Couldn’t have said it better, I picked them back up from strict ring and calisthenics training. Mix in kettlebell work and I may never need weights again unless I get a free trial haha

All the power to you, Lee. I've been doing burpees on and off for over a year, but I've always loved mixing it up with burpees one day, kettlebells another day, bodyweight work a third day. My burpee workouts are pretty low stress, though. I set a time for 1 minute on 1 minute off where I do 10 or more burpees for a minute, then walk it off for a minute and continue for at least 100 burpees. It's gentle and it makes me feel great. Rock on!

I rarely do burpees these days but this is how I do them when I do. I sometimes increase the rest periods though…like sets of 10 with 2min rest between sets. It all depends how I feel when I do them

The important thing is that it has motivated many people to take up sports and take control of their health. The buzz around burpees has been a fantastic gateway, regardless of whether one continues with this exercise or switches to another discipline. I started amateur boxing at age 9, that was 50 years ago. I would box some 126 matches over an almost 10 year period. After leaving boxing, I continued to train, and have done so consistently for these past 50 years. Through my 20’s it was running, jumping rope, heavy bag, and calisthenics; in my 30’s I ventured into bodybuilding and my weight climbed to a solid 220 lbs. My 40’s were a journey into powerlifting and BJJ, and I packed on another 25 lbs; strong as a mule but less wind. Going into my 50’s I brought these various training methods together in a sort of hybrid training system. Now going into my 60’s next year, I’m back down to 205 lbs, have visible abs, can deadlift 2 1/4 times my body weight, run 5 miles in under 40 minutes and still knock out 1000 push-ups in a little under an hour. I’ll be attempting a 65 mile ruck-run in 5 months. Diversifying has kept training interesting over these many years and has made me more well rounded. Keep going and do you, brother! Consistency is key, not a particular exercise.

Good man Lee, appreciate your honesty. The burpee is a great exercise and I use it to keep my conditioning up. It definitely has its limitations though. In my humble opinion the best way to build strength is progressive overload on the basic barbell exercises like squats, deadlifts bench press etc. Keep going on your journey Lee there'll always be support here for guys like yourself who are willing to do the work and pursue their goals

Becoming more well rounded and gains seem to be coming more quickly. I'm sure that you will come back to burpees eventually with a fresh perspective. Thanks for what you do. Cheers from CALI/LA.. I’m 48. I spent 3+ years doing burpee-centric training. I got jacked and built amazing stamina. BUT - there was a ceiling for the amount of muscle I could build. I’m 3 weeks into readjusting my programming. I’m predominantly weight/strength training with lighter calisthenics. I still do a 50-100 rep burpee or navy seal complex warm up, then get into my weights. I also dedicate one day a week for weighted calisthenics. I feel amazing. My body fat is down and muscle size is up. Great video!

Making fitness fun is the best. Should bring you up not down. Helps with consistency. Trying something new for a change of pace is good. Return to burpees later. Nothing wrong with that. I had the same problem, I smashed burpees everyday for a year, got to the point i was doing 100 Navy Seals in 8 mins flat everyday for months, then moved to doing it every second day and alternating with HSPU , box assisted pistol squats, bicep curls and neck bridges. After a while I fell off and gained abit of weight back, atm i just do 2 push ups 2 squats burpees to 100 and just enjoy the process. Almost every burpee practioner I know baring BurpeeKing takes some time off. All the best from MCR.

Just catching up with your videos. Hope the situation you found yourself in did not involve any of your family's health etc and hope everyone is well. After that most problems can be figured out. I had a 10 year project a while ago which was littered with problem after problem. It made me good at solving problems! My saying was, "eat a bowl of blueberries and figure it out". Burpees are great. But yes, a variety of training options is the best. Whatever situation I was in though, training always helped clear the mind. Still applies that the best combo is a mixture of strong strength work and strong cardio. Good luck man🙏

if you want a different training style for your back pocket, check out The Stone Circle. he puts his emphasis on sandbag/stone lifting and calisthenics. really fun way to train. picking up a bag of sand that weighs what you do or more and getting it up to your shoulder feels pretty baller.
@keith49576 ай бұрын
Yeah the stone circle killing it atm. Got gifted a 100kg bag last week but it kicked my ass and had to drop it down to 90. Never had my arms and hands as sore in my life. Made me realize that the bodybuilding style I was doing wasn't cutting the mustard

@@keith4957 yeah i work with a 75kg and 90kg bag atm and alternate either shorter harder carries or longer easier carries. i can shoulder both but i dont do thay very much as i feel the carry gives me everything i want. carries, rows, and high pulls are what im on atm. need to do the box squats too. i pitched lunges to him. those are brutally hard too.

Your not letting anyone down, injuries are a part of the game. For me personally doing burpees and lifting together as well as running all compliment each other. The "weak point" in burpees for me is the upper back/shoulders. Biceps being neglected will also ruin you, doing all those pushups and only working triceps will cause an imbalance. Also hit shoulders with 25 lb dumbbell, laterals , front , back, hit the rotator cuff on top and side. Hit every angle of the shoulder. For me doing high rep routines requires a lot of preventative maintenance and a high calorie high fat diet.
