Here's what I hear a lot - "I was driving up (any road) and these three cyclists were riding side by side and they wouldn't move over for me - why do you guys do that?" I have to admit that this very thing frustrates me when I'm behind the wheel. Our sport does not always have the best ambassadors. Of course, I could always respond - "I was riding along (any road) and this car sped up only to turn right directly in front of me - why do YOU guys do that?"

A sure fire way to avoid those conversations about cyclists with others....don't have any friends, don't go to parties, just ride more. That is my system anyway!

What I always counter with is this...' if you're driving on a Sunday morning on a quiet road and come upon a tractor, I bet you wait patiently until it's safe to pass and when it is you likely give a friendly toot and wave to the farmer, right? They answer in the affirmative. Ok, so then you come upon a pair of equestrians and see a car in the oncoming lane. You do the same right? They answer in the affirmative. Then I say, so when you come upon a pair of cyclists riding side by side and there's no other car on the road in site, why do YOU feel it's ok to pass as closely as possibly at speed and honk the horn?

People say those things exactly because thier NOT cyclists 😅........I think your thinking of the word Fartlek......developed in the late 1930s by Swedish Olympian Gösta Holmér.

I hope China is not still puting harmful chemicals in their clothing. Think of how stupid it was for our Olympic committee to buy Chinese clothing which weakens our athletes with chemicals rather than paying a little more for Made in USA and keeping our edge.

Well there's something to worry about...the chemicals in the clothing making me weak. When a company that is in the USA develops and makes their cycling kit from American fabric via American hands and they send me a kit to advertise on KZbin, I'll promote it. Hincapie maybe? Unfortunately, I don't think Sepp Kuss is popular enough to revolutionize American cycling. Not sure if America wants to get into the cycling business. Bummer huh?
