oh cmon, world tour was cute. you can see they put a lot of thought into it as a way to onboard new players. it's kinda charming in its heavy-handedness about what the right kind of attitudes are, like moralistic cartoons were back in the 80s. it's hit or miss in terms of imparting knowledge and mechanical skills, but it's a step in the right direction.

It would be very dumb if the new Master levels are just titles for MR. MR is already ranking within a rank. They should be individual ranks like Diamond 1-4, and only start getting MR at Ultimate. This would add more ranks and if the intention is to make match making more even, that's the way to do it. Because it's currently too easy to hit Master and then the skill gap in that level is too great which leads to the issues you outlined right after that.

I think the new Master ranks will be based on where your MR places you among players. Similarly to how you have to be top 500 to get Legend, I think Ultimate Master will probably be top 1K, Grand Master will be top 2k, and High Master will be top 3k. Something like that.

I really don't know why Master rank gets all the attention, because they could definitely sprinkle some stuff throughout all the ranks. They also acknowledged people actually want costumes for the characters people play and will release something in "summer" and put things in the fighting pass. They said it's difficult, meanwhile avatars/battle hub gets basically every bit of content the game has.
