 2H option on my transfer case like 4runners.

interestingly the series 80 shown is an "Autana" they were meant to be the more "utilitarian" of the 2 models sold, aside from having the hublock 4wd system and the square headligh there were originally only offer in manual transmission, bench seat front seat and no fender flairs, as year went by it go closer in luxury to the "burbuja" which was pretty much equal to the usa version of the car, all time 4wd, leather seats and so on

Regarding the Venezuelan 80 series: since it has de quad-headlights Toyota Venezuela call them “Autana”, it was the “cheap” version or the lower trim level of the 80 series over there. If you pay more you’ll get a “Burbuja” as locally known and it was almost identical to the U.S spec 80 series.

Thank you for covering the release of the new Land Cruiser. I love the specs, price and looks of the new Land Cruiser. My favorite Land Cruiser available in the US is the J60. I’d love that with a manual. Anyway, as you get new cruisers to drive, I’d course I want to see a comparison with the Land Cruiser’s most natural competition, the Land Rover Defender. My dad owns both a new Defender 110 and a Jeep Wrangler. Please include both those and a Bronco. I do not think a Land Cruiser buyer will cross shop it with a Jeep or Bronco, but you never know. If possible, a G-Wagen as well. Again, I don’t think it will be crossed shopped with a Land Cruiser either. Still the question, what is the ultimate off-reader? I think the Land Cruiser has a good argument for that title, given the right (aftermarket) tire/rim package. Whatever you do, I look forward to the LC getting out through its paces.

Here in Canada, we can import any vehicle that is just starting it's 15th year of age since it's build date. I live in Vancouver, British Columbia, and we have dealerships here devoted to importing JDM vehicles as they age in to our import system. One dealer I know even has holding facilities in Japan to store vehicles of special interest, until they are eligible to be imported. This has become so popular, that clients come to him with requests for specific vehicles, which are then sought out worldwide to import. He says a fair number of vehicles in storage overseas awaiting import status are already pre-sold to customers. What a great business model this is, with little risk - using customers own money to finance the operation. And this business keeps growing at a faster and faster rate as demand is over the moon now.

I like the arctic truck. You thought there were big trees and trails in the arctic. Well I can tell you gas stations are about 200 miles apart, roads are mostly gravel if not dirt, people chear when they get back on asphalt. There is such a thing as the treeline where 50 year old pine trees are 10 feet tall. Then nothing but rocks, snow and ice.

@akar2755
@akar2755 Жыл бұрын
The problem with the Hilux Surf (i.e. right hand drive 4Runner) is that while it is mechanically Toyota quality, it's not the best for very hot rugged environments. Toyota are very meticulous and measured with how they slightly modify vehicles for different markets (everything from power and suspension setups etc), and the Surf was never designed to deal with extremely hot Australian weather etc. It overheats quite easily compared to other Toyota models. Might be a quirk with it's less robust cooling system.

Bandeirante is not the name of a company, is the name of the model. They were produced by Toyota in its first factory outside japan. Dana axle and Mercedes engines were adopted in 1962 (following the opening of the new factory and the adoption of the name Bandeirante) to raise the nationalization index of the model, before that they were CKD from japan since 1958 and retained the original Land Cruiser name.

I don’t understand why this guy said like Bandeirante was like a licensed company to sell some sort of a mixed car here in Brazil. That’s incorrect. Toyota was here officially to assemble the FJ25 in the late 1950s. (You must be shocked to read that 😂) The São Bernardo do Campo assembly plant was the FIRST Toyota assembly outside of Japan (1958) they mention that in their global website, they first assembled the FJ25 with Toyota petrol (gasoline) engines with the CKD regime until 1962 when they nationalized and started to built the Land Cruiser starting calling it as “Bandeirante” which means the “flag carrier”, the pioneer explorers. Bandeirantes were produced between 1962 and 2001, and they were equipped with diesel power engines from Mercedes-Benz (1962-1993) and Toyota (1994-2001). I have no idea why the guy said something about the government there on the video. There’s nothing to do with anything, all I know and American people may not know is that Brazil has the largest Japanese population outside Japan which is probably why we have that close relationship with that country. Which means that we have specific products for our market. One example could be the 2nd and 3rd gens 4Runners they were officially imported from Tahara in Japan like the ones sold there but we’ve had the whole range of engines including the diesel engines and we don’t know them as the 4Runner we called them here Hilux SW4. Another fun fact: we don’t speak Spanish around here. 🤣

I saved a picture somewhere. But I'm away from my computer. Remember reading that they were all white. Just like a normal 70 series, but longer
